NEVER AGAIN. My first time ever stepping foot into Panera and most definitely my last. Came with two girlfriends on a Wednesday afternoon for some girl talk and studying so we planned on being here for awhile. I ordered the BBQ chicken flatbread which came with the option of one or two (for a few dollars more); I opted for two flatbreads. I asked for no cheese or spinach, which my receipt read correctly. I also ordered an iced caramel latte + cookie. Here's when everything went wrong: - My friends who ordered at the same time as me received their food about 15 minutes before me - When my food came out the first time, it had cheese and spinach - When I showed my receipt which clearly read "no mozzarella, no gouda, no spinach", the lady took it back and I waited patiently - I kept hearing "cafe latte" on the intercom numerous times but never my caramel latte, so I went to check on it - The woman working at the register started making my drink right away but she was RUDE AS F^%K. Her: Do you want whipped cream? Me: Before you add anything to it, can I just make sure that you're making an iced caramel latte? Her: If you want blended then you need to get in the back of the line and pay for blended. Me: No, I don't want it blended, just iced please. Her: I ASKED IF YOU WANTED WHIPPED CREAM OR NOT. Me: Just a little bit, thanks.. - Walked back to my table with my iced caramel latte super upset - My food came out for the second time except it didn't have anything in it...just the most pathetic amount of chicken and nothing else?? So I went back AGAIN, and this is how the manager spoke to me: Me: Sorry, but my order was made wrong again. Manager: Just because you said you didn't want cheese doesn't mean we'll give you extra chicken. Me: I don't want extra of anything - but you made my order wrong again. Manager: If you want extra chicken you have to pay for it. We only give one ounce, it's always one ounce. Me: I said I didn't want cheese or spinach, but where's my onions? Where's my cilantro? Manager: *takes plate of food away from me* We'll remake it for you. - I walked back to my table sooooo upset and lost my appetite completely. Luckily my friend was there to witness that crap so I knew I wasn't overreacting. I didn't know if he was going to spit in my food or worse, but I was in the worst mood at this point. - I ended up eating my food because it cost $16 but I didn't even get to take my first bite until about 45 minutes after my friends had already finished their food. I had their super fruit smoothie with greek yogurt and it was delicious. It is very hard to believe that it is 120 calories. I would imagine it would be a lot more. It wasn't gross/sweet/artificial tasting the way the smoothies are at fast food places. It is made with a mixture of fruit and berry purees and juice concentrates blended with plain Greek, non-fat yogurt and ice. There's free wifi that lasts a few hours. This place is great for lunch but I came here to study. It gets super busy and noisy so it isn't ideal if you are trying to get a quiet study spot. It is appropriate for meeting up with others to discuss things because there are plenty of tables and space. You can order online and pick-up in person. The parking lot is huge but is always so crowded. read more

Sadly this store does not have the fast ordering kiosk that many others have. So when me and my friend stopped with a long line ahead of us, it was disappointing kiosk were not an option. We waited in a long line for two drinks and there was only one person working the register. The other girls were helping pack food, and there were a few more waling around the empty seating area talking. SMH If there is a long line, jump on in to help if you can. Make sure to get your customers helped and on their way. We waited in line fore over 20 min and then waited even longer for our drinks. I think they should really look into getting the kiosk for people who just want to order and grab to leave. read more

