His crew had to seamlessly tie the original turf into the new paver area while also dealing with an elevation change. The result was absolutely beautiful. Steve and his crew just finished an incredible new front yard landscape for us. This is the second time we used Steve, about 8 years ago he did our backyard and we're still thrilled with the work. Some companies will only do the minimum and then tell you it wasn't in the original contract and ask for more money for the small details you never discussed. Steve not only completed what was promised, he thought, for example, that our gutters needed to drain into the ground so as not to ruin the landscape, so he connected them to a central drain, correcting a problem before it occurred. Details like burying the drip line heads so they're not visible, are all thoughtful additions that he completed to produce a tasteful and beautiful landscape. I didn't even mention the pavers. Goes without saying that the installation was great, the finishing touches wonderful. We have a step up to the front door which a competitor told us could not be duplicated with pavers. Steve's crew completed it perfectly. The last point I will make is to thank his crew. These guys are the ones who made it happen and they are truly experienced artists. Hats off to your crew Steve. I will add that Panjia is not the cheapest, and really fall within the price range of the other top rated local paver/landscapers. These guys were nothing short of awesome while working on my family's home in Rancho Bernardo, and trust me, my mother drives a hard bargain! I helped a lot in the process of selecting who was the most qualified, prepared and ultimately the most affordable for what we were looking to do to get the RB pad up to date. We needed pavers, a fire pit, an outdoor kitchen, to level out a raised concrete area and to remove a bunch of old shrubs lining the fence. Gas would need to be run, sprinklers would need to be reinstalled and they would have to navigate around the existing pool. Steve was our dude! To say the results are incredible would be selling them short... it looks amazing, out of this world, fantastic, (insert positive adjective here:_____________)! They knocked it out of the park on our backyard and family BBQs have taken a turn for the better. I'm just dying to tackle that rotisserie! This review is based on my experience with Panjia's customer service during the estimate/design process. Steve showed up to meet with me and my husband on time and prepared with turf samples and lots of photos on his laptop. We wanted to expand our patio with pavers, replace a retaining wall, and install turf. He listened to our ideas and provided helpful input. He didn't try too hard to upsell us on the turf or the pavers, but he also didn't provide us many paver options. He did, however, dissuade us from going with the more affordable wall stone. Our experience with the consult was okay, not particularly bad, but not great. Our main issue with Steve and Panjia is their poor customer service after the consult. It took Steve 3 business days (5 including the weekend) to return an estimate, then he never responded to us when we asked him to adjust some of the items on the quote. I'm not sure if he didn't think we were serious (my husband and I are fairly young, maybe we don't look like we could afford the work?), but we felt totally brushed off. It's unfortunate, because his prices were not bad. We actually decided to go with another turf/paver company that has phenomenal customer service by comparison. It doesn't get any better when working with a contractor such as Panjia. This group of skilled craftsmen led by Steve Young were professional and artistic in their approach to our large front and back yard project. Not only did we have 2600 sq. ft. of pavers installed, but extensive drainage, gutters, rain barrel valves, electrical, gates, and a wall were installed as well. After viewing about a dozen paver jobs in our neighborhood and discussing the work with those neighbors, I narrowed my search down to 3 of the best paver contractors. After reading many reviews, I selected these 3 and requested meetings and quotes from them. Of all the proposals and interviews, not only was Panjia right in the ballpark as to price, but Steve's understanding of our requirements and offers of help in designing our area was impressive and far exceeded the others. The job took one week longer than planned mainly due to hard soil and rock in our yard that needed to be excavated for the new drainage. As the work progressed they installed a few extra drains that they noticed were needed in low areas not previously identified at no additional charge. Additionally, my wife and I added some changes to the order that were incorporated at a very fair cost. Pepe, the foreman was very experienced in all work areas and his crew were a pleasure to work with. I started off with a designer that wasn't able to complete the design as desired in a timely manner. I contacted Steve from Panjia with my concerns about my design and he immediately took over and made it better than how it was originally drawn out. What impressed me the most about Steve is that not only did he take over, but he did it so expeditiously and went above and beyond the call of duty without hesitation. He committed to helping me with my frustration despite the fact that I was on a time crunch. And with that being the case, he could have just made the changes I had asked for and be done with it; but he actually took the time to make other changes he thought would enhance the design and make it look much nicer. There were also pictures that he incorporated so that the contractor can look at what is being asked to build, making it easy to read and follow -- which is something that was not done on my initial design. I struggled for three years to find