Today I stopped in for lunch. I was disappointed that the dining room for whatever reason, because I was looking forward to an indoor dining experience for lunch. With that being said, I ordered at the drive thru and took my food back to my hotel room to eat. The speed of service from the time of order placement to receiving my order was awesome (about a five minute or less wait) considering the speed of service at other fast-food restaurants in the area. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken & Bacon Flatbread Pizza. The flatbread pizza was an excellent choice. There could have been a little more chicken and bacon on the pizza, but it was hot, fresh, and very tasty. All the ingredients complimented each other, and the toppings were adequately distributed across the flatbread pizza. The bread was perfectly baked, the grape tomatoes were fresh, the fontina and mozzarella blend tasted very good, and the garlic cream sauce did not overpower the other flavors. read more

Fresh fruit on my salad was sad and limp. Soup quality has really gone down hill also. Steak sandwhich was ok.

We stopped by on our drive home and decided to go in. They had about 4 people behind the counter chatting, but no one was taking orders (apparently it was "kiosk only"). Despite having extra time because they didn't need to take orders, the place was disgusting. There was food on the floor, trays that looked like they'd been sitting there for hours, and even the garbage had gnats everywhere. As for the food... it's Panera. I did get a weirdly bitter bite out of my chicken noodle soup and it was so hot it melted the plastic lid, but otherwise it was edible. read more

I've never had a bad meal at Panera Bread. This location is always clean with friendly service. There are plenty of seats to fit your mood for the day: outdoor, indoor, near a window, or far away from one. The dining area is usually quiet, even on crowded days. WiFi is fast and reliable. Like a fast-food establishment, patrons order from a counter, pick up food themselves, and bus their own tables. I generally order a soup and a sandwich. While portions are not as hearty for the price, the meals are usually filling. There is a drink station with soft drinks (they serve Pepsi products) and several freshly brewed iced teas. Access to this location is difficult: there is only one entrance from Nelson Road going southbound. If you miss it, you have to turn right at the next intersection, and take some small roads to enter through the back. Overall, I've always enjoyed this place and it has never failed me to provide a quick bite that is a step up from typical fast food. read more

Stopped to have a quick lunch here, with a friend. I had only ever eaten here once, 7 years ago. The lady who was at the register and the ladies who were cooking, were super sweet. The cooks heard me ask about the thickness of broccoli cheddar soup, and promptly answered for the lady at the register! Also, the ladies in the back made sure to greet me when I went up to get my food, so customer service was good. Nevertheless, the prices were way too high, I've never paid $22 for soup, sandwich and drink. Especially, when it was within a "pick 2" deal. That was not a good deal. My friend and I both had the broccoli cheddar soup, the flavor was okay; neither of us finished it. Also, she had a turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich (she enjoyed it) and I had the turkey, pepperoni, mozzarella melt. My sandwich was very tasty, there was plenty of bread and cheese but could've used more meat. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is the ambience, which was nonexistent, due to the filth. I went to the restroom after ordering and it was disgusting. The dining area was worse than the restroom the floors had trash and food everywhere and apparently no one had been cleaning tables after guest left because it was hard to find a table that was not dirty. We ended up choosing a table in the back that looked like it hadn't been used and upon leaving I noticed a dead bug under the table that had obviously been there a while, per it being smashed into the carpet. My fiance came to visit and was starting to feel sick and hadn't eaten anything all morning. He said he wanted something light. Like soup or something to see if that would help settle his stomach. So what better place to get a delicious soup but Panera Bread located on Nelson Road lake Charles La near Lauberge Hotel and Casino and Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. I ordered a Chicken Noodle Soup bowl for him and for me myself I ordered the Turkey Panini and a cup of Vegetable Soup and a Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had visited Panera Bread a few times before purchasing pastries, and cookies for the holidays. I've always had a Great experience, and the staff is always very nice and accommodating. My only complaint sometimes is the drive thru service. It's always really slow at theo window, but in all fairness the wait is definitely worth it. read more

We visited this location in hope of getting some Broccoli Cheddar soup; however, they were out of it two hours before closing time and could not give us a straight answer on when it would be ready. That being said there were about 5 people in the back on an extremely slow day...I ordered a sandwich, they were out of the specific bread for that too, but this turned out great. I asked for an apple on the side, and got an old apple with brown mushy spots once I bit into it. I would not recommend. Keep on driving to Texas or further into Louisiana and maybe they you'll find a better Panera. read more