Our cashier was super friendly, but the cashier on the next register didn't seem as nice. I really enjoy their soups; the French onion is my long-time favorite. My husband likes their sandwiches. They also have some good salads. They offer bagel and cream cheese packs that are good for morning meetings at the office. In addition, they have boxes of coffee. The kind of place you go to if you just need something easy and quick while in this shopping center, and don't have high expectations. Today we went at 11am and they didn't have any breakfast items (they literally said - we have none of the breakfast items in today). I also heard them say they had only one cream cheese choice in for the bagels. Also only drip coffee, no one working on the espresso machine. A very very limited choice left! I've been to many Panera, but this is probably the worst one. I ordered a large a Mac and cheese, which arrived completely cold. It was as if they took it out of the fridge and microwaved it for 30 seconds. When I told the staff about it, they were completely unapologetic. Last time I went to this Panera, I spent $33 bucks over the course of a few hours. I have tried most items at Panera. I am an expert. Below is an extensive review to help you before your visit. Everything is frozen and then re-heated with the exception of the hot baguettes. Sorry to tell you the truth. The pastries and bagels are all frozen when they reach the Panera. Then the employees re-heat everything and present it as fresh. This is disappointing to know, but the food remains A-OK. Pastries: Carrot cake cupcake: yuck! The cheese frosting in the middle of the cupcake ruins what is otherwise an amazing cupcake with yummy frosting on the top. Pecan braid: amazing! The cinnamon is amazing, and even if you don't like pecans, I would get this pastry because you don't even taste it. Chocolate croissant: Best pastry ever. I order two of these every visit. Double fudge brownie: pretty good Flower cookie: one of my all-time favorites! The frosting is sugary sweet so beware. Cinnamon coffee cake: another solid choice Chocolate chip cookies and muffies: Very good. Peanut butter dream cookie: Good Muffins: All the muffins, with the exception of the apple crunch muffin, are worth ordering because of the Khloe Kardashian muffin tops. The muffin tops come with a crunchy sweetness. All I want to eat, it seems, is the muffin tops. Scones: All the scones, with the exception of the orange scones, are worth ordering. The new cinnamon crunch scone is particularly good. Specialty pastries and rolls: The bear claw doesn't taste good at all. Never order it. The cinnamon rolls taste terrible. The cobblestone bread is awful. Never order the cinnamon rolls even though they look great. Never! They taste awful. I don't know why. Cinnaholic is worth heading to in Berkeley if you want a good cinnamon roll. Smoothies: The best smoothie to order is the wild berry smoothie. The others are acceptable. Breakfast items: Steel cut oatmeal is inconsistently heated. Half of it is cold, the other half is hot. Don't order it! Parfait is okay. You can probably make it better at home. Breads: I have never ordered any of the various breads at Panera because they likely suck. They are frozen for days at a time in the freezer and then re-heated for presentation each day. Plus, no one evers orders the bread. It obviously can't be good bro. Thankfully they donate all leftovers at the end of the day to charity. Bagels: Everyone knows that the two best choices are the cinnamon crunch and asiago cheese bagels. Don't get bagels after 6PM though because they taste stale. All the bagels taste good in the morning hours. Breakfast sandwiches: Mediterranean egg white sandwich doesn't taste very good. You're better off with the egg and cheese. Salads: Thai chopped chicken salad is the best salad. It is amazing! It's really spicy, and the chicken tastes good. The strawberry poppyseed is also amazing in the summer months. The Fuji apple joint is MEH. The chicken caesar salad is bad. Don't get it. It tastes like the lettuce came from Missouri as opposed to Salinas. The Easy Asian sesame chicken salad is okay. Sandwiches: Chicken salad is MEH, as is the roast beef due to the use of smoked cheddar. Panera is better off using regular cheddar with the roast beef. Sheesh. Big kid grilled cheese has bacon in it. WTF man. You need to make that clear on the menu for all my vegetarian brothers. Nonetheless, the grilled cheese isn't that good. Nothing to see here folks. The two turkey sandwiches are worth getting. I liked them from what I remember when I ate turkey. I highly recommend the Mediterranean veggie sandwich. It is very savory and crunchy. Coffee: All the coffee is good. Order them jauntz. Panini: The tomato mozzarella panini is what I first order when I enter any Panera establishment because it is the best thing on the ENTIRE MENU. I don't ever choose the U Pick 2 because they give you the worst halves of the panini. Thus, you gotta get the full sandwich. None of that half and half BS. Get the full panini. That way you don't get jipped out of tomatoes. My friend always gets half of the panini with a salad or soup, but then they skimp on his tomatoes. Frontega chicken panini is very good because it has the smokey BBQ taste. Pastas and soup: None of these items are worth getting. All the pastas come in plastic bags. That's nasty. I have never ordered a soup other than the brocoli cheddar because they're all too salty anyways. Plus, I want to emphasize that they are frozen and then re-heated. Atmosphere: The atmosphere inside every Panera is quaint. They give you free internet and free water. Plus you can linger here for hours. It is an acceptable restaurant to ask your girl to be your Facebook-official girlfriend. Panera Rewards: If you stay at Panera for hours at a time, wait at least two hours between using your Panera Rewards card in order to maximize your card benefits. The rewards program often rewards me because I visit frequently. read more

