Ok so here we are six months or so since my last review and happy to report things now seem to be somewhat better. The place is clean and coffee is always hot and readily available. Although, I do not eat the food here what I do see looks decent. Maybe they can turn their numbers around if they stay on track. I do hang out here a couple days a week and take advantage of their speedy WiFi in the early morning hours. Give them a visit for yourself, you may just like what you find. read more

You enter your order into a machine. Food takes forever to come out. Air conditioner is blowing full force and it's 60 degrees out. Mentioned this to the girl at the counter and was told that "it's hot in the back". I guess those of us eating in the store don't matter? My order came up after 20 minutes and when I checked my bag, there were no forks and spoons in the bag. Walked up to the window where the food is served and asked for the items. "Did you check the bag?" she asked. "Yes", I replied. "But there was a second bag, did you check inside that one?" To which I replied again, "Yes, no cutlery". I mean, it's plastic cutlery. Even if I was trying to steal two extra spoons and forks, did I really have to be questioned??? Just let me eat my food! Needless to say, we will not be coming back. read more

Got to be one of my top Cafes of all -- and I am a business traveler, so I have been to many Panera Bread cafes. I was there, again, today... and yet again they made my sandwich perfect!! Wall, NJ and Brick, NJ are my two favs. But this shout'out is for Wall. This cafe is ALWAYS clean. The staff is ALWAYS friendly. We all have our preferences, but I see the reviews of people complaining about sandwich sizes. Lol. Panera is NOT BURGER KING. It's not a type of place where you stuff yourself into a food coma (sleepy). You don't need no huge sandwich all the time. ...and yes, Panera is expensive. Mainly because it is A1 quality food!! Do ya really want 2 monster burgers for five bucks?? Then "Have it your way... YOU RULE"" lol. Panera is not that type of stuff. Panera bread has been here only a few months and to me they have ironed out some of the kinks that occur in newly-opened food establishments. The employees are now settled in their duties, The manager now seems to have it more in-line. The place in general looks clean, with the exception of the men's room. This location was formally a parking lot and Panera bought it last year. The north section is for a drive-ups and on the east side is an al fresco area with 4-5 tables. Inside are tables, high tops, and counter seats, to accommodate the different types of diners. I ordered a small barbecue chicken mac & cheese $5.99. A French baguette was included. The coffee was fresh. There were four different types of coffee and the noted time when it was made. Cool. When your order is ready, you'll get that electrical shock from the alarm they loan you. Overall the place look pretty clean. 3 and 1/2 stars. read more

Today is March 3 2023. We walked in. No one was there at counter to help us. A lady walked into the place and said she couldn't help us cause she just got there. She went to get someone. After 10 minutes no one came out so I walked into kitchen and saw 2 people. I asked for help. I said I had been waiting for someone to take my order. She walks out. She was like a mean bulldog that I was confronted with. The look on her face was a death look. I asked her to at least try and smile. The death look continued so I walked out. She would have poisoned my food I'm sure. This location was in Spring Lake Nj in the ACME shopping center. Management needs to get their act together!! Don't ever go here. There is always an issue when I go there and I have tried to be understanding but it's frustrating when there is always something wrong. It's not Panera as a whole, I've been to so many branches, it's this branch. The only reason I even go is that there aren't any other close and it's one of the few things that my whole family can agree on. There is always something missing or something wrong. They once gave me a sandwich that was the exact opposite of what I had asked so I had a nearly empty sandwich with the one thing I couldn't have. That meant I was stuck with something I couldn't eat as it was too far for me to go back to have it fixed. Another time they gave me an unfrosted and grossly dry sugar cookie. The prices are too high for this stuff to be the case. It was...fine when you were eating in and could go to them when they royally messed up your order. However, if you can't eat there, I don't recommend it because they have been unhelpful when I have needed something. Not saying this is necessary but other locations have always gone above and beyond if there was an issue or offer a free cup of coffee or cookie. This one always made it seem like the fact that they messed up and you want it fixed is such an inconvenience if they forget something. read more

Apparently PANERA does not care about custmer experience---I wrote to them the following an never got a response: I have been going to Panera for several years, but this last visit has completely soured me on continuing to eat at your restaurants. I ordered the duo of soup and sandwhich and could not tell you which was worse. The soup which was suppposed to be corn chowder that tasted nothing like corn, more like a pea puree. The chicken salad sandwhich which looked huge only looked that way bevcause of the "greens" piled on. Once I removed them I was left which some bread with maybe a spoonful of chicken salad. There was such a small amount, it didn't even cover the bread. I would think with so many restaurants fighting to stay afloat that you would do your best to at least put out a half way deccent product. That was certainly not the case here. read more

SEPT 19..I ordered online at 7:20 pm....I understand staff is hard to come by and they will probably not be affected by this but I will not be back. I ordered and paid online so I thought they were open. I drove up to the window and the entire staff simply ignored me, not even explaining they were closed...even those standing next to the window. I finally tapped on the metal platform after 10 mins because I didn't understand the situation. My daughter and my 72 year old mom were in the car...They started at that point yelling we are closed and when I tried to find clarity on my paid order they walked away....I am a customer with a paid order. I was calm, I was professional. I was looking for how to get my money back. All fluff no stuff. One star added for pleasant staff. We paid $34 for two sandwiches and three drinks.  The sandwiches looked good but were all bread, tomato, and onions. The steak and cheese with double meat barely had any meat - literally.  The chicken salad had (literally) a level ice cream scoop of chicken salad spread across the whole sandwich.  The manager said they measure their portions.  Will never go to Panera again for a sandwich (a.k.a overpriced bread). read more

