Lovely, lovely, lovely! This was an amazing trail! Baby safe the whole way to take a stroller, and just beautiful along the way. They keep the trail nice and clean with amazing sights to see. It's even nice enough to lead to a library. Very cute. Definitely visiting again. Only thing I will say is there is not to much shade provided so plan accordingly. Despite that they offer seating along the way. read more

First time to walk at Panther Springs Park yesterday with my husband. We've driven by the dog park many times before. I had heard from my neighbor about the path to the school and Parman library. On this first trip, I was amazed by the patches of flowers along the way so I definitely stopped several times. As I stopped to take a picture of a purple flower, there was a green bug that hopped on my camera for a ride! I had my husband take a photo of the bug too! We didn't quite make it to the school and library this time but definitely want to come back and go further! read more

This is by far one of the more cleaner/ nicest trail heads we've been too. It was so peaceful and serene. I really enjoyed that they had various picnic table areas along the trail so if at any time you needed to pull over to rest or grab a bite to eat, you could. There were also little signs along the trail pointing out different wildlife you might see including the giant red headed centipede which I was glad I didn't see in person. We unfortunately did get attacked by a couple cicadas but you're in their territory so it's only natural that bugs are going to fly around you/ land on you. We were able to see a couple little lizards and some beautiful butterflies here. None of which we ever saw on the other trails. I think it's worth the drive to come out, just make sure you pack lots of water! read more

Has anyone else noticed how bad the maintenance of Panther Springs Park has become? Limited mowing along the walking trail; overgrown trees blocking the path; trash cans not emptied and poop bags not picked up. I walk several parks in SA and none are as badly maintained as Panther Springs. I tried using the 311 app but there is no appropriate drop down category for reporting this. Called 311 and was told since there is no such category they can't report this to Parks Department. SA does a great job building things but a horrible job maintaining. read more

Nice, clean dog park! There was plenty of running room and it is broken into a small dog area and all dog area. The dog park had some trash cans and doggie bags around the entrance. I also liked that they had balls, tires, ramps, and trick stations set up around the park to play with. included in the park are also some benches for people to sit on, however they are pretty muddy and a little shade from trees. One thing I didn't like from the park was the water. They didn't have a lot of water other than the fountain outside. If your dog is thirsty you have to exit the first gate and then they can drink from the fountain. The park did have a lot of empty water bowls around for guest to refill with their water I assume, but I would have liked the park to have a water refill station or something for the bowls. The gate thing is a hassle and if other dogs are coming in they have to wait. It was also cold when I went so I stayed an hour tops. But other than that its a great park and no problems yet! read more

Such a cute park! I found my new quick running spot in north SA! Panther Springs Park is clean & has a nice paved trail. As I was running through the trail I observed multiple paths that fed into this park from other areas such as a library & school. There are markers through out the trail & at one point I saw a quaint rest table. At the entrance of the park off of Wilderness Oak there are two dogs parks, one for small dogs & another for bigger ones. They have plenty of things for the dogs to do & there are usually other doggos there for your fur baby to play with. I will update my review as I continue to visit & run at Panther Springs Park. read more

(22635 Wilderness Oaks, SATX 78258) Apparently there's 3 entrances to this expanded park: All on Wilderness Oak - this location, one behind Parman Library, and another behind Wilderness Oaks Elementary. This Doggy park is very clean and seems pretty safe. There's always a police car here in the parking lot to keep watch. I just don't like how it's so close to the main street and there is not really a pedestrian crosswalk with a stop light. Only flashing lights but the cars are still pretty fast. It's easy access and the Doggy area is double-gated so you can let them loose and have them play in the agility area if you want. There is also exercise stations for their humans too along the trails! LOL Behind Wilderness Oaks Elementary has 2 trails, both very easy and smooth. It would be best to start there. This location, however, has the port-a-potties. Another Yelper posted a pic of the trails in yellow and orange. Check it out. This park is huge so you could easily get lost if you wonder but patrol is everywhere along with everyone else. Another nice park is Stone Oak Park if you haven't checked it out. It has trails that are more difficult and more shade. And it's not that far from here! read more

