I came in on a Wednesday about 1230 and it was packed, it was the day before thanksgiving so that could be the reason, though anytime I come here there's always a crowd. We came in and were able to grab a table right away even with it being so crowded. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders quickly, but took a while to come back with our two iced coffees. Once she did we orders our meals, I got the grilled chicken house salad, and the person I was with ordered a hot soppressata with egg plant sandwich. The food was absolutely delicious. I love that salad and can eat it everyday, and the sandwich was equally as good. They have the best brick oven sandwich bread here. We also ordered a rice ball to split which was amazing. I went here after reading the review about this place having the best cheesecake. Bottom line: They definitely do not have the best cheesecake, or even a cheesecake that I'd put in my top-10. It was WAY too sweet, and the taste was completely off. I made the mistake of purchasing an entire cheesecake, and after a few bites, just pawned it off on my fiancee who will, more or less, eat anything. Also, tried their rainbow cookies. The key to fantastic rainbow cookies (or 7-layer cookies if you so choose to call them) is the filling between the layers. Not being able to even tell if there is jelly filling between the layers, is an epic fail. And at $15/lb.?!? That's ludicrous. Amazing. Everything about this place. My brother works close by and was always bragging about the sandwiches here. For the Super Bowl he brought home a 3 foot hero and some pizzas from here. 1/2 of the hero was chicken cutlet, eggplant, roasted peppers, the other 1/2 was "godfather" like. It was one of the best heroes I've had. Stopped in while I was in bay ridge and had a chicken sandwich. Grilled chicken, tomato, mayo and balsamic glaze. It was amazing. So simple and delicious. I've heard the lattes are delicious, but haven't had one. The pastries are very good. The selection is insane. Even if you just go there for the bread, it's worth it. The bread is so perfect. The quality has stayed consistently good, coffee is very unique and delicious, and the house salad, as you can infer from my sister's interpretation, is to die for. Service is very important to me because it prepares me for my meal. If the hospitality is great, I am more likely to enjoy and finish my food. The reason we passed on this place so many times was that we wanted a quiet weekend breakfast and this place is always busy and quite chaotic on weekend mornings with it being a sit-down cafe, a bakery and a takeaway counter all in the span of one storefront. Add to it, local housewives in their hardcore-Brooklyn accents swearing like sailors and you have quite the cacophony. As for the food, it's pretty good. The bread, absolutely great. After a morning run we were looking for something filling so we ordered a egg and sausage hero and it was gigantic. The fresh hero roll was crispy without being tough and soft on the inside. This was my 5th visit to Paneantico. Generally, I come here for what I consider to be the best sandwich I can get anywhere - B75 (Grilled Chicken, Mozzarella and Roasted Peppers). I'd been here once before for dessert, but often overlook that Paneantico isn't just an incredible sandwich job, it's also a remarkable bakery. Here's the rundown on what I had yesterday when I popped in for dessert after dinner: -Éclair - I'm not an Éclair guy, but this seemed pretty good -Oreo Cheesecake - solid- worth trying, but a little thicker than normal cheesecake -Cheesecake - Awesome! Some of the best cheesecake I've had anywhere. If you're not blown away by this cheesecake, then give up now and call it a life... P.S. This was good enough that I bought a full cheesecake to take home and freeze (only $12.50 - ridic). I've had their cannoli before and was impressed, but I'm not really a big cannoli fan. Now it wasn't just for the bakery/cafe but we are sorta scouting places to purchase an apartment in so Bay Ridge is on the list so what better way to scout is to go and take a look. I know know to stick to the sandwiches. Their bread, meat, cheeses, and condiments (can I say thick balsamic) are delicious and always hit the spot. Their warm foods and desserts can be good sometimes, but it is very hit or miss. I excitedly ordered a gorgeous stuffed artichoke and quickly realized the artichoke was barely cooked through and was inedible.
