Soups, salads and pastries! Oh my! I am a big fan of Panera. It is generally a great spot for a fast lunch or dinner or just to grab a coffee and bagel. They have wi-fi but during busy "rush" hours you can only be only thirty minutes. My kids love the kids meals (mac and cheese in particular), although I do with they came with a drink. I am not sure what is up with this particular Panera, but they are ALWAYS out of items. Last night they were out of baguettes, bread bowls and many pastries. The previous time they were out of certain toppings for their Thai Peanut salad (wontons and Thai peanuts). This location also has some outside seating which is a true perk on a nice summer day! Not sure why but lemonade at this location also tastes very water downed! Would I come back? Yes....but it really bothers me they are always out of so many items. read more

Came in for breakfast and it wasn't that busy here. I ordered from the kiosk and just got a egg and cheese sandwich. They called me up for my order and got it wrong (added bacon and had the wrong bread). So say back down and got called up again, went back to my seat and took a bite and realized they had added bacon again when I asked them not too and it shows on the receipt. Staff is mostly high school kids but they are always pleasant and fun! They briefly take my mind off the fact that I am about to spend $2 on a toffee cookie or $10 on a Strawberry Poppyseed Salad. Which by the way, is simply fantastic! It's only available in the Summer so make sure you order it at least once. The Panera Bread card is only good for discounts when you initially open an account, after a while, the free food options tend to stop coming. But if you don't have a card, get one! Panera Bread is responsible for at least 5 of the lbs I that I need to lose right now. This location is also great for holding meetings. Nice round table that customers seem to leave open for groups. read more

This location needs help. It's always dirty. The bathrooms are a mess. The bread is stale and they skimp on the meat. If I want Panera I now opt to drive 20 mins to the Ashburn location. I get the same great service I've come to know from Panera in Ashburn. Plus a lot of degenerate South Riding parents use this location as a babysitting service. read more

Let me start by saying that I love Panera, but this one is HORRIBLE. Multiple times I have ordered and gotten the wrong food. Today I ordered delivery because I was sick. I ordered a soup and salad, but received a salad and Mac and cheese. I was very disappointed. I tried calling 8 times over an hour and a half time but no one answered. After my kids were in bed, my husband went in and said that there were a bunch of employees standing around doing nothing. Tables were dirty and the phone was ringing. So I came to the store and tons of people was waiting so I had to wait 30 minutes to get my sandwich for breakfast. I know that people lately may be complaining about the cleanliness and service at our local Panera, but please be patient! The remodeling is almost complete and, as a customer, I am thrilled at their commitment to always improving the restaurant and making our experience overall better all the time! Jim and his staff are always friendly, kind and take the time to show they care. The food is always hot and delicious. If for any reason you aren't happy, they do not hesitate to make it right! So big thank you to Jim, Rita, Andy, Chris, Keenan, just to name a few! In just a couple short weeks the transformation of this Panera is absolutely amazing. It looks beautiful. I commend their commitment to stay open so they can serve the community while the renovations were taking place. It is too bad some folks couldn't be a little more understanding and patient. We ordered take out online. My husband pulled up for the order and even though my husband gestured for the guy to go to the passenger window (to physically distance himself) the guy still went to his drivers window and as my husband was rolling down the window this guy shoved our bag of food into his window, didn't even say anything to us, and just walked away. My husband checked the order accuracy and it was wrong so he went and asked them to fix it. They replaced the food and he drove home. As we were getting the food out we realized the order was still wrong even after them fixing it! We could not believe this especially after asking them to fix it. The portions were tiny, the bread was rock hard, and the taste was so bad on the grilled cheese that i wouldn't even let our dogs eat it. Will never come to this location again. read more

I've been here several times as it's a mile from my home, unfortunately, they skimp out on toppings. They barely add meat to their sandwiches, so you end up eating a loaf of bread. Rapid pickup is extremely convenient, definitely use that option for carry out orders. read more