someone I trusted and could collaborate with on my somewhat large backyard project. I learned a lot and met a lot of people along the way. Some were designers that had little sense of what it would cost to build something and how it would function. Some had no interest in my design ideas and just wanted to build their vision. Others were too practical and wanted to talk me out of building a backyard bar and recommended just buying a big table from Costco. Steve and his team at Panjia were likely my last hope. Steve looked at my ideas and said he liked many of them, but had some ideas on how to improve them. I'm sure you're thinking he was up-selling me for more money, but actually many of the ideas were improvements that cost less. At the end of the day, the decisions were mine, but Steve and Panjia gave me the options with the pros and cons. This sounds like common sense, but you will find that the world of home projects doesn't always follow common sense. Egos and greed can often obstruct people's views and opinions. With Panjia, that was never an issue. Another benefit of working with Panjia was the ability to learn along the way and make changes - WITHOUT indecent change fees. This is also very novel among many of the folks I have worked with on past projects......any changes resulted in my financial pain. Also, many of my changes with Panjia resulted in cheaper options. Never was there any grumbling. Panjia just wanted to get it right and leave me with something I was excited about. I could go on and on about how enjoyable it was to work with them. Big projects are like a marriage. You are going to be interacting with your builder for quite a while, so it can be agonizing if you don't trust them. I separately (with a different company) had some audio equipment put in my backyard. The project was 2 weeks. They did nothing to build trust or comfort and just acted like I was lucky to have them. It was the longest 2 weeks of my life and I still regret some of the things that resulted from their work. This was never an issue with Panjia. I had trust from day one until the end. Sometimes their expectations for quality work were higher than mine. They re-did a couple of things at their choice and their cost to make them better. I likely never would have noticed, but appreciated their commitment to quality. My only regret was that it took me 3 years to find them. Steve Young and his team exceeded our expectations. They just completed the replacement of all of our grass (both and front yards) with artificial turf. They also installed a new concrete walkway from our back yard patio around the corner to our storage shed on the side of the house. Steve was wonderful during the planning stages and we implemented many of his suggestions. The team that implemented all of the turf and concrete were on time, courteous, hard working and wow did they cleanup every day...wonderful. As others before me have stated, Steve's way of joining the turf rolls is much more advanced when compared to the work of others I have seen. There is no seam visible. What was most impressive was the care the workers too to make the edges clean and neat. Steve's prices are not the lowest in town but they do represent a VERY GOOD VALUE. Once you see how much work (and materials) go into a quality turf installation, you will be amazed. This is a serious investment and you don't want it done by the lowest bidder. I tried that once and in 8 years I had to replace the cheap turf (installed cheaply). After seeing what Steve's team did, I'm convinced I made the right choice with Panjia Turf. Bottom line is Panjhia Turf performed excellent work, they were on time, they communicated with us every step and they delivered as promised. What more do you want from a turf company? Other than that, I agree with all the good things that have been said about Panjia so far. They are easy to work with, knowledgeable, courteous, fast, and professional. First off, we knew that this was going to be a semi large job and we needed someone who knew their pavers (since that was the majority of the job). We got estimates and consultations from the top 5-6 Angie's List pavers/landscaping specialists and decided to go with Panjia because of cost and their obvious extensive knowledge of pavers. Most other consultations you could tell the representative didn't know pavers the way Mike and Steve does as they actually worked on it (and Mike still does) themselves. That aside, Mike and Steve came to our home many times by now and they are always a pleasure to talk to both professionally and personally. The job was pretty much on schedule minus a couple hiccups as with all major contracting jobs but Steve and Mike showed me that Panjiya is truly a class act and stuck with their estimate equitably only asking me for more expenses when necessary. I really appreciate that part about Steve and Mike as they won't nickel and dime you like a lot of other contractors. Their crew with Pepe is unbelievable....we had the privilege of watching them work on some of the days we stayed home and saw them lay the pavers and cut the border trims.....that's not something you learn overnight, obviously years and years of experience. They were also very friendly and courteous to us and tried very hard to stay out of our way during their work while we were busy moving in......very kind to our kids too that were curious about their work. The main aspects were done perfectly, aka the pavers and the firepit. We did have some small issues that cropped up with irrigation, plants, lighting, and the fire pit flame output but Steve and Mike always made sure to take time out of their busy schedules to come back to us to take care of the issues. These guys are extremely busy ALL the time (for good reason too if you see their work) but they do make sure you are taken cared of and do what they say.
