Two of the nicest young folks are teamed up here at the Belvidere Oasis Panera, working so hard to handle a lunch rush. Great service, so pleasant and efficient. Please remember to bring a $1 or two to tip these kids. This is a tough job! Very speedy service and my order is perfect. I hate all sauces and my sandwich was made exactly as I asked, no sauces of any kind! Thank you. The Oasis itself isn't my favorite but it is clean and the bathrooms are spacious so rarely a line. I hate whenever I have to leave a poor review, yet this one is absolutely justified. So I go to order and they're out of bread bowls. Fine. I pivot and ask for a lunch meal deal. I was charged for both the lunch meal deal and a full sized sandwich. Then was given sides I didn't even order or have the option to get - why have options when I pick my options and don't get what I ordered. The cashier then did the same thing to my parents who were behind me and we each ended up spending $15+ on things we didn't even order/want. And we're really clear in ordering what we wanted, it's not like it was our first time ever going to Panera for lunch. But you know, don't want to say anything because it was just easier to try and roll with it. My bread was hard, the soup runny, and my sandwich overcooked and greasy. We were on our way east to pick up an old clock from Tick Tock Clocks (I know, catchy name) and decided to stop for lunch at the Belvidere Oasis. A lot of these Oases are being torn down (I guess people don't stop anymore) so this was kind of a trip down memory lane for those of us as kids who'd watch the traffic fly by out the windows. Yeah, nobody was doing that. We toured the selections available (and there were quite a few, and settled on Panera Bread. My wife ordered their Toasted Garden Caprese, which the best way to describe it was "messy." When she opened the wrapper, stuff was everywhere. She ordered the half sandwich, and got soup and chips with it. I went for the whole Tomato Basil BLT. Good thing too - it was heavy on the tomato and basil, not so heavy on the bacon. The sandwiches were good. Both came with a cookie since we ordered a meal, and the cookies were nice, large, and soft. The soft drink machine worked. The seating area was a bit messy - but it's an Oasis - so people seem to forget to clean up their messes. Check out was a breeze. We were back on the highway in no time. read more

Got a SW Chicken Ranch Salad at this rest stop Panera location. Was 10 or 15 miles down the road before realizing there was no chicken on the salad. So that was dissatisfying. Since the receipt says "accuracy matters" and "your order should be correct every time" I decided to call about it. The manager said he could only do something for us if we returned to that Panera location. Told him we were traveling from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin and back, so it was very doubtful we'd be back at his Panera. Said there was nothing he could do. This was very disappointing. I guess Panera doesn't really believe that accuracy matters. Seems to me it should be easy for a nationwide chain like Panera to issue a certificate for one of their menu items that's good at any of their locations. read more

Stopped here for a quick breakfast while on the road from Illinois to Wisconsin. The healthiest item on the menu for the lowest calories appeared to be the steel cut oatmeal with almonds, quinoa & honey for $4.49. At 300 calories, it was a satisfying and nice, hot meal on a cold morning to fill me up and fuel me for our hike at Devil's Lake later on that morning. A little bit on the sweet side from all the honey, but that made it a bit decadent, too. read more

Terrible service at this Panera location on Sunday morning 6/17/18. I stopped in with my wife for some breakfast sandwiches on the way to Wisconsin from Chicago. Ended up wasting 20+ minutes here. Here are a few issues we had: (A) My wife requests no bag for her boxed sandwich (it's already packaged and we're going to eat immediately), & the worker refuses citing 'sanitary reasons.' We weren't insisting on giving back a used bag, but rather that she not give us one at all. You can't save it for someone else? So into the recycling it went, immediately, unused. (B) When we got halfway back to car, I realized they didn't give me the iced coffee (or cup to fill myself) I ordered. So I went back and told them and worker says defensively, "normally the cups are already out." She didn't look at the order and think to tell me that, however, and the cups weren't out. (C) Back at the car after getting coffee, we saw that my wife's bagel sandwich is horribly cut in an asymmetrical way that would make it difficult to eat (see pic attached). We went back inside to let them know and request a new bagel cut down the middle. Workers act confused but apologize insincerely. They took the sandwich back and we waited 5 minutes while they remake it, only to have the second one come out the SAME! What is wrong with these workers that makes them think this in any way solves the problem they caused in the first place that we brought to their attention?! So we told them it's the same issue, & they say it's their bagel cutting machine. So I tell them it's obviously not calibrated and they offer to cut a new bagel by hand (what they should have immediately done when assembling the first sandwich & realizing the machine screwed up! How do you not do this automatically after the customer points out the issue?!) (D)(lower priority, but first chronologically) We used kiosks to order but wanted to purchase a pastry after--two registers have issues with this purchase, with one associate saying there is a 2 hour limit on reswiping a myPanera card. So no points for this purchase despite spending more money. Maybe this is a corporate issue and not location specific, but I haven't run into this elsewhere. I am baffled by the lack of attention or service today at this establishment by this staff. I am normally on the workers' side but this was pathetic. We won't be returning to this location despite taking this route often throughout the year. read more

This Panera closes 15 minutes before it's official close times. Don't bother pulling off the highway if you're within 15 minutes of their close time. They don't even answer the drive-thru. read more

I know it's a brand new place but they are really nice here. You can tell the employees care and they even have a drive through!
