Second coffee and second office, I stopped here for about two hours this morning. Clean, comfortable and good coffee. I found a quiet table towards the back where I was not disturbed during my stay. Took my husband here because my first experience at the Fort Oglethorpe GA location was so amazing I wanted him to try it! Was so disappointed! The order taker was no help in describing what the specials were, what was included in the choose 2 and got the order wrong to boot. Whatever machine they were using was SO loud we could barely hear each other and frankly it was super annoying. They didn't have any soup ready so I ordered a salad with my 1/2 French dip ciabatta dipper and she gave me a full size salad and charged us for it when I clearly said I wanted the choose 2. My husband asked for a baguette and got chips and the French dip and au jus were so bland with no flavor. Silverware was filthy. The one positive, worthy of the 3 stars I gave, was that the Cobb salad I ended up getting was really delicious! Was going to try to get the order corrected, but then they got slammed with a long line of people so we just left. Wasn't given a receipt so I couldn't call a number or visit their website before leaving a bad review. I'll stick to the Fort Oglethorpe location from now on. read more

Been a while since last visited a Panera; It a straightforward less expensive eats option when u in a rush, lo key mood, travelin, or just wants a salad. Their soups r superb. French Onion rocks. Corn Chowder & Thai Chicken also v good ;) If in a 'trying to be healthy' mood, go for one of their many salads w quinoa. Try the Asian Sesame, easy goto. Food was cold after we waited over 20 minutes for it. We were one of only two other family customers at 6:15 on Mother's Day morning. The "manager" said our name was called but in a quiet setting we never heard our name called. We received our refund for the cold food all the while the manager was insisting our name had been called. Questionable if we will be returning to this location. read more

Both sandwiches were good, the coffee fresh. Didn't like that you had to ask for Almond milk and they pour you some into your cup from the fridge. Normally Almond milk is always available together with other milks and creamers at the coffee station. Staff was friendly. read more

An employee was playing behind the counter, flapped a piece of cardboard like a bird, dropped it on the floor and then put it on the counter in the food prep area. Complained to manager who put me on hold without announcing he was doing so and didn't come back--basically hung up on me-- because I complained about this and other food safety issues that if employees had decent training wouldn't happen. read more

Updated 1/30/2023 After choosing not to eat at this Panera because of the poor quality in 2016, we decided to give them another try. Nope, still unimpressed. This time we went late Sunday morning, fairly busy. Ordering our food went very smoothly - we ordered a couple pastries to go, and a quiche and scone and a Pick 2 for dining in. The Pick 2 was a sandwich, soup, and baguette. My husband took his food and the take out to the table and I went to wait at the counter for my food to be cooked. The cashier had given me a pager. I waited approximately 10-15 min for my food to be finished and called. Organization seemed to be ok, but not stellar. In the time I was waiting for my food, ONE other pager was used; all other food was placed on the counter and a name was called out. Two large orders were called numerous times, while the counter piled up. Did I mention that the restaurant was fairly busy? - I don't know how people were expected to hear their names being called, they had no pagers. Food servers were too busy to notice a lady picking up a plate, opening the sandwich, and asking if this was hers - this is the reason I wait at the counter for my food, to make sure that customers don't touch my food before I get to it. read more

Ok so I will say being in a hurry sometimes will start these reviews off on the wrong foot but I really enjoyed visiting this Panera.. I use to visit the Panera for year in my hometown and after numerous to a few mismanaged establishments I got a bad impression of a once loved restaurant That being said came in all 3 workers working on mobile orders and drive thru.. this kind of starts off bad but I was acknowledged so I didn't give up.. I again waited behind mobile orders to get my food prepared but it wasn't a long wait.. I had to fix my coffee anyway and thank god the real pre covid coffee station has refined! I have missed this so much! It's such a burden to ask for exactly how many packs of sugar or have someone pour your cream. Never was exactly right taste... anyway that bagel sandwich was so good! I have been eating fast food most mornings and to get a fresh bagel prepared before work was amazing. It was made very well and will return again. Driving through the area and stopped for lunch. I ordered a tuna sandwich with no tomato. It was made incorrectly, WITH tomato, and the tomato was taken off instead of the sandwich being remade. I don't like tomatoes because of the texture, and the slimy seeds were left all over the tuna salad. If you are going to give a substandard quality sandwich to a customer, at least give the customer a means to take the slimy disgusting seeds off the sandwich, like a fork or knife. Who doesn't love the food here? One of my favorite places to go eat in this city. Convenient location. It does get a little busy though.

