The manager at this store (AA gentleman, didn't get his name) saved the day. My daughter was starting to pout and refusing to eat anything because they were out of her favorite chocolate chip bagels. Well some good customer service goes a long way. He told her he baked some but apologized for not baking enough that day. He then suggested the French toast bagel and she agreed to try it. I didn't think I would care so much about reviewing a Panera but this one is my favorite hands down. It's the same as other Panera's but even BETTER. The shopping center is still under major construction so it can be a little hard to get to. They have plenty of parking and are probably one of the few establishments that are up and running at this point. You walk in and are immediately greeted. I must have sneezed 8 times in a row, and was blessed by an employee each time. That is dedication. Ordering is easier. There is one place to order and not two separate sections like a lot of the other ones have for the bakery. Once you order they give you a device that tracks where you sit. They don't explain this, so I assumed that the little device would vibrate when my order was ready for pick up. We picked a place to sit and we saw that there was an entire section for carry out orders that are paid for online. They put your order up on the shelf, and you pick up when you arrive. No human interaction, in and out. Pretty awesome. While we were sitting and expecting to feel vibration from our device, we saw two Panera employees head over to our table with our food. Yes, you read this right. They BRING IT TO YOUR table. You no longer have to stand and wait, hoping that the tables aren't all gone by the time your food is ready. The device you are handed tells them on their computers where you are sitting and so they know exactly where to find you. Food was good - standard to the other locations. Service is better and much more high tech. Love it! read more

I went to the bathroom to wash my hand before placing my order. As I was in the restroom near the wash basin a person left the stall and walked out the bathroom without washing their hands. I glanced to look an noticed the person had on a panera shirt. I immediatedly went to the manager on duty and complain as i saw the person heading around the corner near the food station. The employee said something to her in Spanish. I told the manager if she is implying she washed her hands behind the double doors she entered, I don't believe it. She is nasty and this is disgusting. I wouldn't typically review a place like Panera - it's one of places that people either like or love and they'll go regardless of the ratings. But I work really close to this location, so when they opened up about two years ago, I was ecstatic. In the very beginning, there was definitely some quality issues (inconsistency), but they've since figured it out. The parking situation is HORRENDOUS, so my officemates and I usually place orders via Rapid Pick Up so one person can walk in, pick up the orders and be out within minutes. I like to customize my food (no this, extra that), and it's usually spot on. Every so often they'll forget something or get a side wrong, but that's okay. They're very apologetic about it. Now that Panera has joined in on the "no artificial additives and preservatives" movement, it gives me all the more reason to eat the food here. My favorite items: the asian sesame chicken salad, avacado blt sandwich and the strawberry & pecan oatmeal. Yummmm! read more

Yeah, I'll give it a 5, why not. I've always like Panera, this new shopping center went up within the last several months, its kind across the street from the Costco, on Rt. 1 in the Beltsville area (between Rhode Island Ave & Powder Mill Road). The restaurant has a decent parking lot, and the inside is clean. Ive been there about four times now, each at slightly different times of the day, from late morning/early aftn on a Saturday, and later evening, after 7:30 pm during the week. The place has never been loud, or overly crowded, and the wait for food has never been out of the ordinary, Just normal wait time for Panera food, the cooked to order sandwiches and a smoothie every now and then. The staff has always been friendly and pleasant too. Glad this one is in this location, its not too far from home, and food has always been good and fresh tasting. Crowd inside the restaurant is always good too, either people alone eating and reading or surfing the web, or small groups that fit in to their booths nicely that are not rude or making lots of noise. Love this Panera! This is one of my go to places for breakfast and lunch! Normally I use the rapid pick up. I rarely eat in. The rapid pickup is quick and easy! Just download the app, place your order and it will be ready when you get there l. Some locations have drive thru for those of you that don't feel like getting out of the car although this one does not. One downside is that the parking lot is a bit small, so at lunch time you may struggle to find a space. The staff is friendly! read more

College park and Beltsville area is limited to what they offer when it comes to "healthy". I eat lunch/rapid pick up here 5 days a week. The management is always friendly, most of the cashiers are (you'll always have a few wherever you go who are just plain rude/miserable in my opinion in this type of industry), but my food and order is always correct which is a huge plus for me since I'm always on the go and in a hurry. It's great to have a fast casual restaurant in the area where you can linger and get some work done utilizing their free WiFi. Plus, there is outside seating. Food: it's Panera. Came in today craving soup cuz it was pouring outside and Panera didn't disappoint the employees were rly friendly and helpful in suggesting sandwiches to try and the place was rly clean. This place is crazy at or around lunchtime. The staff is always very courteous and considering the line, they are fairly quick to get the food out. Just be prepared for little or no seating if you plan on eating there in the afternoon. Haven't tried in the morning or evening however. This Panera does take Apple Pay but you will need to chose the right register. They don't all have the consoles for it. read more

