Good atmosphere, great staff, and great food. This is the trifecta when you are at the heart of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. It appears to be a bakery, but the breads they bake turn into incredible sandwiches. The price is not too bad, but the sandwiches are huge. I ordered a ham sandwich with mozzarella and sundried tomato. I drew the short end of the stick that day when they told me the focaccia was sold out, but they had ciabatta. It took a while for the sandwich to come out, but it was worth it. You can definitely portion this into two separate meals if you are not a big eater. The bread was toasty and fresh, and the ham and mozzarella were nicely portioned and paired with the tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. Good sandwich for a fair price. Sounds about Bay Ridge.

I remember when Paneantico first opened--hard to believe it's been about 20 years. Now, visiting from out of town, we knew we had to go back. It was absolutely worth the trip: incredible food, warm service, and that same bustling ambiance I've always loved.

Been back a couple times for both breakfast and lunch and this place is just as great as it was when I first started coming here. The breakfast platters here are massive enough to put you in a food coma while not being crazy expensive. The hero's are also top notch. Recently I went with the #B122 which was fried eggplant, fresh mozz, and roasted red peppers. You absolutely have to add balsamic glaze to make it complete and with the multiple bread choices you have I suggest you go with their brick oven hero bread. 10/10. Have to mention the coffee is good here too. Their brewed coffee is strong without it being bitter and works well with everything they sell here. You might run into Nonna who comes out of the kitchen every once in a while. Eat here!

It says "bakery" so you probably were like me and thought "yay, cookies!" No no. Do what they did and think outside of that. Pasta salad? Straight up hot food? Over 100 sandwich options?! Call in and order that sandwich in advance. That way, you go in, grab your sandwich, run home, and inhale that sandwich. And did I know balsamic glaze goes on all sandwiches? I do now. Paneantico taught me that. That's why they give you balsamic with every sandwich. You don't have to ask for it, it's their way of saying "trust us". Made to order. So good. You can't mess up a sandwich; only make it better. It's gonna take me a while to get to all these sandwiches but I'll try. Wish me luck.

Absolutely delicious! The creamy grilled chicken Caesar salad was incredibly fresh -- crisp romaine, perfectly grilled chicken, and a rich, tangy dressing that tied it all together. Every bite was full of flavor. I'll definitely be back for more! And let me get started on the cakes. Servers were amazing and helpful

This is a full on meat sandwich when it's SUPPOSED to be vegan

I ordered a vegan version of a sandwich, they had an option to "make it vegan" my sandwich arrived FULL of meat! When I called the excuse was that they had no option to make my sandwich vegan, however, instead of calling me to tell me this, they sent me a sandwich full of meat and cheese. They said I could speak to a manager and put me on hold and I got hung up on. This is not a way to run a business. This was clearly their fault and not mine.

This bakery is a true gem. The kind where you point and keep adding more and more into your box, yet the bill never breaks the bank. This Italian bakery spoke my language- and I only got to the sweets and not even the savories yet. Can't wait to return! I got all my usuals - cannoli, pignola cookies, something difficult to pronounce, the crisp butter cookies with sprinkles, and more. There was a green muffin I threw in there too at the last minute. The rainbow cookies were incredible. I noticed they also have a rainbow cookie cheesecake which I would like to try next time. Watching my kind server pull out each item behind the counter, ending with pulling string from a spool to tie around my box - a labor of love. Thank you, Paneantico!

I hold steady on the platform from my previous review, about the food served being delicious, however, I've knocked one star off due to the horrible service. Granted, they do get busy sometimes; I've seen the ladies behind the counter juggle three, four customers at a time without breaking a sweat. However... We went there today for a late lunch (2:15pm) to dine al fresco. There were plenty of tables to choose from, both inside and out (a lull in the day). We alerted a waitress that we were there for patronage, and we had a seat. The waitress came out with menus and silverware, and gave us some time. Then some more time. Then... some more time.... At 2:35pm, twenty minutes after being handed menus, and no one had stopped by the table to even take our "drink order", let alone "meal order". We really wanted to eat one of their sandwiches, so we were trying to be as patient as possible. We said "Five more minutes - If she doesn't come by within five minutes, let's go.". Five minutes came and went, so we packed up and left. My man alerted the waitress that he didn't appreciate being ignored, and we took off. Again, fantastic food but their wait staff needs either better training or better supervision. We waited 25 minutes to try to place an order. I'm not so sure we'll be going back. That's what "take out" is for, right?