Asked for crispy bacon. Came out underdone for my taste. Advised there is a microwave that we can use. After paying 3.59 for approximately one slice of bacon, it would be expected that one shouldn't have to microwave one's own order. Rude staff, greasy tables and poor service sums up my experience at this poor excuse for a restaurant. read more

Stopped for lunch here on our travels. Convenient location off I-75. We ordered soup & sandwiches. I had the turkey sandwich & squash soup: yum! My husband had the French onion soup & steak/cheese panini: he really enjoyed it. Our daughter ordered the turkey BLT. Too much mayo on it & she scraped it off before eating; will remember to say no mayo or very light mayo next time; otherwise, also very good. The girls at the front counter were very friendly. I would give this Panera 5 stars had it been easy to find a CLEAN table. Not busy & girl working in that area was more concerned about sweeping crumbs off the floor than making sure the tables were wiped clean; looked in both sides of seating area to find a clean/wiped off table. Ended up taking a napkin & brushing crumbs off but table needed a good wipe down. On our way out, we bought some cookies & they were delicious. read more

Panera Bread is fairly consistent everywhere. The food is pretty good. The people are typically fairly friendly. There is a decent variety from which to choose. My only real complaint is that they got rid of my favorite sandwich. No more Asiago roast beef. . Not that I go to Panera often, but that was my go to. RIP Asiago roast beef! read more

Visited Sunday morning about 9:30 am. The service was very slow they seem to be understaffed. The health inspection was a 91 but many surfaces were dusty and unclean. The food was average we generally choose to drive to Einsteins in Chattanooga. Better staffing to allow for as prompt greeting and order taking will put people at ease while their order is prepared. read more

This is as good as Dalton fast food gets...minus the grease. While this isn't fine dining, I have never been disappointed with the service or quality at Panera Bread in Dalton. I have stopped in on numerous occasions for the chicken noodle bread bowl (which is sooo fantastic) or the Pick Two sandwich and soup combo. I recommend the creamy tomato soup with just about anything! I never have to wait more than three minutes for my food, and I can be on my way to a busy day! Additionally, it is located in a really nice shopping centre if you are looking to burn some calories afterwards. read more

Always friendly associates, always fast food and always delicious. I eat here a few times a week for lunch (and breakfast on the weekends) and I'm never disappointed. Food and service are always good here. I get what I order, it tastes great, and the customer service is top notch. Came for lunch at 11, no one was in line but me but they had plenty of people in the dining room. I ordered there pick 2, Fuji chicken salad and their corn chowder soup. I was informed I had a free bagel daily until the end of the month and a free coffee or soda for my bday gift. I opted for the cinnamon crunch bagel sliced and toasted. Received my pager and waited no longer then a couple of minutes before my food came. I came for a lunch date with an old friend and she her food was also made in a super timely manner. My only problem here is that there bathrooms were a little dirty. Besides that, panera never fails me. It's an old stomping ground for me since college and I'm a very loyal customer. Always have a great experience here and I go at least once a week. Each time I use the rapid pick up from the app and it makes life soooo much easier. In a world full of grease filled salt crusted fast food, Panera shines as an example of tasty food made quickly and NOT out of a deep fat fryer. This location is as good as any Panera, the ambiance is nice, but what makes this location special to me is the small town feel. I am a local Dalton resident and I have never been in this store without bumping into a friend from town. I hope this location stays open for a very long time. read more