Tonight I tried to call the Panera Bread location at 25042 Riding Plaza Dr South Riding, VA 20152 Phone number(703) 542-2408. I was considering giving some family members living near there a sizable gift card for that location, ordered from Amazon. But Amazon says "Accepted at participating locations". So, at 9:51 PM, which I knew was 9 minutes before closing, per *that* location's website, I called and chose option "Speak to a manager or team member". I only needed 10 seconds of their time to ask "Do you accept Panera Bread gift certificates". Hmmm... 17 rings then cut off with no response. Called again... 14 rings, cut off, no response. Called again... 13 rings, cut off, no response. Called again... 15 rings, cut off, no response. Now 10:02 PM so I gave up, FOREVER ON THIS LOCATION. Gee... did someone wanting to avoid a last minute order repeatedly pick up and hang up? Most such businesses are craving business nowadays. Now I understand this location's poor reviews regarding poor service (and that of others...). Early on during the pandemic, when Panera was advertising one could buy bread and gallon jugs of milk at their drive-throughs -- a GREAT offer considering minimum order, several day waits for curbside, etc. elsewhere at that point!!! -- I called this location twice to ask if they were participating in that. First time: "Yes", but I needed to order online. Hmmm...found no way to do that. (Problem with all locations?) Second time: "Uhhh... Let me ask... (was put on hold...) "Yes, I think so", order it online. I still couldn't find a way to order milk online. Did I bother to drive there? Dear location Owner or Manager: Because no one would answer the phone, and your past poor customer service, you just lost 3 or more visits by a family of four. You deserve to lose that business. It won't put you out of business, but your poor ratings eventually may. My least possible one star rating is better than the service you delivered. PS: Surprise!! Once AGAIN, despite the checklist on the rapid pickup bag, they left out a full sandwich, and added chicken to another sandwich when it was requested NOT to have chicken. Which means for every pickup I not only have to check through the whole bag, but also have to take apart the sandwiches to make sure they're done properly. And of course, when you pick up in a rush, you don't have time to go back, point it out to management, and then wait for another to be made. Money lost, money wasted. read more

I want so bad to provide a positive 4-5 star review but they don't deserve it. I have been going to this Panera location since the day that they opened 15+ years ago. Definitely not the same...and not in a good way. My issues are quality, accuracy, consistency, product availability and... attitude. You never know what you are going to get when you go there. It has been sometime since I have gotten an order that was correct. There is always something missing or just plain wrong. Sometimes the sandwiches look like they were assembled by someone wearing a blindfold. The contents are never ever consistent... sometimes a sandwich will have so much dressing that you could scrape it off and make 2 more sandwiches. Other times you wonder if they forgot to put the dressing on. The soup is thick... no... today its thin like water. 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning bagels are gone... for heaven's sake you're know for bagels what do you mean you're sold out of plain bagels 2 hours after opening? Salads with brown lettuce. I understand though. Post-pandemic, it's rough getting back up to speed. Staffing is a problem. Global supply chain is wreaking havoc with everything. I get it and hope that things improve for Panera soon. It's a pretty expensive price for customers to pay to show grace under these circumstances. read more

I love Panera - I love the bagels, soups, sandwiches and salads. Their specialty coffees are usually delicious. I have never had a bad experience with staff at this location or others and usually receive friendly quick service. Likewise I have not had any issues with my order being filled incorrectly. I work from home and options for a quick lunch out in South Riding are not plentiful. Panera fits the bill. However, my experience has been consistent with other reviewers in that the food sometimes does not seem to live up to the quality of other locations. The food is not consistently good and consistency is key. There have been times my sandwich has been quite frugal when it comes to filling - more bread than anything else. I've also been served a somewhat soggy Panini which just seems to contradict what a Panini should be. To be fair, I have experienced these issues when I have taken my food to go, but I am not traveling so far I would expect a lukewarm, soggy sandwich when I arrive. I will more than likely go back, although I won't be in a rush to do so. I just wish they provided the consistent quality of sandwiches I have come to expect from this chain in other locations. read more