I'm obsessed with Panera's Egg Souffles, particularly the Spinach and Bacon one. Similar to an individual quiche, the egg souffles are extremely savory and have a fantastic croissant-like crust. With that said, they often sell out on weekends--FAST! So, per their own recommendation, I tried to call this location the other weekend to ensure they had the "goods" before I drove over there. Unfortunately for me, they chose not to pick up their phone after repeated calls. After 40 minutes of trying to get them on the phone, I drove to the store--thinking that they must be busy if they couldn't answer the phone. To my surprise, the store seemed pretty darn empty with employees leisurely chatting with each other at the counter. I personally heard the phone ringing while I was there and none of them went to answer it--NO WONDER! When I inquired about Spinach Bacon Egg Souffle, the staff member at the counter told me that they were out and tried to get me to settle on the two remaining 4 Cheeses Souffle they had---he even went as far as to say that the Spinach Bacon wasn't healthy for me. SERIOUSLY?! Like the 4 Cheeses was any better for us?! Needless to say, I turned around and left. HORRIBLE customer service at this location. Panera is good but the best part of this place is the speed. No matter how busy it is you're food will be ready within 5 minutes (I don't think it's ever been more than 3 though). My favorite here is the you pick two (pick two out of a half sandwich, half order of soup, or a half order of salad) with the smokehouse turkey (turkey, bacon, cheese, sun dried tomato on cheese bread) and either the broccoli cheddar soup or the tomato soup. The salads are also pretty good. They are great portions. Also the baked goods are are tasty. My favorite is the chocolate pastry (possibly the lamest name ever...) which is a pastry filed with rich chocolate pieces. This place can get super full. During peak lunch and dinner times it can be really difficult to find a place to sit. But I would not suggest getting the food to go because the flavor decreases exponentially for every minute your food is in a to go bag. So if you're in a hurry and you can find a seat then this is a pretty good option. read more

NEVER EVER EVER EVER ORDER THE HALF SALAD. You could literally make it yourself rather than wasting $6.75 for a meal that is probably worth .10 cents to make it yourself. First, I am a fan of Panera. I appreciate the consistency in the experience and like the food. This location fell way way short of what I have come to expect from the Panera brand. First, the layout is weird. You don't walk in the front door, you have to walk in the side door. Second, no self service kiosks. I like those. I can dial in my order as I like and I don't have to talk to anyone. Feels like I have more control over what I am getting Third, this location gets the one star rating because of the critters. As I was eating my dinner there were little flying things flying around. But it took the cake when two cock roaches tried to join me on the table while I was eating. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it. Could not finish my dinner, had to bale. Could not get rid of the feeling like they were crawling up my legs. Today was probably the worst experience I've had with Panera. I usually order large quantity for the school's staff because teachers are pretty busy and can't make it out to lunch most of the time. I ordered 6 different meals at 10:18AM and I specifically told them that I would come back at 10:45AM to pick up my order. 10:45AM comes around and my order is still not ready. I told the manager this was the 2nd time this has happened to me and all she could say was sorry. The first time I ordered a dozen bagels and asked the girl to slice them. 20 min later she said she forgot about my order. First time around I let it go, but this is the 2nd time and I order here quite often. I finally received my order at 11AM and the manager said here you go. I told her that this is the 2nd time this has happened to me and she said sorry, things happen and we get busy. Not sure what type of excuse that is. So I pick up my order and leave and at this point I'm already mad that I didn't have my order in time. I come back to school, which is about 10 min away from Panera and distribute the order and find that I'm missing 2 soups and I have an extra 1/2 sandwich that no one order. I call back and told the manager what happened, she didn't even bother to ask if I wanted to come back and pick those up. She said that she would put me on a VIP list and I would get a free meal next time and then hung up. She didn't give me a chance to say anything and how am I suppose to redeem it next time I come in? Good coffee, free internet, good bagels and sandwiches.... what can beat that?! Today was our first F-Day, I mean furlough day and to be honest I didn't know what to do with myself. So I thought why not catch up on school work and catch up with friends? And so I did. I headed out to Panera a little before lunch time (wanted to make sure I grabbed a seat) I was not sure what I wanted to eat so I opted for a bagel and coffee. Although my bagel was not the best the coffee was wonderful. I found a table that was big enough because I need to get some serious business done. Sat down... turned on my laptop, spread out my papers and got to work and about two minutes later my bagel was ready. I poured my coffee and ate my bagel, which they toasted there for me... I later on was met by a friend and I ended up having lunch/dinner. I had the 1/2 salad, 1/2 sandwich.... I'm not sure if they were just being generous or if they usually serve large portions... but my salad seemed like a full size. The sandwich was pretty good. Both very fresh. All around it was a very pleasant experience. The location has plenty of seating, plenty of outlets (for you laptops) and the people that work there are very very friendly. I think this place has turned into my favorite place to go get homework done. I would recommend this place for those times when you want something fresh and healthy. read more

I don't know what has changed staff or management. I have been going to this location for the past three years now and it was great for awhile. NOW, even when I order my food online "rapid pick-up" our orders have ALL been WRONG. When we go into the store to order "to go" our order comes out wrong. It's like the only way the order is correct is when we dine in, we don't have the luxury of always dining in because our work schedule is so hectic. I really liked this place and I hate to go elsewhere but I don't want to spend money and just get food I never ordered. I hope it all gets better soon. read more

