I'm not sure what's wrong with this Panera but this is my second time being wildly disappointed with their service and the food they put out. I realize a simple avocado toast isn't always exciting and honestly, I wasn't expecting much given my experiences here in the past - but I was starving and this was the closest "real" food to me. The bread was this weird mix of stale and soggy with impossibly tough crust (I'm guessing due to the stale?) and the avocado, while green, had that unique taste of an avocado that's a solid day past its prime. My guess is they mash them up and treat them with lemon or lime juice to keep them green. This definitely wasn't fresh avocado. Sadly. Not related to the food - the toast came in the box shown here but also a giant bag with several forks and knives and napkins. Like they felt a family of four was going to eat this? It didn't make any sense. And finally, just like my other visits the folks working there truly seem like they could not care any less if you paid them to. So many Panera locations are amazing, super friendly staff, amazingly clean and really fresh food - I'm not sure why this location can't keep up. read more

I have given a 5 star rating based on service and food. Of course it's Panera, simple seating, have to go pick up your own food, bus your table, sometimes noisy dining room but we all know that going in. Our counter gal, Chloe, was very nice, answered questions, and reminded us we had earned a treat based on prior purchases. The food was very good, I love great tasting bread, soup, and salad, along with the other baked goodies. I had the Fuji Apple chicken salad (1/2). The lettuce was fresh, green, crisp. It had a-good serving of chicken, dressing, and toppings like walnuts, feta, dried apple slices. It also comes with a side, I chose a small loaf of their bread. It comes warm and with some butter to spread. So good. My wife had potato soup bread bowl. It was a bit small perhaps but good soup and the bread is worth the price of admission. $15 for cold mush that was supposed to be a sandwich. I waited 10 minutes for a sandwich, even though there were at least three employees back there chatting away over the food. (Chat all you want, just cook at the same time.) No other orders came out in the meantime, so obviously they weren't very busy. I took my sandwich as soon as it was set on the counter. It was supposed to have been toasted. The cheese was (mostly) melted, but the bread did not appear to have been toasted, and the meat inside was cold, maybe under cooked. It also wasn't very full. It did not taste good. I probably shouldn't have eaten it, but I had a long drive ahead and couldn't afford to stop to get something else after buying this. Got through half, threw the rest out. Had a stomach ache for the rest of the day. On top of that, the dining room was filthy - crumbs, plates, and napkins strewn everywhere. The food was very good. The customer service was awful first time we visited a Panerai told us to use a kiosk started having issues was totally ignored when trying to get help finally figured it out. Went to get cups this grey haired worker(didnt see her name)yells at us you get your own cups and hands them to us told her sorry we've never been here before. Went through the drive thru just for drinks while out shopping. We came here just because someone gave me a gift card; it's not a place I typically visit. My friend wanted sweet tea and when I asked if they had that, they responded no but could make it for her using black tea which I thought was really nice. Things certainly have changed here. We stopped by on 9/26 about 6pm. A female employee was helping a customer, so we stood behind her and waited. When she finished with that customer, she turned and walked away, into the back room. A guy came out and stood at the register, pressing a few keys, but not acknowledging us. We asked him if he could help us with a few pastries. He said "No" and then "I'm not a cashier". Then he went into the back room room. So we stood there and finally left. I'll never trust Conan O'Brien again! He and Sona went on and on about Panera sandwiches when they were doing ads on their podcast. We kinda love that dude and wanted to believe it wasn't just because they paid him to say how he loves that place yum yum. So for the first time we decided to order from this place, and it helped that they did delivery. Sandwiches arrived quickly. Since they cost about $13 each and the whole rather small order cost us $50, we'd expected something way better than Jimmy John's, and certainly weren't expecting worse than McDonald's or Burger King. The sandwiches were smaller than you'd get from any fast-food joint for under $4, and not half as good. Dang you, Conan! When the disappointment of wildly overpriced bad little sandwiches fades we MIGHT try them once more for the bread bowl dishes which sound like fun, but if those stink too, I'm gonna really wonder how this place even exists. read more

