Staff was friendly, service was quick. Pricing maybe just because everything feels so expensive now and I'm originally from New York felt a little pricey but I feel everything does right now. Also convenience factor and I did see they seem to have some sort of reward system so I guess if you frequent enough maybe you do get a break on future orders. These bagels are made fresh. When you enter they have a bagel making station to the left. It's located right inside the hotel. I loved their everything and Asiago cheese bagels. The bagels were crunchy and there was a soft interior. The location was really clean and the staff moved with urgency to prepare the food. They do have a large dining area as well. I went here the other day before a meeting. The service was great. I like how quickly they take your order and get you your food and/or beverages. I really appreciate that they have gluten-free bagels. I had a gluten-free everything bagel breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage. I didn't get cheese. It was still flavorful. I also got a dirty chai with oat milk. It was just what I needed to wake up. They have high top and regular tables to ensure there are various seating options. As an avid bagel lover, that is used to New York bagels, I was a bit disappointed with this bagel overall. The bagel was pretty thin and not the fluffy texture that I'm used to, I wish there was more evenly spread out everything bagel seasoning as it seemed pretty sparse. They put a decent amount of cream cheese, which I appreciated. However, there wasn't much bacon, and it all seemed to be put just in the middle of it. They validate parking, which is nice as it can be tricky in this area, the staff was really friendly and the establishment was clean, but I don't think I would come here for another bagel. read more

So b4 touring university of Maryland you go to "The Hotel" (yes that's what it's called) to check in before touring the campus. It's a Fabulous Hotel with 4 restaurants,pizza shop on the outside of the building and this Gem of a spot. After our drive we decided to grab a quick bite before the orientation started. I decided I just wanted a jalapeño and cheddar cheese bagel with cream cheese and coffee. The bagel are made on site and I was pleasantly surprised how chewy it was, just like my favorite bagel spot in NYC,it had a nice kick to it. The coffee was fantastic there are several urns to choose from, I decided on the Kona macadamia nut coffee. It had such a rich and bold taste best coffee I had on a road trip. Service was excellent. they tried to argue with me that I was late and there after 2 o'clock though they told me that they saw me walking around, trying to enter the restaurant before then to pick up an order so they refuse to make it again and told me to just be on my way. I literally spoke to some back of house, guy, a front house girl, and then the store manager all before 205 and they tried to convince me that I wasn't there before too even though they saw me walking and I had those conversations with three separate people all before 5 minutes after. So they literally saw me walking around, trying to enter the store associated me with the delivery that they claim to no longer have because it was after 2 o'clock though they said I was there and they saw me and I spent time walking around the building trying to enter and talking to three separate people. read more

This was a good quick stop. Bagels were freshly made, but bready for my taste. It depended on the type of bagel you got. The plain was chewy, the wheat had a perfect bagel texture with a crisp skin. The eggstremely healthy bagel was tasty, but a huge mess before I even took a bite. My husband's melt used crumbled bacon instead of strips and the bagel wasn't toasted for a melt.... The latte I ordered was watered down tasting and only half filled. The table next to me took a sip of their iced latte and had to go order something else because they didn't like it. The smoothies people were ordering looked really good, but I did not try one myself. Overall, I would go back if I was just trying to make a quick breakfast stop, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I wasn't aware of bagels and grinds location until I got there. It's in the corner of The Hotel and the trees covered the name. I will say the only frustrating part of this experience was the parking. However it's not the reason for the minus 1 star. The service was pretty ok. I will say it could've been better and I was definitely left hungry. Mainly because my bagel was truly lacking cream cheese. While my son did enjoy his bagel, he ended up not liking it due to the excessive amount of cream cheese. While it was a good experience. We most likely won't go back again. read more

The variety of bagels is fresh and delicious. I usually freeze some to enjoy at a later date, and once thawed, they taste just as good as they did the day I bought them. I'd like to also mention that the staff is amazing. They always greet me when I walk in and consistently show patience and kindness. I'm certain this reflects the leadership of the store manager, Rob. On one occasion, I entered the store feeling depressed while dealing with family issues. Rob noticed and took a moment to say a few kind words that genuinely lifted my spirits. I was so touched that I hugged him. Though he didn't know me, he showed true compassion to a complete stranger. Rob is a special person who truly made my day. Both he and the staff deserve recognition and a raise for their outstanding service. read more

I was visiting the hotel for a conference and needed a quick bite to eat so bagels n grinds was the go to. It does get busy during the lunch time but there is an option to order online. This became my favorite bagel place once it opened a few years ago, but the service is steadily worsened. This morning I was in there and a tall curly hair gentleman with his hair in sort of a. Ponytail was on the register and he was playing a cell phone game. When I walked up, he seemed disappointed. He reluctantly took my order and was annoyed the whole time, then I asked for four bagels to go, and his attitude seemed to get worse. He threw my bagels in the bag, turned and walked away. The bright side is the food was good, but I will be finding a new place to go. I recommend that ownership should start over with front of the house staffing. read more

