If you pull in, you do end up backing onto a busy road so leave with caution. As I said, they have a great selection. There are four rooms of boons, each section is clearly labeled and occasional thematic decor. There are also occasional benches so you can sit and debate which books you want to "adopt". They're used, but gently and each has a price lower then the face value written inside. They also have the largest selection of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys I've ever seen. Its all very impressive.

But it was 3 o clock, and I was on a mission--to avoid super-turnpike traffic and to purchase a book. Well, I bought three. The County Bookshop is up a few brick steps on the right side of the street. Saw the name; had to go. Used and out-of-print books. I broke into a smile. An old home converted into this bookshop, it is a fitting dressed-down arrangement. Entering, there are rooms to the left and right. At the right rest philosophy books, and near the register first-edition copies of books. One I saw was a C.S.Lewis story. These books are not in the most beautiful condition, and many seem to have been gifts with cursive notes scrawled in the covers. But these little rooms are not all! Browsers can wander further to another room, and another after that. Each section is distinctly labeled. Signs even direct you to poetry and literature. There is everything from philosophy to travel to gardening and food to French lit and surely beyond. The best is yet to come. Outside sits a rack of books for 35 cents. Inside, there is another near the cashier, where each book is 50 cents. The gentleman, presumably the owner, was soft-spoken and had no idea what to say other than Thanks when receiving praise for the store. Perhaps he isn't used to it, since apparently there are other book stores in the very near vicinity. Buck County Bookshop is what I saw first, and walking out with Philosophy of Science ($7.95) Intro to Mathematical Philosophy ($10) and World Orders Old and New ($7.50) I was pleased with myself. I bet the other stores didn't have these books!

It's a lovely little store, with books and book-related merchandise, an owner who is ready to help or to leave you alone, depending on your inclination, and "two friendly dogs" according to the owner, who were snuggled up together in their dog bed when I was there. In addition to a room of books for children and a room of books split between best sellers and young adult books, they have literary T-shirts and canvas bag, some children's merchandise, and some wonderful pins, 'secular saints candles,' and snarky magnet sets from the Unemployed Philosophers Guild ( https://philosophersguild.com/ ). Despite the size, (and it is actually quite a bit bigger indoors than it appears), there is a very good and varied selection, and the owners do a great job of dividing up the merchandise based on type and interest. Finally decided to stop here after driving by the sign for "Books" for literally years. The store…read moredoesn't appear to be very large from the outside, but, you may find yourself slightly overwhelmed once you walk in. The books are practically floor to ceiling in some areas with many of the shelves being two stacks deep. Books are organized by genre and first letter of author's last name. Genres range from Mystery and Romance to Classics and End Table books. There is also a room full of children's books and a decent selection for young adults. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere of the store. It is relaxed and fairly quiet. No one comes up to ask what you're looking for (although you can ask for specific titles/authors if you need) or eyes you while you're digging through the stacks trying to find exactly what you want. There are several step stools around to help you reach the highest shelves and be sure to grab a shopping basket at the entrance, as you'll likely need one. Remember, all of these books are used and come in varying conditions. All of the books that I purchased were in good to excellent condition. For the price of $3 per book, you can't beat it. He even accepts trade-ins, which then brings the price down to $2 per book, if I understood correctly. He accepts cash and credit. I have no complaints at all and will definitely be going back to gauge how often the stock changes. Thankful to have a used bookstore nearby. What I spent today on 12 books wouldn't have even gotten me 3 at Barnes & Noble.
