Panda Wok is a popular Indian style Hakka Halal restaurant for takeout and catering. Majority of customers place their orders in person for take away dinners. This place gets very busy on weekends. This time we tried Panda Wok's Hakka Chow Mein Vegetarian noodles. Normally we like the order elsewhere. But here we found their version to be salty and prefer more vegetables. We also tried the Gan Ben Crispy Beef (Dry). It was really flavourful. We found it to be very sweet, the rice helped to mellow out the sweetness. It is served Spicy but you can opt for less spice if you prefer. Our family eats Hakka food once a month and we've tried different Hakka style restaurants around the city. Ho hum I tried this place based upon a review of their crispy beef. In addition I added lemon chicken, sweet & sour chicken, beef with broccoli and beef fried rice. I did appreciate the extra white rice containers. But the food was bland. It was underwhelming compared to other local Chinese Food places. I put soya sauce on my fried rice just to add some zip. But given the selection I was surprised that so needed any sauce at all On the plus the food arrived hot. The portions were fair. It takes a lot for me to give someone a 1 star but I cannot make myself give it anything higher. The food was not bad - pretty much like any other Hakka Chinese you might go to. The service was HORRIBLE - quite one of the worst I have experiences. The server had attitude from the get go, starting with taking our orders. When she started to bring out the food, she was busy on the phone (clearly a personal call because she stayed on that phone the rest of the time we were there). She never checked in on us to see if everything was ok. We ended up going up to her to cancel one of the dishes we ordered because we had finished eating and the dish still hadn't come out (she forgot to order it). She didn't bring us the check, we had to go ask for it - the entire time she's on the phone. Definitely not a place we'll be visiting again. I recommend you find another place. read more

I spent over $40 on really subpar Chinese food. I would say that the best thing was the wonton soup. Really wish I had stuck with that. I expected sweet and sour Chicken Balls but it was basically nothing but chicken chunks drowned in s&s sauce. Came by this afternoon, a couple of minutes to 3:30. I believe the sign on their door said their lunch special ran from 11-3:00 so when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised that the menu at the front desk said 3:30. I ordered the chilli chicken for my husband, their veggie stir fry for my sister and their chilli shrimp (spicy) for myself. The chicken and shrimp came with an either dry or wet option, I went with dry because the girl taking my order recommended it. I also upgraded to fried rice instead of just steamed rice for an extra $1.50 each dish. It took about 10 minutes for me to get the order. The rice was good. My shrimp were so tiny, i don't think I've ever seen shrimp this small ( & I don't know why, but I assumed it was larger shrimp) there were so many eventually I just started eating around the shrimp. Side note: extremely spicy. Even for someone like me who liked spice. My husband enjoyed his chilli chicken. It looked good. Didn't try it. My sisters veggie dish was so good. Quite saucy, but she enjoyed it. I liked it, there was more than enough vegetables (broccoli, bok Choy, carrots, etc). Overall, for $5.50 (+1.50 for fried rice) you can't go wrong. It would've been better if the shrimp were larger and maybe if I could add some veggies to the dish. But I didn't get that heavy feeling after eating the dish that I usually do when eating at take out Asian restaurants. Will come back. read more

STAY AWAY!! they serve you rotten food, deep fried in lots of spicy sauce. I tried several items for take out. Shrimp in rice had started to smell, veges gone bad. This has been my go-to spot for Hakka Chinese in Scarborough for a few years now. So I was surprised when I placed an order on April 3rd for chilli chicken and fried wonton and it arrived late and over cooked. I called Juliana and explained the situation. She apologized as they were short handed and offered to replace it but I declined so she promised to waive the charges on those dishes on my next order. I called in today to order again and true to their word they honoured the credits. All the food came out perfect. A+ for customer service and food quality! read more

My only complaint is that sometimes they're so busy my just eat orders are declined. Otherwise, all food has been delicious. Spicy chicken wings are flavourful and juicy. Chicken dishes are lightly breaded and fried, nothing is too greasy. Combo dinners are generous portion sizes. read more

Simply put, the food just tastes bad. Every type of chicken, the chilli chicken, the sweet and sour, all of it. The only people that can enjoy this food are the people that have been living in that community for years because they ate it growing up and they're used to it. Pretty decent hakka style chinese food. Visited twice and ordered in once last month while visiting a friend in the area. Enjoyed the chilli chicken on rice. Had a lot more kick than most places which made it feel more authenticate. Staff weren't overly friendly but were professional. Wasn't offended nor delighted in the service. It was simply adequate. Warning: If you decide to opt for delivery, make sure you plan ahead. It took 90 minutes for our food to arrive. Thought we'd save time cooking and order in. Did not work out as planned. Summary. Decent local spot for some authenticate feeling hakka style chinese food. If you're looking for a quick meal delivered after work, you may have to stick with Uber Eats. This is one of those neighbourhood restaurants that you go to when you're too lazy to leave the area. I ordered the manchurian chicken which was okay, but I've had a lot better. In general I've noticed the quality for hakka food is usually just average - not exactly fine dining but even this place seemed to fall below average. The chicken could've been a lot better if they used actual chicken breast but it was pretty obvious that they use cheaper chicken scraps to make their dishes. You can really taste it in their food. The chicken had this weird crunch/chewy texture that you get from eating tendons and wing cartilage. At least they have nice big portions. read more