Not only did they completely forget about my order and made me wait 30 mins to get it(after I had to remind them that I hadn't received it), but when I got it it was so very wrong (I requested no bacon nor onions on my salad) and the staff was so unapologetic. After a hiatus of about 3 months, I again entered this establishment, and I.. again.. wish I hadn't. To start things off, the cashier, ("Katie" I believe was her name), was a total a-hole. I said hi/asked how her day was going twice, and she blatantly and purposely ignored me both times by staring at me completely stone faced, so I just got on with my order. As always, I clearly asked for egg whites and cheese on a plain bagel. Also asked for a sesame bagel to go. Seeing as I repeated my order 3+ times cause she just wasn't competent enough to handle it the first few times, I assumed she had it down pat by the last time. Guess not, cause I received egg and cheese on a sesame bagel. Walked up to the manager and didn't even bother to mention that the sandwich was wrong, but just said that Katie must have forgotten to ring me up for a sesame bagel. He apologized and gave it to me free of charge, (Appreciated.... very much.) While this happened, I noticed Katie glaring at me from her register. As I was about to leave, one of the girls who had assembled the sandwich further down the counter came running up to me asking if I had accidentally taken someone else's order. I told her that my name was on the receipt attached to the bag, but that the order I had requested at the register wasn't what I had received, although it was similar. "Oh" was the response I got from her before she turned and walked away. No offer to fix it. Reallllllllllly wish this place would step it up. This panera has its ups and downs. With as much as I frequent this one its about 50/50 on whether I will have good service or not. Half the time my turkey cranberry sandwich barely had any meat and as for last night only had 3 pieces of spinach (yah.. I took it apart) which left me eating mostly bread. Then I got the pick 2 combo... my soup was missing the garlic biscuit... it was kind of sad and disappointing. The high-shool kids make-up most of this places workforce and it seems to me like they have some high turnover since I never see the same person twice it feels like. I love panera, but this one is terrible. I got dinner there, just a small ravioli. It cost me 9 dollars and there were maybe 6 ravioli in my box. This is not my first terrible experience at this panera, I went there for lunch the other day and when the sandwich was given to me it was falling apart. Never again for lunch and dinner. Its Panera! My friends and I jokingly refer to Panera as the most average place on Earth, but I tend to lean towards below average more often than not. But hey, Ive had this gift card sitting in my wallet since Xmas so might as well use it up! Credit where credit is due, the interior design of Panera is always so comfortable. Theyve got it down to a science, with all the walls and other line-of-sight interrupters, the place always seems cozy. The thing that bothers me the most about Panera is the small portion sizes. 5 or so bucks for half a sandwich I could get somewhere local, full size, for the same price. The fact that their food is so often not good just compounds my frustration with the high price. I ordered the steak & white cheese sandwich. It was alright, but youd think theyd list horseradish on the menu, because when you slap horseradish on something, know what its gonna taste like? Horseradish. What steak, what cheese? Luckily i dont mind horseradish but some poor sucker not into pungent flavors certainly has gotten screwed over by that option. "Steak & cheese" should imply just that, but whatever. The mac & cheese was a little sour. I didnt mind it. Its mac & cheese. I got an apple on the side (people who order the baguette along with their sandwiches boggle my mind. Would you like some bread with your bread, sir?). It was an apple. I got a chocolate chip cookie just to even out the gift card. It was "gluten concious" which i believe was the reason it didnt taste that good. Hey im concious of gluten too, concious it makes flour-based food taste good!!! The standout for me was their iced coffee, actually. I believe I got a cafe latte and it was by & far away the tastiest thing I had there. 2 stars may be generous. Time and time again they forget an item or give lackluster food when ordering for delivery. I recently dined in hoping for a quick, easy mac n cheese, but was informed they were out of Mac n cheese. They were also out of French baguettes somehow which I found both hilarious and pathetic. I settled for a grilled cheese which was half good, half soggy, while my girlfriend got some unmemorable avocado bacon sandwich which completely fell apart and had undercooked bacon. Dining room also had messy, disorganized tables that were left to the customers to clean while an employee or two sat down eating. As a former employee in the food industry I understand a short break but seriously make an effort to at least wipe down tables first. This place never fails to disappoint I don't anticipate going there anytime soon. read more

I'm a big fan of Panera and often take advantage of their free Wi-Fi. Their food is usually pretty good, though there are times when their salads are not so good. This doesn't happen often, but sometimes their lettuce isn't very fresh. I definitely recommend their "you pick two" deal, since an entire salad or sandwich can be a bit much. This lets you have a little more variety. There's something about this particular location that I really like. It's kind of off the beaten path, so it's usually not too crowded, which is nice. read more

Oh Panera. How I love thee. I can count on you when I'm at home or in a strange city to offer me some sort of comfort. Bagels, sandwiches or salads. Whether its just for me or a business lunch I can depend on Panera to deliver decent food. Panera bagels are my absolute favorite! If Western Bagel was on the East coast, I wouldn't even walk into Panera for my bagels. However, since I'm denied Western Bagels, Panera is my go-to. One of my favorite traditions is to sneak out of the house on Saturday or Sunday mornings at 7am and get the fiance his hazelnut coffee and pack of bagels for the week. I come back looking like a superstar delivering the goods of the gods...all courtesy of Panera. The line here around 9-10 am on the weekends are INSANE. It snakes out the door, but it really does move quickly so don't let that discourage you. Parking is easy, but again I must vent about the stupid planning of the parking lots in Ashburn.... One exit out of the lot you can't go north and have to exit south, then wait at a light to do a U-Turn. The other exit you can only exit west...but if you need to go east, you have to do a u-turn --but there is a sign forbidding you to do so! If you keep going straight you go miles before you hit Gum Spring. ARGGGH!!!! Regardless of the lack of common sense planning on the city, I will continue to visit Panera. Their bagels are awesome, and with fall right around the corner, I am looking forward to some of the menu changes! read more