I'm going to be gentle since this is a franchised food chain. My wife and I love Panera bread and eat at multiple locations for Panera often. The positives: -The staff is super friendly and engaged. Solid group of folks. -Relatively quick service at the drive thru. The negatives: -I've had wrong orders at this location far too many times. Once? Okay, people make mistakes. Twice? Annoying, but again we're all human. But three plus times it's kind of a habit. I once ordered my son (a very picky eater) a kids Turkey and cheese. We got some sort of chicken panini instead. Things like this happen far too frequently. -THE PORTIONS. Now this one is hit or miss and I assume is a direct reflection on who is working at the time. I'll order a "whole" salad (usually my go-to) and it'll be a half salad or less. I'm talking about me paying $50+ for a family of four to not only get wrong orders, but only partial portions. The portion issue is a little more consistent than the wrong order issue. All-in-all it's a fast food chain. Granted you're essentially paying restaurant prices or more for convenience, but at the end of the day it is a fast food chain. The Silverdale location isn't the best location if you're a Panera fan. Ignoring customers is not a good way to keep them. We have noticed the quality of food along and certain products have been missing entirely due to shipping shortage but we still like Panera. However, on a recent visit we noticed a lack of customer service. In fact, we noticed a total lack of recognition. My spouse and I needed time to make our food selection. When we made our decision, we moved forward, stepping up to the counter. Now, we had been in the building about 5 minutes, and no less than 3 employees had been close enough to not only see us, but to say something, anything, to a pair of customers. We received no "hello". No, "We'll be right with you". Nothing. One employee was stocking pastries, another ringing up her lunch at the register. The third was delivering food to another guest. They were busy, so we gave them time. But at some point, there was nothing left to do but take our order. Except that the two employees behind the counter both turned away, still not saying one word to us, and found something else to busy themselves. I'm giving Panera Bread a 3-star rating. I was debating on whether to give a lower score because I think their food is extremely bland and boring. I have never had anything at Panera Bread that I could say that I have truly enjoyed. The primary reason is because they do not season their food at all as far as I can tell. However, the deal is, I do very much appreciate the concept and philosophy in which the owners and management have built this business. They deserve big kudos and to be celebrated for their focus on pure nutrition. When I learned that they where the first restaurant to publicly post the nutritional value of their food, prior to any of the other food chains doing so, I was impressed. Learning about how they handle ingredients so they are providing fresh and clean food to their customers was truly eye-opening, and a huge plus plus for this Corporation. All that said, I still don't like the food because it's flavorless to me. However, I do eat a fair amount of Panera Bread meals because my colleagues usually order Panera salads and sandwiches for big functions that we have where we need food brought in. For those of you who prefer bland food, and I get it that there are many people in this world that do, Panera Bread is healthy and nutritious and good for you. Oh, and, I have always found the customer care and service to be very good at the restaurant. I've been on a soup and salad binge with Panera this past month. I always place my order online and it's ready in less than 5 mins. That's what I love about ordering from here. My go to is the pick 2 soup and salad with a slice of bread and butter with the hibiscus drink and I have a perfect lunch or dinner. With all this rain in the PNW soup is awesome. This Panera location is really great. It's extremely clean, the service is great, and our food never takes very long to come out. I do consider this a fast food establishment... And if I have to choose to eat fast food because I'm on the go, this is usually my first choice. I love that they have tons and TONS of healthy options. Came to this location for my online order in November worse food ever. Besides the fact that I asked for NO horseradish sauce because I am allergic and they put it on my supposed steak sandwich. Came in tonight decided to eat in restaurant with credit and paid difference for the rest of the meal. Figured we'd play it safe and eat meal here. WRONG! Food came to table. Daughter's soup and grilled cheese was ice cold didn't recall her ordering Gazpacho! We asked for a redo so then they brought back the grilled cheese sandwich but never came back with her soup. My soup in bread bowl was lukewarm and pizza was cold which tells me our order was sitting for awhile. Probably because staff is too busy horsing around laughing and dancing with one another instead of paying attention to their customers needs and manager on staff doesn't really seem to mind this type of behavior. My daughter chose to not have me ask for her soup preferred to go home and have a cup of ramen. I asked for a container for my cold pizza to take home to reheat and this is what I was given and when I asked for two because the entire pizza would not fit properly into the container they stated only one per customer. I will never waste another dime in this restaurant. I have been to Panera Bread locations from coast to coast and never have I had this type of experience. Don't come here, save your money. My wife loves the kind of food Panera Bread serves but we both liked Paradise Bakery in the old days. Panera Bread has skimpier servings in general, and the Silverdale restaurant is no exception. My salad and soup were both excellent but the helpings were unreasonably small. The cook said soup was "two cups" and the manager said that was company policy and not hers. The other problem we encountered had to do with the cashier ... she was hard to understand in the first place, and with the mask on she was nearly impossible. Employees should be assigned to positions that involve lots of customer communication that speak clearly and are easy to understand. read more