Excellent trails, all smoothly paved! They have a great dog park, picnic areas and miles of great trails that run throughout the west Stone Oak/Blanco area. You can easily get to the Parman Library or Wilderness Oak Elementary. Nice :) read more

First time taking my boy to this dog park, we were on our way out for a road trip and thought it was a perfect pit stop for him to run around at. It was a bit of a headache trying to find the dog park entrance which is straight down on wilderness oak and once we got there is was over packed with other fur friends. The vibe wasn't the same as our usual dog park at McAllisters because all the dogs would crowd around the entrance making it hard for you and your dog to walk in. Thankfully there were no issues in that aspect. Other than that some of the senior dogs would simply get grouchy is they got bumped around from how crowded it was. We walked the trails too before we left and there seemed to be a lot of poop on the trail itself...it was gross but overall, I would come back if we're ever on this side of town again. read more

Panther Springs Park (on Wilderness Oak in the Stone Oak area) was much anticipated, and it turned out to be better than we had hoped. We have already visited the dog park a few times, and it has plenty of space for our four-legged family members to run and play. A few more shade trees should be planted as soon as possible, because in the summer it's going to get hot. The new concrete paths are well designed and are just the right length for a nice walk. We have ridden our mountain bikes on the pathway as well as the dirt trails, and there is a lot of variety to get a good workout. It's too bad that the water-control berm/dam has been fenced off because that was a good place to ride, but I understand if that is part of the flood control property. If you go, be sure to walk the entire path from the Wilderness Oak access all the way to Parman Branch Library. Once you are there, the Nature Trail is a nice, tranquil walk through the trees with some exercise equipment to help a workout. San Antonio has done a great job expanding the green trail system, and the Panther Springs Park is a wonderful addition to the system. read more

Came across this park while staying in the Stone Oak area. Entered down by the library and walked about half the concrete trail and back and then drove up to the dog park entrance. Morris ended up playing with five other dogs in the larger park at one point and then we took another walk. Glad we found it and met some nice people too. The dog park area was fairly well maintained during our visit in February. read more

Dog Park Review - I love the location and easy access to this dog park, however, after taking my dog quite a few times since it opened, I have to stop. This is due to humans not picking up after their dogs! It seems like the majority of people bring their dogs in and then forget about them. For some reason people congregate around the gate which makes it a pain to get in and out. While people are standing around talking, their dog is wandering around pooping somewhere. It's like these people take their dog there to poop so they don't have to worry about it in their own yard. I'm tired of walking around with my dog having to watch everywhere I step to ensure I don't step in poop. Not to mention my dog possibly stepping in it, disgusting. read more

Prefer this dog park to others. I know mulch is pretty much the standard for dog parks, but I wish there was a grass patch. My dog loves, loves, LOVES to run. She's one of those who doesn't pay attention to the other dogs; she'll literally play fetch all day. This is the first time we have gone to the park since they did some renovations on it. There are now lots of stones mixed in with the mulch. Unfortunately, I didn't think of how this would affect my poor girl. When I got home from the park, my poor girl would not get up- she just kept laying in one spot, even after offering her some bacon. I thought she was just tired, but I finally noticed that her paw pads were all torn up; breaks my heart. Overall, this is a nice and convenient park, but if you're wanting to get some good exercise in for your pup instead of just socializing, I would suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Love this park. Just went in after work today and it's beautiful. Ran from the entrance of wilderness oak to the library. On the paved section. And there is some not paved sections too. There is plenty of parking. And I saw my subdivision from a section of the path. And love the dog park. read more

Beautiful park and has nice trails. I wish the dog parks had grass but it was mostly dirt and mulch. We ended up walking the trails and it was a lot of fun. We saw a deer on the trail, who happened to be very friendly. read more

This is a nice park with clear trails. There isn't much shade, especially compared to other parks nearby. It may not be patrolled as often by park rangers as evidenced by beer cans and other trash just off trail. Also, people need to clean up after their dogs. read more

I love taking my dogs to the dog park here. I know its under construction as I am writing this, but I know it will be spectacular when its done. I still take my dogs to the trails and walk them in the evenings. It is a great place to wind down in the afternoon. read more
