The Cracker Barrel was convenient to where I was staying in Wilson so I stopped for dinner. My waiter David was fantastic and I have no complaints with the service. The host was friendly as well. If I had ordered something different the meal may have been better. I did enjoy the sides. The fries were nice steak fries and the apples were good too. The steak tips were a cut up steak so not what I was expecting as steak tips are normally tender and prepared differently. I would have been ok with the cut up steak but after two bites it was just too chewy for me. The whole meal was $9.99 so it was a good deal for the entree and two sides. I wouldn't order the steak tips again.

Thank you! Mecca my server you were amazing. The staff is extremely diverse and polite. What they didn't know is I am an active duty service member relocating to my new base taking 95 north. I had a taste for some crispy pancakes today so 20 minutes ago I stopped at the Smithfield location. I was disrespected and treated EXTREMELY poorly at that location and left. While still north bound on 95 I saw this location and decided to give the franchise another try. Walking in the diversity of the staff stood out. I was seat at a much better table and my waitress wasted no time bringing me a drink k and taking my order. She had no idea how I was treated at the same franchise right down the road. She was genuinely kind and had hospitality. Thank you so much for hanging my perception of the business and treated a customer how they deserve to be treated. Much better location with amazing staff. The ambiance when you walk it just felt different. The energy was much better.

Interesting. That's what I have to say. We needed a place to go for dinner on the way home on our road trip to Fl. It wouldn't have been my first choice but when you're on the road...first order of business, I tried to sign up for rewards both in the app and just by scanning the QR code. It took forever to get a code sent to this email. I even had the waitress get the manager to help me. Eventually, it worked. But you can't use the reward right away - you have to go back a 2nd time within 30 days to use it (so that probably will discount me!). I ended up only with a side salad since most of the foods were fried and I didn't want that. My husband got a steak and fried shrimp and my son got chicken tenders. The one thing I did like was the the country store - you did feel like you were in a country store! MY son bought a bunch of candy to bring for the ride home - the prices were reasonable which was a nice surprise. It wouldn't be my first choice because I really don't like this kind of food.

The food and service is much improved over their decline a while back! Keeping the decor and sign helped a lot, plus new management!

Whole Truth Lunchroom has a great mission, and the food definitely lived up to the experience…read more Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The fried chicken was crispy and fried hard just the way I like it, with plenty of flavor in every bite. The greens were seasoned perfectly, and the yams were sweet with a great texture--not too hard and not too soft. I visited on a hot summer day, and the restaurant can get pretty loud and a little stuffy when it's busy. Thankfully, they had fans placed throughout the space, which made it much more comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. If you're looking for good soul food and want to support a place with a meaningful mission, Whole Truth Lunchroom is worth a visit. I'd definitely go back.

A ministry of the church next door, Wilson's Whole Truth Lunchroom is a hidden gem. Located a few…read moreblocks from downtown and run by dedicated volunteers, this is an old school cafeteria with the type of food you'd expect from Southern church ladies. Dishes vary from day to day but the fried chicken, baked chicken, and fried pork chops are staples. Plates come with two sides and you can see from the photo why the blackeyed peas are so good (spoiler alert - it's bacon, lots of bacon). Collards are also delicious and the yams are mildly sweet without being cloying. The banana pudding is gloriously warm and the meringue is fluffy. The pudding is a touch too sweet and I could have done with more bananas but it was large enough to share. The staff is genuinely happy to see you and are happy to talk about their work, if you like. The room is a bit bare bones and the bathrooms are rudimentary and cramped but everything works. There is parking directly in front of the restaurant. Thanksgiving take-out is available for pre-order (see photo). I have a strong feeling you won't go wrong with any of the choices.

Every time we visit our family in North Carolina, we have to stop here to have breakfast. I always get a bacon egg and cheese. They also have so many different combinations you can come up with for your biscuit. I also started following them on an Instagram they just made and they also have French toast and pancakes. That's on our list next time. This place is so awesome. It's only a drive-through and the service is so quick. It's a small little Mom pop shop that you could get quality biscuits.

These are not your typical light and fluffy buttermilk biscuits. No, these biscuits are thick and dense, but in the BEST way. And they are HUGE!!! I ate off of my bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit all day long - literally. It took me that long to eat the entire thing. I don't know how people go here and order more than one item with a biscuit. I was STUFFED! This place is a true gem and a definite must try! While it may not look nice and fancy on the outside, don't let that fool you! The staff are some of the nicest, sweetest, hospitable people you'll ever meet! And you know a place is good when the line is literally down the street! Seriously! It moved so fast though! I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Wilson! FYI - this place is cash only! No cards accepted.

Super friendly service and a warm inviting atmosphere with table linens and seating that is nicely spaced to afford you more intimacy than most places. We shared a couple of the starters: Philly egg rolls and the spinach dip with fresh made pita chips. Both were excellent. We also had the chicken wrap, shrimp wrap, Cobb salad, and the chicken salad. All of the entrees were great. My favorite had to be the fresh cut and fried potato slices- whatever you order, don't miss those! It's a banquet hall and catering business but it does a very brisk brunch business and there were three groups there who were celebrating special occasions, so it can accommodate groups of various sizes pretty easily.

Our server was quite nice and was able to answer our menu questions. Our meal began with the soup of the day, Chicken Tortilla Soup. It was quite tasty, full of veggies that you would find in a pico de gallo nestled in a rich tomato broth, topped with crispy tortilla strips and served in a very small 8oz cup. What was missing was the chicken... I think I encountered one very small cube of chicken in one of those bites. My husband had the bowl size and echoed the same sentiment. For entre, I ordered the Blue Cheese and Apple Salad and made it a meal with the delicately fried oysters. The portions were great for a meal, but I expected more diversity in the salad greens. I received a mound of spinach that would make Popeye extremely happy. I would have loved some crispy romaine to vary the density of the spinach. However, the house dressing and candied walnuts added a great touch. My husband ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta which I sampled. I loved the sausage and the complexity of flavors for this dish. My son had the crab cakes which were also greatly portioned. He said that the cakes were very good, but for the premium prices he'd expected more crab and less filler. Nevertheless, he still cleaned his plate. Overall, we had a pleasant evening, but for what you pay for a meal, I expected a little bit more.
