Ordered a delivery and the food came nicely packaged and piping hot! This place is so unbelievably affordable!! Beef tips speciality - $6.60 - WOW these were great in flavor and tenderness. The portion of meat to cost is most definitely worth it. I would just get an order of this alone next time! Eggplant - $6.70 - Cooked tender but unfortunately lacked a bit of flavor for me. With some extra soy sauce, salt, or garlic tones might have done it some good Twice Cooked Pork - $14 - This is not your standard Twice Cooked Pork. It was heavily breaded but the taste was alright. Been here several times. Although Astoria is littered with many Chinese American takeouts, it's hard to find a good standard Chicken and Broccoli. The brown sauce needs to be impeccable. And the broccoli and chicken needs to be fresh and not cooked to mush. The best IMO is Broadway China Station for this dish. Over here at Astoria No. 1, the chicken and broccoli can be a bit mushy and too much sauce. I tried the salt and pepper chicken and was unimpressed as the chicken was deep fried till the chicken was bone dry. You'd have to chew the chicken jerky to get through all of it. The kitchen looks clean however and the overall staff seem nice. I give this place a 3/5. There is much to be desired. read more

Astoria Dragon and Phoenix has easily become my favorite Chinese restaurant in Astoria. We ordered Fried Chicken Wings, Beef with Mushrooms and Orange Flavored Chicken. Food was of quality and very tasty. Nothing was greasy. I love big pieces of orange peels in my Orange Flavored Chicken! Trying Beef with Mushrooms for the first time, it was really good. This place also now goes by Astoria No.1 (perhaps they have rebranded due to the reviews) Decided to give them another try. Another reviewer below, Stanley is also correct about chicken and broccoli being mushy. Not sure what type of chicken is being used, but it is something that quite a few Chinese restaurants are guilty of despite this being one of the most popular American-Chinese dishes. I honestly question whether it is in fact chicken. All the vegetable dishes are covered in this gelatinous brown sauce and it is very off putting. Steamed dumplings and wonton soup were also flavorless. Eggrolls could also use some work. I will say although no pictured, they have managed to figure out a way to keep the general tso chicken crisp so that it arrives someone decently crisped, but protein inside is minimal. Much like other Chinese restaurants, again, it is not spicy in any way and includes no chilis of any sort making it indistinguishable from sesame chicken. read more

A typical Chinese food takeout joint in Astoria that has an extensive size menu and they also have plenty types of chicken selections as well. Got the guys over helping me paint my apartment ( well I did get the food ,) and boys want Chinese and Chinese it is . A few bags of spare ribs , some vegetable egg rolls , a few large containers of wonton soup and 6 containers of chicken , beef, pork , dishes to complete the the order..The food is made while you wait and the delivery guys where running in and out with takeout orders but for me , ordering in person means less wait time .everything we ordered was good and maybe a little more chicken in the chicken and mix vegetable container would have been nice but overall it was good. Prices are about what you can expect to pay at these type of take out joints but portions are better then average overall ..my boys enjoyed it and no leftovers or dishes to clean .would order from this Chinese food joint again with no hesitation. 4 stars on my yelp fortune cookie review. read more

Ok... vegetarians of Astoria... run, don't walk, to Astoria Dragon and Phoenix. I promise I would never lead any of you astray. I ordered here for the first time last night, and just wow. The sesame bean curd was the best thing I have eaten in months. It was truly some of the best tofu I have ever had. Moving on from the bean curd... everything was also very affordable and the portions were generous. My boyfriend got the sesame chicken and was also very pleasantly surprised. The food also got here extremely fast... we were quoted 50 minutes for delivery and I think it got here in less than 20. Do not sleep on this new Chinese restaurant on Astoria Blvd! It's tiny - takeout and delivery only, but the reviews are spot on: food is delicious, portions huge, and really cheap! They are also nice and efficient - I ordered after walking in and my food was ready in 10 minutes. I got spring rolls, pork buns, and House Special lo mein for a cool $12.75. What more do you need? Note that it is a $15 minimum to use credit card. They accept all cards and apparently also Apple Pay. read more

Called in for take out, but I was unable to recite their address over the phone. Lady on the phone sarcastically quipped "how are you going to pick up your food if you don't know what our address is?" I said "I found you on yelp I'm going to go to your yelp address unless it's something different, could you tell me what your address is?" Lady wouldn't tell me and just tried to belittle me for a bit until I said "it's ok I don't want anything anymore" and hung up. At that point she called me a couple of times until I picked up and said "don't call me anymore." I'd recommend any other Chinese take out in the neighborhood over this one. Highly recommend! Great food for a great price and the portions are huge! We tried a few different things, but our absolute favorite were the fried chicken wings... so crispy on the outside, but juicy and tender on the inside... highly recommend! Excellent food. The fried rice is perfect: fresh and not greasy in the slightest. Also the chicken teriyaki was just as you would expect from authentic street bbq. The pork buns tasted fresh made, probably made in house by the taste of it. I can't wait to go back!! read more
