Panera is my go-to for a healthy lunch. I love that there are so many different options. All their salads, soups, and sandwiches are delicious. I just think it is so over-priced for how much you get. The service is good most of the time. Sometimes my Rapid Pick Up order has no utensils even though I choose to have them included, and there have been times where I have gotten really small salads or such a small amount of dressing to put on the salads, which is annoying because they are expensive. The atmosphere in Panera is always calm and the perfect area to have a meeting or study. I love that they have free WiFi and outlets to plug in electronics. I'll probably never stop going to Panera even though sometimes I feel like I'm paying out the wazoo for a small amount of food.

I've been using the rapid pickup at this location at Caste Village for a couple years. It has always been a good experience, and the parking at the curb for rapid pickup is exceedingly convenient. The last time in I earned a reward for a pastry. I got a bear claw which went great with coffee the next morning.

Like this location as much as any. Rapid pickup available for take out orders which I love. Always check your order though because I've had issues with order errors but not really anymore than other similar establishments. Like this location especially because there is outdoor seating. Located in Caste Village Shops. Terrible cellphone signal inside but there is WiFi. It's never very busy here when I've been in which makes me worry that it won't last but maybe I'm just conveniently coming at off times! Faves for breakfast are the oatmeal and soufflés. Lunch I love the veggie sandwich and the greek salad. Also love the super fruit smoothie! It's the perfect blend of fruit and yogurt for me, not too sweet.

I love Panera! My favorite thing about this location was the staff. The woman who waited on us was very friendly and ensured that we were satisfied with all of our choices. The cashier also made sure to tell us about all the choices we had, and what charges were going to be extra. When I choose the pastry, I picked a particular one that I saw in the case, and she made sure she had the exact one I wanted. I like when the staff take time to make the customer happy. For lunch choices, I had the broccoli cheddar soup and a baguette. My fiancé has the soup, sprouted grain roll, Italian sandwich, and the pastry for dessert. Everything was delicious.

Old spinach - NOT edible. This is not wilted spinach from heat this is old slimy spinach.

Came here this morning for a quick smoothie and breakfast sandwich. $6 sandwich keep in mind... it had the most repulsive old wilted spinach on it I had to take every single piece off completely, so gross. It's not worth the money worth sandwich I've ever had. Smoothie was good but that's about it.

A great addition to Caste Village! This Panera just opened and already has a big crowd. It's nice and clean with fast service that you'd expect from a Panera! It does seem a bit small compared to other Panera's but it's still a nice addition to this shopping center.

I stepped inside and it was a cute little quaint place. Not big but a few tables, cute decorations and multiple kiosks. You dont place your order traditionally which was different only because if I had questions then id have to wait for someone to come to the front. Not a big deal to me but elderly people might have issues. I ordered 2 smoothies, a chicken, black bean and cheese quesadilla, and a fruit cup. Ready for the total? $33..... insane. The prices are very steep. If you go in for just a smoothie thats a little more acceptable but to pay $5 for a couple strawberries, half a banana, and half an apple is crazy. The smoothies are also not even that great. I got my son the strawberry banana one and it was so bland. I got the sunrise sunset one and it was somewhat flavorful. I did ask my son if he liked the quesadilla. He said it was good so I have to take his word on it. I dont eat gluten so I didnt try it. I will say after waiting about 30 minutes for our stuff, the guy who worked there was very nice and brought it out to us. Im not sure if thats their policy or it was just kindness but I did appreciate it. All in all its a 4/10 for me. Too expensive for too bland of flavor.

The young lady at the register said that "they don't make those anymore"? I ended up just getting the "make your own burger" and made it EXACTLY the same way as the hello bistro burger meal. So idk why that was an issue. It took over 30 minutes for a burger w/ fries and a salad. Fries were cold and were not fresh. Burger looked like it was thrown against the wall and then wrapped up. Salad was nothing special. I wasn't a huge fan of it. I ate half the burger and acouple bites of the salad and just threw it away. I paid $30 for trash!!! Will not be returning.

I'd rather drive out of state than have to cross a bridge and tunnel to get somewhere so I only stopped twice when at a nearby meeting. Decades back, my best friend lived right up the street. This was practically an extension of their own house. They were there often. Often is an understatement. I'd get off from work and knew where I could find friends. Here. I'd often stop and pick up something on my way home to the South Side Slopes. I recognize that its been a long, long time since I lived in the Southern Side of the city. I haven't been here regularly in years. I still enjoy stoping by. The last few times, the service was - I hate to say this- not good. I really do hate to say that. The reason people loved this place was because Louie, Toni, & their staff were friendly and made it an experience. Long gone are staff that made anyone in Pgh feel welcome. The last 2 stops in, I felt like an inconvenience. My orders weren't correct each time. One was a to go order. I specifically asked for things to be done a certain way because I was ordering for my husband & kids. I chalked it up to the time of day & blamed myself. I did not look it over since I was trying to beat traffic... this is a classic place. It has to be me. Not them. I had an hour break and decided to stop in. Again, staff ignored me when I ordered. It took up that entire time to get served. It was awkward. My meal was lackluster, at best. My mind wants to believe in this place and that their stuffed bananas, zucchini and chicken sandwiches will never change- but I think they have. At this point, I don't see myself going anytime soon intentionally. If a friend were to ask us to join them, I would.