I have passed this place many times in the past and have wanted to try it but the parking situation isn't the easiest since you have to park in a parking garage or a little further behind it at the parking meters so I continued to pass it. I was pleasantly surprised when I finally went. Everything I had was good. The service was also very friendly. The ambiance was super chill. I liked the way the seating was arranged in different ways around the store (booths, chairs, stools, or sofa). The lighting is great and I'm sure better on sunny days since the store has large window walls that face route 1. I got a parfait which was satisfying. They are pre-made so if you're really hungry and want something fast, this is an option. I also got a cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese. It was delicious but a bit messier than I would have liked. Their fruit frozen drinks are delicious. My daughter got a breakfast wrap which had mushrooms, cheese, eggs, and I think small cuts of green pepper. It was quite good. This place is the worst. I ordered sausage and egg on bagel, the sausage was nasty, all diced up or however they made it. I asked for butter and jelly in an egg bagel, bagel was drenched with butter and NO jelly!!! I'm from Jersey and where I'm from, any normal bagel shop puts the spread in the bagel for you but I had to do it myself. I'm definitely avoiding this place next time I'm in college park, MD. They definitely stand out by cooking the meat in with the egg whites. Although i got a much thinner sandwich this time than last. It was still good. LOWER THE VOLUME ON THE BLASTING MUSIC!! Seriously, this is a breakfast spot and no one wants to have ringing ears first thing in the morning while trying to start the day. You can't hear yourself think, let alone converse with anyone else. Being that you are in a hotel, a vast number of guests are there for business purposes and trying to conduct business over breakfast or lunch. Juices, coffee, yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit, etc. Salads, wraps, sandwiches, and soups as well. Do yourself a favor and order ahead. The line can be a fairly long wait. You don't have to order at the counter in order to take advantage of the spacious seating, ample tables and comfy armchairs. Really the perfect breakfast spot if you're staying at the hotel. The prices may be a touch high for college kids, but if you're staying at the hotel, you just may prefer things a bit quieter anyway. read more

Good service, fresh bread. They use bacon bits instead of real bacon, which is more practical for a more distributed approach to a bacon egg and cheese. A good amount of cheese on there as well. I enjoy that they give you cream cheese in a to-go container so you can keep it in the fridge for later. This place has potential! The space is cute and located at The Hotel! I stopped in a few days ago to order a coffee and bagel to go. I guess students must be back from winter break - there was a bit of a line. I ordered a jalapeno cheddar bagel toasted with butter and a small coffee. It came to $5.24 (kinda pricey to me - I mean this is a college town after all)! Anyway, the employee who rang me up didn't seem very happy to be there. He didn't greet me at all and just seemed annoyed in general. He kept telling me he couldn't hear me with my mask on! I guess I should have yelled. The bagel was drenched in butter and the coffee was ok tasting and lukewarm (not hot). What a waste. Again, this is a cute space with ample seating (including outdoor), but I'm not a fan and won't be in a hurry to come back here! read more

We visited BnG's for the first time today and what a great place! We had the LEO bagel and a cheese, egg and bacon bagel. Also potato soup. I absolutely love Bagels and Grinds. I go at least once a week with my friends and it is always the highlight of my week. Their food is delicious and they even have a gluten free option. The ambiance is perfect for chatting or studying. But the best part about Bagels is Rob, one of the employees who does customer service like no other. He always has a smile on his face and is so happy to help his customers. He brings so much personality to his work. I am always so happy to see him behind the register and he knows my order by heart. If I could give Rob more than 5 stars, I would. Without Rob, Bagels and Grinds is just a bagel and coffee shop. With Rob, it is my favorite place in College Park. read more

Bagels 'n Grinds is part of the swanky Hotel UMD. I picked up a baker's dozen of bagels here. Kudos to the employee who put together my order for their awesome counting skills - because I certainly wasn't keeping track! They have a good variety of flavors and prices are reasonable for the bagels themselves, but prices get steeper for the sandwiches. I tried the egg, sundried tomato, and Asiago bagels. Other flavors that made up my order included garlic, everything, sea salt, poppyseed, and pumpernickel. I wasn't impressed with packaging - they threw all of the bagels into a brown paper bag with handles (ie. it didn't close). When transporting food, I prefer my food to be covered. I also ordered a sliced, toasted, and buttered sundried tomato bagel. The 14 bagels that I got cost a little over $15. Sundried tomato and Asiago cheese are two of my favorite bagel flavors. While all of the bagels were soft and chewy, I found them to be lacking in flavor. The first sundried tomato bagel hardly had any sundried tomatoes mixed in, and with the exception of the lone sundried tomato stuck to the crust, it could've passed for a plain bagel. The Asiago bagel was ok, though I've had cheesier tasting bagels elsewhere. I did enjoy the egg bagel, which was sweeter and softer than the rest. It's a nice space; there's plenty of seating and outlets. It wasn't busy when I went on a weekday morning (but it was also during winter break so no students were on campus). Several groups of customers trickled in shortly after I arrived; most of the customers appeared to be guests at the hotel. While these bagels are better than the generic bagels that are catered or on campus, I won't be going out of my way to come back to Bagels 'n Grinds. read more
