But both of our meals (almond chicken for me, chicken with broccoli for my partner) were pretty bad and very artificial tasting. My darling mother-in-law called us up and said she'd bring us takeout because the oyster beef was so good. She brought that for the husband, who raved about it ("like a Chinese pot roast," he said). And for me, a delicately fried tofu in a light brown sauce. We both loved our dishes, but I definitely got MSG-ed. It gives me the weirdest headache and vision effects and all day at work the next day, people were asking me if I was ok because I was so "off" as a result of this delicious meal. This is the best kept secret in Memphis for Chinese food. I'd put their hot and sour soup up against anyone. Love their Singapore noodles. Love everything. We generally go with one sometimes two other couples. We get the dinners for two and they allow substitutions. Now we each have upwards of 6 dishes to sample in addition to the soup and egg roll. Sesame chicken is really good to if you want something plain. Fried rice is the best I've ever had. And chinese donuts...yummmm... My wife and I eat Chinese food frequently, but i will have to say, this maybe the worst we have had. The only exception is the crab rangoons, which are wonderful. Service was ok, but the food was not. I had chicken lo mein, which had no flavor, and the fried rice was burned. Wife had general tso chicken which wad better than the lo mein, but not by much. I have yet to have Chinese in Memphis that has come close to touching Panda Garden. Chinese restaurants in Memphis are a dime a dozen, but Panda Garden stands head and shoulders above them all in my book. This place is -LITERALLY- worth coming to for the crab rangoon alone. It just can't be beat. I would almost come here and get nothing but crab rangoon, it is that good! The food also is so much better than any other Chinese I've had here. Could it be better? Yes. But I don't think I know of anywhere in Memphis where it is. The atmosphere is very casual and the restaurant itself is a little older. The crowd tends to be a little older and more family friendly as well. My wife and I both love this place. I absolutely recommend giving it a try and make sure you get some crab rangoon! read more

Panda Garden, is absolutely amazing!! You will not leave disappointed or hungry. Everything they offer is top notch. I've never had a less than perfect Chinese meal at Panda Garden. The building appears to be a hole in the wall from the outside and the inside decor is very dated, but the food really is amazing! They have the best hot and sour soup I've ever had. The crab rangoon is so sweet and cooked to just right to wear the wonton is stuffed full and and full of flavor. The "happy" dinner and the flower chicken are my favorite entrees. The portions are large. The ladies who work at Panda Garden are nice and are always smiling. Panda Garden, on Summer Avenue is definitely a hidden gem! read more

Ate here with my roommate after weeks of wanting Chinese! Definatly a good choice! Service was friendly and the way the good is brought out to you is so cool. They bring the rice out in neat silver ...things I don't know how to describe them and those and the plates are covered. It's just a really neat little atmosphere thing going on and I love it. The fried dumplings were so good too! I had the sesame chicken which was prepared differently than I was used to but probably way better! I couldn't put it down. Another thing I would like to add is the sweet and sour sauce is kept in a ketchup bottle on the table. read more

This place is so good! I love general tso' chicken and it's really hard to find quality general tso' until now! Panda garden is by far the best place to get it! The crab ragoons are to die for! I could eat them for my whole meal and be very satisfied! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because, in my opinion, the waitress was way to persistant. She came around every two or three minutes. Dinner for 3 will feed a family of four with two adults two hungry teenagers and have plenty of leftovers - snow pea chicken is the best and my daughter loves the sweet and sour chicken because the sauce comes separate - I love everything on the menu and can live off their egg rolls and combination fried rice - huge shrimp! I never leave yelp reviews but I felt really strongly about this place. I have no idea why there are a few negative reviews, because my husband and I bought thought it was some of the best food we've had in Memphis. We ordered the 2 person special, which came with 2 spring rolls, 2 soups, sweet and sour chicken, broccoli with beef, and mixed fried rice all for the low price of $24!!! First off the egg drop soup was delicious. The spring rolls were crunchy and had good flavor. The fried rice had tons of beef, chicken, and shrimp mixed into the most delicious rice I've ever had. It had almost a grilled Smokey flavor that was surprisingly tasty. The beef with broccoli was pretty good. The beef was very tender and the broccoli was fresh. The sweet and sour chicken was the ideal balance of sweet and sour flavors and with perfectly crisp chicken. We've lived in Memphis for 4 years and I'm honestly sad we have been missing out on this place for so long. We will be back. read more

I love Panda Garden! I was close by one day and really wanted some Chinese takeout to take home. I was worried that id made a mistake when I saw the outside (it's a little shabby to say the least) but don't judge a book by its cover because this place is fantastic! I crave their chicken fried rice regularly and it is amazing every time. I pay about 6 dollars for a large carton of the fried rice and it takes several meals to eat it all. Completely underwhelmed. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special which typically comes with a sticky sweet sauce. The dish that was presented to me looked more like sweet and sour chicken but I was informed this is how the restaurant makes their sesame chicken. The fried rice that accompanied the dish tasted strongly of bell peppers and black pepper. The egg drop soup was good but it's difficult to ruin egg drop soup. read more

I have been eating here for about 10 years now, and it is always delicious! The staff are so friendly. My family likes to order over the phone for take-out. I'm not sure what else to say! I always liked chinese food and Panda Garden give you the real deal with just some minor changes to suit the american lifestyle. I love their hot and sour soup, it's the best I've ever had. After living in Memphis all of my life I recently found the place. And I am happy. They have the BEST combination fried rice I have ever had (shrimp, beef, pork). The service is great. Recommend: First, the crab ragoons! I read all of the reviews before coming here and everyone is right. They have the best crab ragoons in Memphis! OMG! Seriously wonderful. Second, the fried (combination) rice. It has big pieces of shrimp, chicken and beef. Third: Sesame chicken. Whether it's a 1/2 order or a full order - it is great! After last nights "flash" thunderstorm and so many East Memphians without power (like me) I decided I'd go to Panda Garden for a great meal and cool air . . . Immediately went to wash my hands in the Men's room and there were no towels. Nothing drastic, came out and asked for towels to dry my hands . . . having to grovel in front of other customers made me feel a little uneasy but this has been my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant in the entire city for years. Mid-meal (the Fragrant Beef they served didn't have any ginger or scallions, don't know who the chef was this night) a kitchen helper comes by our table with a dripping mop to go clean the restrooms . . . YES, REALLY, and the final straw was the waitress bringing the orange slices and fortune cookie after it had been sitting "on deck" at the ice machine with all the kitchen help filling their beverage cups directly above it. MAN, they have lost my future business for sure . . . it isn't that the food isn't good, it just seems like it's poorly managed or something is amiss. And who wants to risk getting sick??
