The restaurants around the vicinity of the Woodside LIRR and subway station are cheap due to competition. There are several American Chinese restaurants around but this one does Pu Pu Platter. The restaurant has two doors. There were several waiting for their food. The owners can speak some Spanish. When an order is ready, the owner will ask what sauce and soda the customer wants. I came to order the Pu Pu Platter, which consists of Egg Rolls, Fried Wontons, Fried Shrimp, Shrimp Toast, BBQ Ribs, Chicken Wings, and Fried Crab Sticks. I am highly dissapointed. You can do better at this! Alright. I recently ordered these, "Subgum Pan Fried Noodles" this afternoon and they arrived DRY. No effort whatsoever has been applied into this "meal". In addition, it was supposed to come with wontons although it did not. Be aware of this place! The "wontons" came with chicken, broccoli, & carrots but let me just tell you, the broccoli SUCKED. Not only did it suck, it tasted like snot or like it was from last Tuesday. Obviously, you can't judge Chinese takeout joints except as compared to other Chinese takeout joints. ...That said, compared to other Chinese takeout joints, Panda Garden is not great. Portion size is average to small, the fried rice had a weird industrial taste to it, the General Tso's chicken was overfried and drowned in an even-sweeter-than-usual sauce that had no flavor beyond dead chili peppers. Worst of all, the fried chicken wings (my go-to) were tinyyyyy. The cook who took my order and put it together was very friendly. They seem to be in a generally good mood here. I went here on a Sunday night and it was an excellent decision on my part. From the moment I called the person on the phone was very friendly and was quickly able to give the prices for meals. I walked to the restaurant a few minutes later and my food was hot and ready. The beautiful customer service continued and they even waved goodbye as I left. Unlike many other Chinese restaurants I've been to, this was a nice place to sit and eat. If it weren't for Covid I wouldn't mind eating there. The shrimp fried rice was tasty,while the fried shrimp was extremely crispy. The only thing is they gave tartar sauce packets vs the small container of tartar sauce. If you're craving chinese take out in the Woodside area- Panda Garden is where I go. I like that it's always quick and quality is always the same. Meaning that it's always flavorful and quick. I dont come in here expecting very healthy, nutritious, good for my body food though- but an extra heads up, the food here is slightly more on the oily side. My personal favorites to recommend ordering here: When you're craving something that's going to taste good but not good for your body- go for the fried chicken wings with the shrimp fried rice. Order an extra egg roll on the side. If you want to go just a teeny tiny bit healthier and non fried I would recommend the beef eggplant over pork fried rice. It had a good amount of chicken inside but was way over fried for my liking. The pork fried rice was just ok. The portion size was huge and that's about all. I didn't eat much of my meal was a little turned off by the lady behind the counter eating and her fingers going in her mouth and then putting people's orders together. I was grossed out. Panda Garden is kind of a cute name for a Chinese take out place. So an extra .5 star for their name if I could. This review would actually be 3 1/2 stars if possible. But please don't expect to eat any pandas here. -The food here is like any other Chinese take out restaurant. If you are craving Chinese food, you can stop here for sure to fulfill your cravings, but I don't feel like anything here blew my mind. *There are seats for you to dine in, maybe enough to seat two or three families of 4 actually. -The restaurant is located right on the main streets of the Woodside area, so you can actually do some people watching on the small flow of people who pass by the window while eating. *The service is just quick and efficient. Not especially polite or anything, its just taking your order, and then you sit and wait for your food, and go home type of place. However, lately I've been obsessed with NYC restaurant grades and will only eat at places with a grade of A. That's how I came across Panda Garden, while searching for restaurants in my area with that grade. Not only did it meet that requirement, but also ended up excelling in other ways. I ordered shrimp and broccoli, the shrimp was extra soft and weird looking, the broccoli didn't taste fresh. My food was soaked in nasty oil.