First visit to this panera since its been there. Ordered the Cobb salad with green goddess dressing, which was very good. The pickled onions give it a great punch. I also splurged on the lobster roll. It was ok and full of lobster. I could only eat half and I saved the other half for later. It could probably use some other type of dressing just to give it an extra kick because lobster roll was slightly bland with just mayo. I love the rapid pickup option. read more

I am so confused. I am currently here enjoying my meal while doing homework. And I just looked out the window, only to find an older man pulling sheets of dough out of the trunk of his Hyundai Elantra. He placed the sheets of dough on a rack and wheeled it back to the kitchen. Not sure if preparing dough outside the kitchen facilities and transporting it in someone's vehicle is apart of the Panera SOPs, but I know that can't be apart of the County or State Food Code. I love Panera Bread and their delicious pastry options. Their sandwiches are ok. The food definitely smells better than it tastes. I got the caprese sandwich and boy was it fragrant. The taste, almost okay. However their walnut spread is like heaven, goes absolutely perfect with their bagels. It is a little upsetting that they're out of pastries during certain times. I go mostly everyday to get lunch.Ask cashier for the size of a sanwich and she describe me the whole and the half sandwich. When i picked up at counter was only 1/4 sandwich. I ask her about my recent inquire and she acted like i supposed to know.Seems to me, in her reaction, I was guilty of ordering wrong, even after inquiring. Recently (twice within a week) my order has been incorrect. First, a bakery item was left out of my order even though I paid for it. Called them and was told I could come back and get it or get one the next time because "it's just a cookie..." Have you ever REALLY wanted something and didn't get it? That was me and this cookie!!!!!! But, I figured, whatev, no big deal...maybe I didn't need the cookie. Several days later, I called and ordered a salad, paid for it, arrive to pick it up and they don't have any record of the order. And apparently, the order number I had was irrelevant. Pretty sure I will never return to this location. The parking was horrendous. I came around lunch time on a Wednesday and there was absolutely nowhere to park, even in the neighboring parking lots. After driving around for about 15-20 minutes I finally got a spot. Ive only been to Panara bout 2 other times in my life, so I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. The workers were very unfriendly and seemed to be annoyed that I did not know what I wanted even though there was no body in line behind me. Absolutely wonderful staff and service, of course the food is good too! I called this location at 8:40 on a Friday night and spoke to Rhona. Explained that I had a party of very hungry teenage musicians from Ireland who had been traveling all day. We would be there in 10 minutes could they accommodate us? She was so hospitable and asked if by chance we could send them some of the orders to get started. I explained that these kids have never seen Panera before and don't have internet on their phones so they wouldn't know what they were ordering. She said no problem we'll be happy to assist. The crew there was so nice and worked very quickly to get us fed, happy and on the road again! THANK YOU Rhona and your crew! You have fans for life from County Down, Ireland! I work at a local business near Panera. We use them for catering as well as lunch hour visits. They get our order wrong more than 50% of the time, and even after providing feedback, they do not improve their customer service. Worse, they charge us for the corrected portion of the order. Poor reliability and customer service. Every order is a complete debacle. Update: another catering failure today. After a brief hiatus from Panera to allow them time to improve their service, I ordered a large delivery order today for 11:30 delivery. After 15 minutes of waiting, I called the store at 11:45. Their response: "I figured you wanted delivery but the order is written down as pick-up." Get it together, Panera. read more

I know this place is a chain and it is brand new but I can't cut them any slack since there were about 3 paying customers there and at least 40 employees. It looked like they were all in training. I placed my order at the counter and was told nothing. Finally one of the employees asked if I had been helped after waiting for over 10 minutes. I replied that I had been helped and continued to wait acknowledging the person that waited on me. Finally she looked up at me and said you have to pick up your order over there. There is no signage and no one told me that you have to go around the corner to another counter to pick up your food. THere was no indication that that is where you pick up your food. The cream of tomato soup tasted weird and metallic. I was not asked about a meal upgrade. The tomato mozzarella panini wasn't too bad but the classic mediterranean sandwich was bland and soggy. I spent over $40 on a couple of sandwiches and salads and it definitely was not worth it! I was happy that a new place to eat opened in Beltsville but I don't think this place is going to make it. read more

She started getting an attitude after I asked for creams and sugars for my coffee not knowing that establishment had a self served area . Compared to other Panera's, this one is really lackluster. My food always comes out below average and when I ask them to change it to what I ordered or rewarm it, all I get is attitude and a fear that its been spit in. For a chain, I would at least expect the food to be on par with the rest of the Panera's. The staff is pretty mediocre but I really only care about the food.
