The front of Panera in Westbrook!
    Steff D.

I think Kerrie D said it best: "I feel neutral about this Panera." For me that also includes this campus of chain stores, and this particular area of this particular town. It exists. I don't frequently think about it or have a reason to come here, because everything here exists elsewhere in areas of town that I'm already going to. That being said, of all the nearby Paneras, this is probably the best. Ample parking, easy to get navigate in and out of, plenty of room inside the restaurant itself, and cheap coffee in large portions. I seem to be having a lot of meetings here lately because it's a great location (as it's both close to the highway and close to residential areas of Greater Portland). However... 1. Because of the layout, the line here at lunch is *literally* out the - and crowded around the - door (and customers don't seem to be very friendly when you try to squeeze around them to leave). 2. The staff here is... not the friendliest. They try to move people in and out of the queue (regardless of how busy it is) as quickly as possible and it comes off pretty brusque. 3. The acoustics are annoying - it seems like you always have to talk louder than the table next to you to be able to hear the person across from you. I'm not actually sure why people choose here of all places to meet given that. Segue... 4. The tables and chairs are positioned way, way too close to each other. Everyone is on top of each other and that definitely lends to the loudness (and to nasty glances from people as you try to squeeze in and out of your own chair). Paneras are Paneras, though... where else you gonna get that Cobblestone Muffin?!

Call me crazy. But the breakfast souffle is REALLY good!

I have a neutral feeling about Panera Bread. I have had some really good meals here and definitely feel that their quality is higher than other fast food stops. On the other hand, I am sometimes, baffled by how unexpectedly expensive they can be. I recently, got a sandwich, soup and beverage for lunch which ran me $19!!! It was a good lunch, but honestly, for that kind of money there are other places in town with much stronger local quality! There is one thing though, that I consistently love about Panera Bread, and that is their breakfast souffle. These personal sized souffles are only available until 10:30 in the morning and are so popular, that they go quickly. Sometimes, it's only luck and timing that will score you one! They come in a few different combinations, all are great. Think of a warm and flaky croissant baked with different quiche fillings. I'm not typically near a Panera on a work morning, but if you are on the road looking for a quick takeout on your way to work in the morning, definitely worth the trip!

They gave me a very good salad. I enjoyed it albeit they messed up part of my order. It was a solid experience regardless.

Like most other Panera Bread stores was consistent with what you expect. Broccoli and cheese soup was hit and rich.

She's was very accommodating with my deconstructed requests for both Sandwiches. An A+ employee. My Market sandwich (eggplant) was just okay. The bread was for a better word "stale" I could hardly bite into it. The same was true of the turkey ceasar hoagie. However the turkey was very good. I'm going to have to think hard if I ever want to try another hoagie from Ramona's. I know the owners are both respected chefs in their own right but I'm having a tough time justifying whether I will return.

Urg. I was excited to try this place but the egg sandwich I got (the Ramona with broccoli rabe,…read morebacon, American cheese) fell short. The roll was ever so slightly stale and the broccoli rabe had chili in it (so even though I asked for chili on the side it's still in the vegetable part). I also have a total pet peeve about American cheese. In this instance, it just made the sandwich have a gluey internal texture. I often find it is gourmet places trying to be trendy that use American cheese as though they are able to rebrand it. Sharp American or not, the cheese would have been way better in my opinion had it been cheddar or Swiss or really anything. To be fair, the bacon was well-cooked and the eggs were nicely scrambled. Although the sandwich idea is original (broccoli rabe on a breakfast sandwich), I found the flavors just didn't come together. For what it's worth, service was friendly and efficient. Moreover, like a few other places on the East End, I find this place is just sort of too curated, overly self-conscious, and trying too hard to be trendy. I would take a straightforward breakfast sandwich over one that comes with a side of merch and a Brooklyn-hipster-like environment any day.

Thinner crust, decent structure, more structured than a NY, less structured than a Sicilian or a good grandma style. It's a little lighter than a Sicilian or grandma in terms of crust. "Heaviness" is pretty subjective depending on the toppings. The pizza - Soppresatta was packed with flavor, salty, spicy, little sweet from a touch of honey and a very fresh, slightly punchy sauce - keeps some acidity and tastes lively. The crust was delicious, from what I read, this is a sourdough crust. Definitely had some good character and flavor to it.. I got this heated before eating it. The vegan special - obviously I'm not vegan, but that pizza looked phenomenal. Had to try it. This one did not get heated up as it was suggested to leave it cold (logical considering it basically has a salad on top). I don't know what the vegan cheese was but it tasted like a whipped ricotta/goat cheese would. The fresh tomato, pickled peppers and red onion all played perfectly together. I'd certainly go back here. A little on the pricey side but I think it rang in around $18 on these 2 slices (yes, pictured is considered a slice of each) I was plenty satisfied.