This Panera Bread in particular has good service. After making a large catering order and arriving at the restaurant early, the cashier offered me free coffee while I was waiting! Nice! I quickly looked through my order when my food was ready and drove back to work for an event.... only to find a chunk of the items missing! The fruit platter, utensils and napkins. Such a bummer and inconvenience. Luckily, after I called them (took a couple tries.. busy morning, I guess) they quickly solved the problem and drove over with the food left behind. They have good healthy food choices though i think $9 for a croissant with a small piece of salmon is a bit excessive. they're not expensive per se, just the amount of food in some dishes don't justify the cost. My main complaint is that they say they offer free wifi but in reality they kick you off after 30 minutes. I went there to work during lunch so I can eat and continue working; after 30 minutes I lost connection - not cool at all! they say it's to allow others to get on the network... please... way more people are sharing starbucks connection than Panera's and there's no problem with sharing. Conclusion; i might still go there for lunch here and there, but you lost me as a weekday lunch time customer because 30 minutes connection just doesn't cut it for me. Not a great experience. Haven't been here in years because last time it wasn't good either. Ordered 3 kids plates and one for myself. Kids grill cheese was not good, burnt to bread, bread was hard and cheese wouldn't keep sandwich together. When taken back they said it was because they ran out of olive oil and white bread. We waited 30 minutes for our food and all they offered was a refund, my kids were very hungry and what I was going to let the rest eat and one wait another 30 minutes. With meals we got apples they asked if we wanted them cut but failed to cut our cores. I questioned it and got handed a butter knife to do on my own. My sandwich was hard and tasteless with the cheese burnt to the top. Also after all this they had ordered one to many kids meals, I was to exhausted with this to ask for money back and just left. A little on the expensive side (who pays $7 for a panini??), but it's so good that I suppose it's worth it. I love the decor of this place! It has very dim lighting with colorful walls, so it gives this really peaceful, soothing vibe. I wish I had discovered this place back when I was still in school because it'd be a pretty awesome place to have a light lunch and study. The food was prepared very quickly, and we were given a pager that vibrated when it was ready. I wish they would give a number or call out your name when your smoothie is ready to be picked up, because when mine was ready, before I could go up there to get it, some other lady took it and walked out. This place has never been a disappointment to me at all. I've been here a few times and each time, I've ordered something different. The atmosphere here is great. Very quiet and relaxing. You could pretty much eat and study here if you wanted to. The seats are made so that it's half restaurant and half library like. By that, I mean the walls are up high, so a person can have their privacy like it's their own little cubicle. They also have free wi-fi! Let's move onto the food! I haven't tried their entire menu, but I have enough to say that I recommend this place. Especially for lunch. They have sandwiches, pasta, soup. The internet here sucks. The tea is bad too. I'm trying to watch a movie and eat here, but the internet is too slow. I ran a quick test on speedtest[dot]net and the result was about 1mb per second. ONE megabyte per second. Seriously, when I was a little kid the dial-up in our house was faster than that. This is 2013, dammit. If you're going to advertise free-wifi, it better not stink as badly as the trash-ridden canals of Venice. The corner with the two chairs smells like vomit as well. And if you look under the tables and chairs, you can see a collection of food and other miscellaneous items which tells me that this place isn't cleaned very well. Now Im not someone who usually goes and types up reviews solely dedicated to complaining about food establishments, but this is an exception. The internet here is so horrible that it would make people from the 90s cringe. I don't care about how the food tastes, I don't care if the soups are fresh, but if you're going to advertise free wi-fi, you better not make it as shitty as the one at this establishment. Having an internet speed of 1 mb per second in this day and age is purely unacceptable, and I believe that I speak for everyone who has been baited in by this bullshit advertising. I'm not going to lie, I actually kind of like Panera. Aside from the slightly snobbish atmosphere, its a pretty good place to get lunch or go relax or whatever. Selection for pastries is awful in the afternoon and the men's bathroom is perennially filthy, especially around the urinal which also stinks, a sure sign they don't clean it properly. Other than that, the food is fine, if you're lucky enough to get what you want, and the dining area is nice. read more

My mom goes here all the time to pick up sliced bread for the house. I just recently went here and enjoyed a bagel with cream cheese. Got a small table and read my book. This is such a nice addition to the newer San Jose. Growing up near here, this was the GE plant and it was all closed off. If you can find some parking, Panera Bread is one of the healthier choices at the plant plaza. I have been here a few times but recently, I went on a hot day and the place had no AC. It was stuffy! Our food came on time, and was delicious. I ordered the summer salad with potato chips and my daughter ordered Mac & Cheese. We went around 1pm. Place was pretty packed but we managed to find a nice two seater booth. Staff was very friendly. The guy at the register offered me extra avocado since I opted out of the chicken with my salad. read more