Tuscan chicken sandwich is erved without the chicken or mayo. They only put limp arugalq and hunks of uncut roasted tomatoes. The ten vegetable soup had a huge hunk of cut lemon. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. Manager reported the employees were too nervous to get orders right, refused a refund but could give a gift card. I have always loved coming to this Panera for lunch and for the occasional smoothie. But today I ordered my usual smoothie and the rude manager that tended to me told me that I could not have a mango-strawberry mixed smoothie because "it is against their policy" and he would have to charge me DOUBLE for the same smoothie because of the two different flavors. Even though I have gotten the same smoothie multiple times before and never had a problem, I understood that it might not have been in their policy, but as a previous employee I know it involves little to no effort to mix the two flavors and it does not yield any more smoothie than usual. I even informed the manager that I had chosen Panera over Smoothie King and drove across town JUST for the smoothie, and he still was rude and unwilling to mix the two flavors for me I would have not minded paying $.50-$1.00 upcharge, but DOUBLE the price for the same amount of smoothie!? RIDICULOUS. They lost me as a frequent valued customer. I used to stand up for their over-priced food because of the high quality food and service, but after today, I will find some other place to get my smoothie and over-priced panini fix. read more

Overpriced? YES. Delicious? Oh, yes. I've enjoyed this place in Houston & now here in LC. Unfortunately the traffic in this area is atrocious at lunchtime. The Mediterranean veggie sandwich, chipotle chicken panini, SW chicken flatbread, & the tomato with mozzarella panini are my favs. And the clam chowder, tomato soup, and mushroom with truffle soup are excellent. Just wish I could get a whole sandwich, cup of soup, & a regular drink (tea/soda) for less than $10 (less than a restaurant). The pick-2 option where you can get 1/2 sandwich, and cup of soup or small salad is only $8 but not very filling if you get a veggie sandwich. They also have an array of breakfast foods that I haven't tried but look delicious. The one I've had & love is the sun-dried tomato & feta souffle. read more

Went there last night for supper and immediately noticed the lack of customers. I ordered the Mac and cheese and my wife had a sandwich. Right after we got our drinks I noticed her sandwich was at the pickup station. About 25 minutes later my order appeared and my name called. Don't know why they gave us a pager. The food was good and that was justification for the one star. While we were there we experienced a teenage version of Romper room. The staff in the preparation area spent more time playing insult games with each other then preparing my order. The boys at the register were engulfed in a friendly wrestling match. I could not believe the behavior of these employees while customers were present. I suggest that management provide supervision for these older children during dinner hours. If I wanted to watch this type of entertainment I would stay at home and watch our teenage grandchildren fight over the tv. Won't be going back for awhile. read more

The mac & cheese is delicious but I would reconsider on the salads from now on. My usual order is a whole Greek salad and a mac&cheese, last night I changed it up and got a Caesar salad with extra dressing. I should have saved my money and went home! The WORST food poisoning I've ever experienced. I work in the food industry and know the importance of temperatures, cleanliness, and how big a deal cross contamination is. Ordered chicken and wild rice soup through the drive thru told me they had the soup only to sit through the drive thru to learn they don't serve that soup on Friday's. This has been the first Panera I've experienced like this, every time I've been they have either double charged me, messed up my order or left something out. Busy for lunch, but once we decided what to order, we were waited on. We had the pick 2 for $6.99, which you could pick 1/2 sandwich, a salad or a cup of soup. Great price. I had the French onion soup, which was fab & the Greek salad which also came with French bread. I added a carrot cake cup cake for .99 cents. The proportion size was large. We were in town for a funeral, and decided to make the best of it by checking out local attractions afterward. We decided we were hungry, so we stopped in so I could use a gift card I got for Christmas. The food was good, but the menu board is misleading on their "Pick 2" options. Everything is actually a la carte. The whole staff, from the lady who took our order to the manager who visited our table, were extremely hospitable and gracious. We stayed until just before closing and never felt pressured by the staff. Once we realized the time, we made a quick exit. Thank you for helping to brighten our day. When the orders came out 5 plates and was told I could take as many trips to get my plate to our table. Well in Texas they bring it to your table. Ordered large mac and cheese, a small mac and cheese, and 3 you pick two tomato and mozzarellas. 2 were with garden soup and 1 with French onion soup. The 1 with French onion soup was done with flat bread. The 2 with garden soup were done with the regular bread. The sandwiches done with regular bread were cold with very little mozzarella. When I took them back to the cook area they first acted like it how dare I bring my food back. The guy manager Tried to act like they went to flatbread because they couldn't get the panini makers warm enough to melt. Well we are from Texas and never have I had a problem getting a melted panini. There was a guy with curly hair in two different shades that had an attitude and commented "have a wonderful day" in a very sarcastic not giving a true care to my day. Then when I got the second round one was burned on the bottom and had to get that one done. My mother in law went back to get that one redone and Mr. Pony tail was rude again. The only complaint I have is about their sweet tea, it went from being amazingly good to tasting consistently borderline rotten over the past few months. I ordered the pick 2, cup of cream chicken/wild rice and 1/2 sandwich turkey bacon bravo on tomato basil bread. The soup was good. I ordered the sandwich with no lettuce or tomato. It arrived with a huge piece of lettuce and two large slices of tomato, the meat was tough, bacon was cold... Pick two for $12.98 Definitely not worth the money, and a total waste of my time.
