A very good Chinese food take out joint in Astoria that has a large menu with typical Chinese food grub .Went in person to order a assorted feast for my boys who were coming over to watch playoff NBA and NHL games ..Good selection and easy to navigate menu , egg rolls , spare ribs , veggie dumplings, wonton soup , a few chicken low mein dishes , veggie fried rice , beef with broccoli, chicken with mixed veggies, shrimp chow mein and I think that's good enough for my crew . Good size portions , fresh tasting , reasonable prices and no mistakes on my order which meant I was ok with the 20 minute wait . The scallion pancakes were different that any other type I've had before. They were thicker and flakier which I really liked! Found this place searching for a decent Chinese restaurant in the woodside area of Queens and they did not disappoint! Ordered an order of shrimp fried rice with chicken wings, an egg roll, small french fries and a large home made iced tea. The shrimp fried rice was delicious and flavorful. The wings were crispy and cooked to perfection. The egg roll was crispy and not oily and the french fries were cooked just right. The home made iced tea was good as well but I am pretty sure it comes in a carton. If I am ever in the area and I am craving chinese food this will definitely be my go to spot! Highly recommend them! It's CASH only. They put extra rice & Pepsi sodas in our order (that we didn't even order) so that was cool. Nothing too memorable. Probably will try other places before coming back here. The main reason this place loses a few stars is actually the fact that the sweet lady answering the phone is unintelligible. We STRUGGLED through our order, and we could not understand each other. I guess the address is technically woodside but this is in Astoria. Pros: Delivery was fast on a rainy weekday around 7. Food was hot. No spillage. Very good prices. Vegetable dumplings were authentic filling and delicious. You get 8. But dough is too thick. Beef chow fun was more like authentic Chinese food. Generous portions Nice people when I called - they seemed rushed because it was busy. But not rude. I called 2x. And the 2'nd time I had questions about ingredients and the woman took the time to ask the cook and then thanked me for calling. Cons: No utensils or napkins included. Noodles came in styrofoam and were stapled closed - beware you don't eat the staple. Sesame bean curd came with like 3 broccoli and was pretty bland. Pass. Veggie lo mein also a little bland. Pass. Veggie egg roll was a bit greasy and more like a spring roll. Pass. Some dishes are probably better than others. I'd try them again and try other dishes. This place has really helped me in my poor days, now! They don't kill your food with msg and if you let them know you want a little sauce they make accommodations. Although I wish you could eat General Ts every time in reality I cannot. I usually order Chicken Chow Mein and Shrimp Chow Mei Fun large noodles and the portions and quality for the money are excellent. The service is great my feeling is it is mom and pop owned and they have a really good system. Cheap and easy without a lot of guilt. Changed my review. If you want great Chinese food takeout, look no further. This is the best place in town! I ordered general tso's chicken combo with white rice and egg roll. My wife ordered crab Rangoon. All of it was incredibly fresh tasting and delicious. In fact, the crab Rangoon was among the best I've ever tasted. Seriously thumbs up here.
