I come here pretty often but they need to work harder in the drive thru. i will be on my lunch break and have 30 minutes and by the time i get it it's time to go in. Food is always hot and fresh. I let it slide when I ordered a toasted garden caprsee sandwich and added chicken but they forgot the chicken. But I just ordered a strawberry chicken caprese salad. I was very recently at this Panera Bread in Carbondale Il. The service was good. The food was good. However the place was nasty. If the front of the house was so dirty I'm afraid to think what it was like where my food was prepared. The floors (carpet) were so dirty. The restroom was very dirty and there were some clothing laying in the floor of the handicap stall. When I looked at it the floor and back of the toilet was terrible. Black. I don't even think a full fledged review is necessary. We ordered soup with bread bowls, with chips because they "didn't have any bread" Should have taken that as a hint to just leave. (This was two and a half hours before closing) The person taking our order was completely inaudible to the point where we just started shaking our heads yes. We got our food partially cold and in regular bowls. To which they then told us after we paid and tipped them, they are also out of bread bowls. Really disappointed and really dissatisfied. I ordered a bagel pack and when I got home 4 of the bagels were sliced like this. Listen, I've worked at a panera before and I know its a crappy job, but you don't send out bagels sliced like that. So Panera got rid of the Thai salad that was great for this "Asian" salad. It's literally Romain lettuce, wonton strips, sesame seeds, and dressing. That's it. Loved this past. I went to college here, and this was definitely one of my main places. Whether I stopped through the drive thru and took my order home or studied inside Very nice, clean place with a good staff and delicious food. Yes, it isn't all that cheap but you're paying for the quality of food. I love the frozen coffees and smoothie options. The French bagettes with some butter are good too. This is a sandwich/salad place with bagels and pastry choices as well. Fountain drinks as well as some speciality drinks. read more

This place is going downhill very quickly. It seems like they've lost a lot of good management. Everyone behind the counter was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. The manager was dismissive when part of my order was forgotten. The cashier was clearly new and no one would help her out. The signs hadn't been flipped over and I was trying to order lunch because they were serving it and I couldn't remember the name of the item I was ordered so the cashier had to read off of her ordering screen. I ordered the flatbread which I have been wanting to try and a salad but I can't tell you if they were any good because I never received my order. Apparently they called an incorrect or old number when they arrived and they will not come in unless you answer this call, instead of taking the food back to the restaurant they just left it outside of the building where I work. Who knows who wound up with my food. Panera did offer to bring me out new food, but by this time my work day was over and I wasn't about to stay over to get my food delivered so I just got a refund. Very disappointing. I gave them a three star still even though this service didn't deserve it, because I am normally pretty satisfied with their service. I will order from there again, but I thought I deserved some other compensation, like a free scone or something with my next order for my trouble. read more

Granted I should do myself a favor and check my bag before leaving but when you're on your way to work or home that's all you're thinking about. My brother and my husband and I stopped by here to get a quick lunch before heading to the mall. There is a lot of seating. I had the chai tea which was one of the best I have ever had. I've been ordering a lot from there . . . the last few experiences were not great. Carbondale likes to put cilantro on EVERYTHING. So following their online ordering menu you can customize to remove that. To their credit, they usually follow those instructions pretty well. However they will randomly add LOTS of cilantro to other items that on the menu shouldn't have it (so you can't specify 'NO CILANTRO'). I called and talked to a manager about this . . . They added a handful of finely chopped cilantro to my chicken and bacon flatbread. So I called to tell them the kitchen was not following the online menu (which makes ordering online next to impossible). She did offer a coupon . . . which was fine. But then she proceeded to tell me I was wrong and that the flatbread should have cilantro on it even after I told her the online menu didn't list it (so you can't remove it) AND I'd ordered it several times prior w/out it having cilantro. I was told 'I guess we finally made it right this time.' I will not be risking this again given this response. read more

My food was decent, but the service was terrible. The cashier who took my order, I believe her name is Jaden, seem to be a little uncomfortable taking my order. A few of my friends, who are White, went before me and she greeted them with a big smile. I noticed she kept staring back at me though. This Panera location is just ok. For being a vegetarian there isn't many options. I've been to this location a handful of times for lunch and they always seem to mess my order up. Went here a few weeks ago and got a cobb salad.. I ordered it with no chicken and no bacon but asked if I could add extra avocado to it and they charged me for it.