A woman behind the counter saw me walk in and then proceeded to the back before taking my order. After 5 minutes of waiting not one person to be seen to take my order I proceeded to the pick up section behind a corner to place my order. I was told to order up front. As John McEnroe once said, "You cannot be serious!" Came in Thanksgiving eve for a salad and literally every.single.item on the menu was not available. At first I thought it was a kiosk computer glitch but then realized, yep, only thing available were pastries, rolls and a few sandwiches. That's when I came to the other realization as to why there were only 5 customers in the restaurant. Hey, but it seems popular with the teens hanging out in the back as the soda fountains seem to be working! Unfortunately this was not an anomaly as last month they didn't have bread bowls for soup. Three times. Three trips through the drive thru and three "You have got to be kidding me?" experiences. Every time I have gone there has been no one ahead of me. No one or maybe one or two cars in the lot and I still cannot believe how freaking long it takes them to fill an order. Even something are easy as ordering a dozen bagels took ten minutes. How is that possible that it takes ten minutes to put plain uncut bagels in a bag? Very poor and negative attitude from the staff. They seemed bothered that you asked them for something. read more

Friday night after a long flight and you want something quick to eat but not startup fast food, Panera is a solid option. The price is very reasonable, had the choose two option. The Baja Mac & Cheese was really good. Very creamy and nice blend of tomatoes and avocado. The Modern Caprese Sandwich was good but could have had a bit more mozzarella cheese for a better proportion. Been to other Panera's, the Wall location is very clean and service is fast. You can order via iPad and it's fairly easy to add to your order. read more

What an incredible disappointment. I never write reviews but had to on this one. I ordered breakfast sandwiches online last night and scheduled a time to pick them up. I had a really tight time crunch ahead of an hour drive. I arrived for rapid pick up to find my sandwiches weren't ready at my scheduled time. Then I was told they didn't have the ingredients for two of my sandwiches. I then waited 15 minutes to get my order...and ended up late for my first meeting with a new client. On top of that, the people that worked here seemed more interested in cursing, messing around, and standing around instead of completing the order. Someone needs to regulate the staff there a little. I use Panera for our corporate meeting in all over the states. I love Panera food and Bread. Panera in Wall, NJ most of the time has no bread as a side. If you are ordering for delivery they can forget part of your order, utensils, and swap sides without asking. Just a horrendous customer service. If you like a lot of bread, this is the place. It's mostly what you'll get. We had bread bowl soups which were tasty but all bread and about a half ladle of soup. The chicken Caesar salad had thin slices of chicken that amounted to a half a breast. In summary, it sucked. $35 sucked. I'm not a fan of franchise restaurants anyway. read more

Tried again today 9/20/19 You have to wait FOREVER at the pick up window for just a coffee & muffin (which they screwed up almost every time) the managers have changed quickly but still can't figure it out. The young staff is clueless. GO TO TOMS RIVER Panera. Young staff know how to work and place runs soooo smoothly. You order within minutes you SIT and they bring out the correct order within minutes. Panera bread is becoming one of my favorite fast casual restaurants. The food is consistently good, and it's actually worth the price you pay. This location is no different. Food was very good. The crew even got my customizations right! I only have two nitpicks.. 1) The dining area could be cleaner. 2) Why is there a tip option for the kiosk order food if the staff doesn't bring you your food? I don't mind having to go and pick it up, but I'm not tipping anyone for that service. Overall a decent locations. WiFi is a big plus too. read more

I had never been to Panera before so I was expecting high quality for that price and the food was garbage. I don't even think the chicken was real. The food was so gross I feel sick to my stomach. I should have heeded other reviewers warnings before I ordered.. This was our first time doing online ordering and the first time at this Panera. We did the family feast with 4 cheesesteaks sandwiches. I made sure, using their special instruction/customize box, that the horseradish sauce and the pickled onions were ON THE SIDE and not on the sandwiches. Well it came on the side and also on the sandwiches. So frustrating. When I picked up the order, everything was wrapped nicely, taped up and neatly placed in the bag that was also taped up. I really didn't think I had to open up every sandwich right there at the counter to make sure the order was correct. I foolishly trusted them to get the order right. It wouldn't have been so bad if we actually liked the pickled onions and horseradish sauce on the steaks, but it was gross. We scraped off as much as possible, but still had to toss them. The remaining order was fine. One other thing- You people who hang out there and take up space to use their free WIFI. Just go home! read more

Pepsi isn't working and needed to be changed so they gave us a different drink. No spoons. Gave us 4 knifes instead? Not sure how that helps. This place literally sells soup and at 11 AM they have 0 spoons? Go to Walmart and buy a pack of spoons. Also, they forgot shit from our order and then when we went inside to tell them they proceeded to not understand and had to double check the receipt. Not to mention they were extremely rude and when we went inside to tell them what they forgot we were greeted with "you need something?". This whole experience 40 minute process for no reason. Would never return. Toms River and Shrewsberry location is SO much better DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. read more

I normally have less than acceptable experiences at Panera, so important to give credit for a good visit. Friendly, welcoming greeting by Sheila, followed by souffles ready and warm when we arrived at 7:30 am. Nine times out of ten when we go to a Panera, the souffles are never available and there is always a wait for them to be done cooking. Breakfast was good, hot, and the fireplace was on which was nice. Also, got a wave and have a good day on our way out. One suggestion would be to wipe down tables and seats before opening and frequently during the day as we have never gone to a Panera without having to do that ourselves and this morning was no exception. Tonight we ordered rapid pick up. Good thing I checked my order before we left. Our desserts were not in the bag, when I went to the counter an older woman helped me. We ordered a chocolate chip cookie they had no more so we had to choose something else. When we got home and looked at our sandwiches we were appalled see photos below. The weren't made correctly either. The Italian was to have arugula and it did not. The steak and cheese should have been on a ciabatta and it was on French baguette.