When I brought it to the waitresses attention she said it comes with either bacon or sausage and I was like, okay you didn't ask so I wasn't aware. To which she responded that it was on the menu and proceeded to bring over the menu for me to read as if I couldn't understand her. I was really tired that morning so I guess that parts on me for just reading what I want and ordering it, but as someone who's work in the service industry you also clarify what the customer would like. I never said I wanted ONLY eggs. Just the way she handled it was really rude when I didn't even make a fuss I was just confused why there was nothing in my burrito weird energy here if you're not a white townie. Glad my father got to enjoy his corned beef hash though. Only positive in this experience.

Came in as a party of two on a rainy Sunday for their brunch menu and was quickly seated and served. Waiters/waitresses were very attentive and quick to give us menus, waters, take our orders, and clear our empty plates when we finished the app/food. Definitely has a pub/sports bar vibe with bar seating and multiple screens broadcasting pretty much all the sunday NFL games. But they also had ample seating for larger parties and families and it definitely seems like a place that locals visit often. The food was great, though we wouldve liked to try the chicken empanadas if we noticed it on the menu early. Oh wells, maybe next time!

That was such a perfect idea. First thing we were there, and it was a warm and sultry morning at 6:30AM with the sun up to greet us along with a New York bridge adorning the scene to the south, with us eating outside on the sidewalk I could not imagine a better send off from this great world city. Bagels were a perfect breakfast and we sucked those back in a jiffy. Just as we were finishing, members of the US military, maybe national guardsmen, showed up in black SUVs right in front of us and parked. They got out, a gaggle of them and headed in for their bagels. Well that's something to remember and not an every day sight for us being from Canada, and added to the local flavour of this epic road trip.

To the left, is a coffee bar with multiple coffee choices. Nice looking spot. I ask for a Sesame Bagel with Cream Cheese. Would you like that toasted sir? Wait a second Years ago, I asked for my bagel toasted at Murrays Bagels in Chelsea. The guy behind the counter? He lost his mind! The next day, they put up a hand written sign: No Toasted Bagels So I'm always lerry when asking for extras. Except the bagel guy asked me so I feel relaxed. I pour myself a cup of delicious French Roast Coffee and my bagel is ready. The bagel is perfect. It has a nice chew, just a little too big but thats my personal taste. The bread? The meat? The condiments? The sauce.. gravy, francese, red sauce? The originality? What happens if you find all of the above in one shop? And where would you find it? Answer: Charlie's Sandwich Shop I am a long time resident of Bay Ridge and this is THE FIRST time I have tried a sandwich here. Mind you, my friends have raved about it. The shop is a gem and the options are plentiful. Every sandwich offered sounds delicious and there are weekly specials like Shrimp Parmigiana and Chicken Francese. I decided to go with the "How You Doing" sammy which consists of fried chicken cutlets, roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella on a toasted hero bread. The preparation took around ten minutes but the wait was worth it. The craftsman who prepared it handed it to me and said " Now here's a sandwich and it is going to take a bit to finish".* I replied " Yeah, a whole week"! Lol! I love the charm of the place; there are little gems, statues, pictures, menus adorning walls, counter and behind the scenes. Charlie's Sandwich Shop in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn is owned by Charlie Bellomo along with his father, Salvatore Bellomo. This duo are serving "grand slams" sandwich style. I see many sandwiches in my future not just for me. How you doin? Just fine after tasting this delicious work of art! * take a look at my sandwich pic, tell me it is not the size of a boat?