I'm very frustrated with Panera Bread corporate. Panera used to be one of my favorite places to get breakfast. I always got the whole wheat bagel with the sundried tomato cream cheese. Even if I got something sweet on the side, I'd eat at least half the bagel and all of the little container of cream cheese. Then, last time I went with my husband for breakfast, we were told the sundried tomato had been discontinued--a corporate decision. We walked out the door furious and I have NEVER been back there for breakfast since then. As far as I'm concerned, their breakfast now deserves 1 star at best. Sure, they have lots of other choices, but these are things you can find elsewhere, even in your grocery store. The cream cheese was what made them sooooo special to me, and now it is gone. When I lived in Augusta, we had a Panera and an Atlanta Bread. Both had sundried tomato, though the one from Atlanta Bread had a tendency to upset my stomach pretty much every time I ate it. Besides, in Dalton, there is no Atlanta Bread. Not even one in Chattanooga like I thought there would be. So I'm especially disappointed that my cream cheese has been taken away. If it was discontinued back when tomatoes were scarce and pricey, I understand. But bring it back already!!! Now, as much as I *used to love* Panera Bread for breakfast, I never really found anything I liked for lunch or dinner. There, Atlanta bread was always my choice. Their soups are better and their bread bowls are much, much, much better--like night and day. (I'm lazy--but on a nice fall day, I'd pretty much walk a marathon if I got Atlanta Bread's butternut squash soup, minus sour cream, waiting for me in a bread bowl at the end. I'm not sure I'd cross the street for Panera's best soup in one of their incredibly crappy bread bowls.) I'm not much of a sandwich person, but I must say, whenever I tried a sandwich at Panera I was usually disappointed; whenever I tried one at Atlanta Bread, I tended to be pleasantly surprised. So we never really went there for lunch or dinner. Then, they came out with the asian chicken salad. It is romaine lettuce, chunks of chicken, edamame, crispy noodles, and peanut sauce. It may have a few other ingredients, but these are the ones I recall. It comes with a vinegrette dressing, but I always leave that off and order extra peanut sauce instead. It comes in a huge bowl and I get it with the chunk of french bread. It is amazing! The salad deserves 5 stars. Sadly, if they ever take it away, I will be back to not liking anything about Panera Bread. I have not found anything else on the menu (to eat--they do have some good drinks) that I like enough to draw me into the place. Let's face it--they are kind of pricey. So only time will tell. I guess I can hardly recommend Panera whole heartedly based on one single menu item. So, that's why I kind of averaged my breakfast and lunch/dinner scores. 3 is too low for the salad, 3 is too high for my opinion of them overall, so I'm a bit torn. Ah well. If you want to try the place for the first time, I strongly suggest looking up the menu ahead of time online and planning for your trip there. If you pick the thing which sounds the best to you and you don't like it as much as you thought you would, then you will know Panera is not for you. If you love it, you can try something else the next time. If the next time lets you down, then maybe like me you have found the one thing you like about the restaurant. Enjoy it while it lasts. Consistently good food and service. I really like their selection of soups as an alternative to fast food.

I am a fairly regular customer, at least a couple mornings per week. The food is generally pretty good. One of my favorite breakfasts is a pecan braid with coffee. I can always tell when I walk in if my favorite baker is there. The pecan braid will have a nice covering of icing. If she isn't there, it's like they are trying to save money by just drizzling a little icing over the pecan braid. If you're going to have "junk food " for breakfast, cover it in icing !! The staff are generally friendly and efficient. One other problem that should be addressed is the lack of a full time barista. When the person taking the order has to stop to make a specialty hot drink or smoothie, the line to order comes to a screeching halt and backs up. Either hire a barista or put more people on the front line. read more

We stopped for an early dinner around 4 pm last night during a road trip. We are loyal Panera customers and so we've been to many locations all over the country, but this experience truly stands apart. I was shocked to see so much refuse all over the floor: bits of food, napkins, etc. all over. All tables were dirty. I had to wipe one for my family. It didn't look like the staff wipes tables after customers. Clean napkins were nowhere to be found. I had to ask a staff member behind the counter for napkins after using their restroom since their restroom was out of paper towels and they don't have hand driers there. Also, the only toilet was very dirty and overflowing with used soft tissue. I politely mentioned this issue to someone from the staff and could see she was taken aback. read more
