Our family has been enjoying Panda Imperial ever since Jade House on H street in CV closed years ago. Majority of our visits over the years have been dine-in, with quick, friendly service, and always delicious food served in very generous portions. Now, with Covid, only "to-go" service is available but the Panda staff have adapted well to the changes & still provide efficient service despite the limitations we're all now facing. We called in our impromptu order from their parking lot, within 20 minutes our multi-item order was ready to go and we had an exceptional & filling dinner at home. The food was ok but service is not great. My server seemed like she didn't want to be here, the staff sit in the back table and talk very loudly and she served my rice with her hand covering it. I ordered the fish in black bean sauce. They could not tell me what fish it was but it was cooked nicely. The chef didn't overcook it and that was nice. read more

Waited 1 hr, 10 minutes for take out. All because I did not tip. I always tip cash after service but the 3 women there were glaring at me while I waited patiently...and made me pay with my time. Only reason I did not return the food was because of the people in the kitchen who work hard to make a living. Point to this is....you are forced to tip without knowing services rendered. Beware! We went here based on the reviews.... My son and I shared the chicken noodle entree. Service was horrible and when we first got there it wasn't even busy. We had to wait another 15 minutes after I got the check to pay... Not to mention, we had to get our own boxes to box our food (which we didn't even eat later) and stand in line to pay because the waitress ignored us as soon as she delivered our food. I happened to be driving by this place and decided to stop for lunch. GREAT DECISION! The food is very good, as is the service! We were seated quickly, our order was taken promptly, and our food arrived quickly as well. Everything was tasty! I ordered the kung pao chicken with fried rice and my fiancé ordered orange chicken. Both were very good! The king pao was sweeter than I was expecting, but I still very much enjoyed it. The prices are perfect and the food is great. She wanted Chinese food for dinner, but all I wanted to do was kick rocks and not think about the prior events, lol! When we arrived, it wasn't that busy, but their phone-in orders were one after the other. We ordered the squid with black bean sauce, house noodles, salted-pepper chicken wings and some egg rolls. It also came with steamed or fried rice. Our order was $28 and some change & took about 15-20 minutes to prep. Mom and I were starving, so we 'sampled' some wings in the car on our way home since it all smelled so yummy! Ooh yeah, that was gooood! The quality of their food is good and the flavors of their dishes exploded with all the right ingredients. My Mom kept commenting on how tender the squid was between bites. I didn't try it, but I believed her, she's normally very opinionated on her food whenever it lacks flavor and good texture, but she couldn't stop praising this dish, she liked it that much! I grabbed a take out menu on our way out and already plugged their number on my cell so I can make more trips out here. Now I'm wondering what took me so long to finally get some good Chinese food that's just minutes away from home. How could people rate this place so high? I've been attracted to coming here for the past few years, and finally out of sheer coincidence I got a chance to go. The sign was always inviting, it has pandas on it, who wouldn't want to visit a place like that? Well, sure enough, now I know who. Anyone. I went for lunch, and we were immediately seated and served the usual free appetizer dish at any Chinese food restaurant. We browsed the lunch menu and I kind of blinked at the "May contain MSG" notice at the bottom of the menu. People still use MSG? Truly a classic "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome." I put that aside though, I'm not one to believe a little MSG here and there will hurt. The menu seemed pretty diverse, and the pictures here show it's true. But wait until you order. Man, what a waste. We ordered two plates, beef curry and Mongolian beef. When both plates arrived, I didn't realize they'd look exactly the same except one's darker than the other. Not only did they look the same, (aside one having vegetables), but they also tasted the safe: Bland, mushy, and oily. If there's ever been a time I could taste oil's true flavor- this was it. Not even half of either plate was consumed. Out of pure pitty we asked to have the rest of the food to go, but it was quickly disposed of after realizing that 15 minutes in the car with it left a pungent smell inside. And of course, to top it all off... The service was terrible. Our waitress decided to take a break and eat while our drinks were left empty for about 90% of the time we were there. They were only full before our food arrived, and as we left. And trust me, when you eat this food, you really want something to drink to wash out the taste. read more

