Panera falls between fast food and sit down service -- which is exactly what we needed during a long road trip. The food is priced well and tastes delicious. The menu is plentiful in filling and healthy options., yet ample in nifty and sweet tooth pleasing opportunities. There are two seating areas inside plies outdoor seating. The staff is courteous (though not really friendly or informative). The bathrooms are (barely) wheelchair accessible and close to (but not quite) clean (but not dirty either). No complaints. All good. Recommend. About five minutes off the interstate. read more

Today was my first visit to Panera. Oh my goodness... the cult following is with good reason. LOL The service was great. The food was fresh and tasted wonderful. This particular Panera was nice and clean. There was lots of light and smiles all around. I ordered the vegetable soup and Fuiji Apple Salad. First of all, the portions are HUGE. Honestly, I crushed that food. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Figured all the raves were a bunch a hype, but that isn't the case. Even the teas were good. After a very long and hard shift in the ER, a fellow nurse and I went for dinner. What a great dinner we had! I ordered the choice of 2. It came with a healthy sized bowl of butternut squash soup and the ancient grain arugala salad. Absolutely delish! Just what the doctor ordered. The exterior was clean as was the interior. Staff was pleasant and helpful and the food...so good. It was not busy (7:30 ish) so we did not wait long. We are in Wilson today and having lunch at Panera Bread. The ham sandwich and cheddar broccoli soup are delicious. We ordered the two half portions which makes for a filling meal. I definitely recommend to everyone. Lots of items on the menu to choose from. Update.,,the potato soup had an artificial taste today. First time being a little disappointed at Panera Bread. We ordered an in-store pick-up of the creamy chicken and wild rice BOWLS. the soup was warm and the CUPS were only half-full, they weren't even enough to really wet the bread. If they are going to sell a cup of soup, say so (and then price accordingly. Don't advertise and charge for a bowl and then deliver less than 8 oz. Panera is always the best stop on a road trip, and this one is conveniently 10 minutes off of I-95. I accidentally gave a worker named Austin the runaround when I asked if they had a dairy free menu, but he was very accommodating and helpful. Happy to have found a Panera not too far from I-95. Stopped here for lunch on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The man who took our order was very friendly! He also helped carry our order to our table once it was ready. I always appreciate above/beyond service. Someone else came out and cleared our table for us (manager maybe?). I've never had bad service here. I've had it delivered, ordered at drive thru, iPad and from a person. Each have their pros and cons. As this is a new restaurant for the Wilson area we were excited to try it, unfortunately being very familiar with the chain in other locations which we have lived our expectations were apparently too high. Probably the biggest complaint is like many places in Wilson is poor customer service. When you walk up to a bank of cash registers with young women just standing there looking off in space one would expect to be welcomed and asked if you could be helped - nope. So you have to basically pick one of the registers and hopefully the young lady is not more interested in talking to her friend next to her at the other register or not chewing gum. The food is typical Panera Beard, no pros or cons to that and they do seem to have a reasonable wait time, so something must be right. They also need to have a person who works the bakery as their sole responsibility because the cashiers really don't know what they are looking for in the bakery case so that prolongs the poor customer service experience that much more. I am not really sure why restaurant and retail establishments' management lack the ability to teach customer service but they truly do not understand the concept. It is not about teaching younger people to fake sappy Southern charm but rather be polite and efficient, it is amazing how a person's perception of a place can be affected by a pleasant smile and a Good Afternoon may I help you? read more

Panera Bread is nice mostly everywhere. Panera donates overstock breads to the local food bank, which is good. There was a time in Wilson when no morning bagels could be found, well "low-and-behold" (wth does that mean anyway?) Wilson has at least 3-4 bagel locations now- awesome! Panera has friendly service but ordering may take extra patience if you're looking for attention. It does get busy at usual times so Panera recently installed order kiosks which is okay but i hope they don't eventually replace the working staff as corporate chains that can afford the tech probably will. read more