Probably one of the quirkiest places in South Pittsburgh - fronted by a thrift and curiosity shop - it's rather easy to miss given the off-the-beaten path location. Anyhow, we had an excellent experience. The brunch had several options - we opted for the seitan "pot roast" and the mushroom pasta. Both were great - ample portions and flavorful. The salad buffet was great, offering a bunch of options, all of which were pretty tasty. I didn't try the dessert section, but it was also pretty large. Overall, possibly the fairest deal on a meal you can get in the greater Pittsburgh region, while still keeping things healthy. Tables are arranged where it's communal, so you end up meeting other folks in a close environment. The walls are adorned with all kinds of artwork, there's no shortage of things to look at. Lastly, I saw some people on a certain social media platform had some critiques of the menu development method - it's all a bad opinion, this is a legacy business in our city and deserves even more of the positive attention they currently get.....support this place!

The layout is wonderfully chaotic; half of it is a restaurant and the other half is a packed antique shop and vintage clothing store. You're literally sitting at a mismatched table surrounded by creepy old dolls, retro lamps, and racks of 1970s jackets while you wait for your food, which is just the coolest vibe. The service matches the aesthetic...it's laid-back, totally unpretentious, and run by folks who just let you do your thing. But let's talk about the food, because it's some of the best vegetarian and vegan comfort food you will ever eat, hands down. I always crave their Seitan Reuben (and I'm not even vegan), which is so perfectly savory and messy, and if you go for their famous Sunday brunch, you have to load up on the sesame peanut noodle salad and grab a slice of whatever vegan cake they have out that day. It's affordable, incredibly quirky, and I'll keep coming back forever.

The Loose Moose is located on Brownsville Road, right over the boarder into Whitehall from Pleasant Hills. There is plenty of signage identifying the building from the road. Additionally, there is a large private parking lot that surrounds the establishment. This visit to the Moose was on a Monday evening in July. Mondays are one of their Wing Nights, where whole wings are $1.25 each. We primarily came for this special, but also ordered some other items to enjoy with the wings. The restaurant was not too crowded at the time we arrived, which was right before 8 PM. As stated, this is a restaurant and bar. So, when you walk in, the bar is straight ahead and the restaurant part is to the right. There are several booths and tables in the restaurant part. Tables can be pushed together to allow for a larger group to dine. Most of the booths seat 4 to 6 people. It is open seating, meaning you can choose your table. The atmosphere here is very much a hometown bar vibe. There are TVs, pool tables, dart boards, and lots of life coming from the patrons and regulars. There are a few bubble gum/candy machines in the lobby. In the breezeway, there is even a cigarette vending machine. After choosing our booth, we placed our order. Being that we come here rather frequently, we ordered some favorites at this visit. To start, we chose a Combo Platter for an appetizer. This is a platter with 4 different appetizers from a specific list. We got the Zucchini, Pickles, Onion Rings, and Hot Cheese Balls. The Zucchini here is thicker, and all of the fried items have a thicker batter/breading. We liked all the items, and thought the size of the platter was very good for the price! It was enough to share with a few people. In addition to my wings, I also ordered a salad. I had the plan of eating some, and then taking the rest home for a lunch the next day. The salads here are a hidden gem, in my opinion. My personal favorite is the Chef Salad, which is what I ordered this night. It is piled HIGH with turkey, ham, pepperoni, and cheese, along with lettuce and other veggies of course. It is delicious and very satisfying since there is so much meat and protein! I would highly recommend this item for anyone coming here. Our wings came out last, about 35 minutes after we sat down. They fry all of the wings to order, so they will take longer than one might expect. However, because of this they always come to the table hot and fresh. There are several different sauce options to choose from. On this trip, I got the Loose Moose Sweet, which is similar to a Sweet Thai Chili-type sauce. My fiancé ordered Garlic Parmesan with Mild Sauce on the side. I am never disappointed with the wings, and this day was no exception. The value at The Loose Moose is hard to beat. Along with the daily specials, their regular menu is very reasonably priced. Especially considering how much food is served for the prices. The salad I always order is less than $7, and is enough to split into two meals for me. All of the appetizers are under $8, with most being under $6. It is nice to be able to visit somewhere without spending a fortune for a good meal. Plus, there are Happy Hour drink specials during those times. Service here is friendly and good. The waitresses and staff are always kind, and do get to know their customers that frequent the place. My only complaint is more-so about the management regarding this. On busy nights, such as Wing Night, the place will be packed and there will be 2 servers for the entire dining room. You can go 15+ minutes without speaking to your server. This can get frustrating. However, the actual servers themselves are not the issue there. This would definitely be an area for improvement. We enjoy coming to The Loose Moose. My parents come here weekly, and I have been many times since they first introduced me. The specials and prices are hard to beat. It is close to me, and food is good, and the people and staff are friendly. It gives hometown bar vibes, which can be comforting and enjoyable for a lot of people. I would recommend giving this place a try, but be patient if you come during a busy time!