I WAS going to give this place 3 stars because I already have my favorite greasy Chinese food place and that's Royal Mandarin BUT for being what it is for the surrounding neighborhood I bumped it up to 4. My usual waitress is fantastic, talkative, and very attentive. I was first introduced to this little gem back in 2005 by a coworker who loved their blackened fish. I've been a loyal customer ever since. Its a small Mom and Pop restaurant in what used to be a Wendy's if I remember right. It has it's own parking lot which is usually not full so no problem with parking. Casual environment and good for any type of group. The customer service has always been good whether I'm eating in or taking out. When I worked right down the street I would eat there at least once a week now it's more like a few times a year because it's a little further for me to get there but always a treat. The food has always been good and the price haven't changed - at least I haven't noticed. Their lunch specials are really cheap for a large quantity. The last time I bought lunch it was 5 or 6 bucks. Now dinner is where we spend a pretty penny. This is our usual order: -Creamy Walnut Shrimp - to die for! I could eat a whole order myself. -Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings - delish! -Cashew Chicken - yum and still yum the next day -Mongolian Beef - always good, sometimes more green onions depending on who's cooking. -House Noodles - a little greasy but still good. -Orange Chicken - is my least fave but we order it for the kids. If you order the dinner special you get rice, the entree, egg drop soup, egg roll, and a fried shrimp thing. Super cheap! I personally love this place and will definitely keep coming back. read more

My wife loves the Kung Pao chicken. I recommend the War Won Ton soup with noodles. The pork chops on the lunch special are very good also. They also run a very inexpensive takeout. I'd reccomend a party tray of egg rolls or fried rice for a party. The service is trilingual (english spanish chinese) and very prompt. It's located next to a Japanese place, which is humorously called Kaga Sushi (ask a Spanish speaker what Kaga means!) and there is plenty of parking. read more

One of my favorite dishes here is the garlic chicken, and I'm not talking about the wings (which are good too). I'm talking about a dish thats has chicken w/ mushrooms and water chestnuts. It's so good. I remember my uncle ordered to go and asked for garlic chicken meaning the wings and he got this garlic chicken instead. We ended up loving it. I've always wanted to see what the deal with salt and pepper wings was and decided this would be the day I found out. Boytoy ordered the "house special noodles." I've been an avid foodie for X number of years and just now learned wth that means!!!!!! For an appetizer we had the rangoons with a sauce that tasted like a fancy ketchup. The rangoons were yummy and although I wasn't necessarily a fan of the sauce, it eventually grew on me. Long story short....boyfriend's noodles were delish and huge....If you know what I mean. My chicken wing were really good too....They were a heap full and freshly made. The garlic and pepper made for a more delicious bite of the wing. They have an oil peppers sauce type thing at the table. I didn't quite understand what I was supposed to put it on or how much but I liked the flavor it provided. Overall I pretty much liked it. We ended up putting them all on the lazy susan and sharing. Wings - delicious. Huge portion. Crispy, salty, wonderful. Orange chicken - doesn't look like their picture on the menu. I didn't order it because it looked strange. But when it came out, it was wonderfully crispy and covered in tangy, sweet sauce. My favorite. Kung Pao chicken - very good! Not spicy enough. Chicken cooked perfectly. Sweet and Sour pork - also delicious! It was the favorite of several at the table. Nice crispy nuggets with not too tangy sauce. Negatives: rice was dry and tasted old. Two visits ago I remembered being disappointed only because the dish I ordered was not that great and at the time I thought it was my fault. I recently just went there again during my break from school with my girlfriend to give it another shot. Here are the specials we ordered. Mongolian Beef Special- This was good for the first 2 bites. After that, you start to notice the bad things about the food. The beef had a slimy texture to it and it felt like I was eating a slug instead of beef. Also looked like it was in a puddle of oil. Thats nasty! The fried rice was boring. Its only soy sauce in rice that fried. At least put some carrots and peas. Beef and Broccoli- Again, slimy beef. The broccoli was undercooked. The eggroll- its not my taste but I think a few people might like it. Its pretty plain and boring and has no special flavor to it. The fried shrimp- Super battered! I felt like I was eating the coating for the first 5 bites until I got to the shrimp. Overall, not worth my dollar. read more

I wanted to eat Asian food but it was around 8ish on a Sunday night and we had been boozing and watching football. We decided to go somewhere that wouldn't be that far away and since I am so South, my options are very limited. Got the menu online, called them up, ordered, DD transported us and then it took another 10 minutes after we got there for our order to be ready. I would have to say we spent about 14 minutes traveling to Panda Imperial which adds up to a 25-minute time window. This extra wait as we watched 6 different customers arrive within a whole 10 minute time period made us less and less excited about how long we had to wait. We wondered if these customers called over 20 + minutes before us? I am only left to assume that they did not begin to cook our order until we arrived and paid. I will admit the salt and pepper wings tasted savory with how much raw minced garlic, chopped green onions, and hefty sprinkling of red hot chili flakes topped them, but then again it could be the MSG sprinkled in as well. I have had better fried chicken though, so I doubt those extra toppings would be enough to convince me to return to only get my Chinese chicken wings from here. Not sure if the food was worth the prices since I know 5 + Chinese food places that are much cheaper than the prices they charge, but driving this far north clearly was not worth the extra miles and time.
