I have been on a roll with trying out different Mexican restaurants in Gallup, I was recently told about Panz Alegra and thought that i'd give it a try. I was greeted by welcoming customer service. After I ordered the chicken enchilada combo w/ green chile. The salsa and chips came out and were okay, the salsa tasted as though it came from a can & the chips were a little too crispy. My enchiladas came out and they were delicious! The green chile was nice and fresh, and the refried beans were cooked to perfection, in addition to the spanish rice being very tasty also. The food was good, but I think that you should be getting much more in terms of portions for the price that you are paying.

As authentic as it looks from the outside and their "Best Authentic Mexican Food 2018" award it kinda fell short. The service was great, quick and very attentive. I am a chips and salsa girl, but the salsa was great but the chips were tough and had no flavor. Our entrees were out quickly but my beef taco and beef enchilada had dry beef that had no seasoning almost boiled. The beans need to be cooked longer some bites were tough. I didn't finish my meal, so I tried to enjoy my margarita but that fell flat on its face as well. It tasted like lemon lime Gatorade with a splash of tequila. The three stars was for exceptional people and service but the food needs to be re-evaluated.

Steak and enchiladas special $12.95 is ok

Lumpy-seated booths, tacky 80s meets frontier and mirrors interior will all set the mood for mediocrity. And that's what appeared. We ordered top shelf margaritas and got a chemical laced Cuervo 1800 and Gran Marnier iced sweet and sour, heartburn city. We sent them back and ordered beer in bottles. The service was kind and almost attentive. The tortilla chips were little chewy, instead of crunchy. The red chile was good and mild. The green chile was spicy hot with almost decent flavor. We ordered the 2 most popular plates, steak and enchilada special and the stuffed sopapilla. Both were edible. I would suggest getting a couple of fried eggs on top of the Mexican style plates. There is a nice air conditioned bar with horrible music to take refuge from the hot desert southwestern sun. But order the beer in bottles and not the mixed drinks. Bottom line: it costs too much for what you get. Try Jerry's, El Metate, or Sammy C's for a more satisfying meal.

Love coming here, they have the best stuffed sopaipillas, staff is always friendly and very welcoming as well as attentive.

Great tasting, economical food! Margaritas were weak, but food was authentic and delicious! Homey environment! My husband and I split a 4-item combo plate for $13! Friendly service!

Not much of a variety for a Mexican restaurant, more of America food. Nachos Grande was plain. Service was good.

Only been here for drinks but the margaritas are cheap, good, and strong. Three qualities not often found together.

Great house margarita, fresh baked torilla chips, hot secret salsa and a home steak menu. A Gallup mom and pop.

We were a party of four and wanted to get a drink while waiting for a dinner table. First thing he said to us was "I am not serving food", I thought that's odd no hellos or welcoming remarks. One of us said we just a want a drink. He continued conversing with an old couple and then they left. The bartender then started cleaning or "something" with his back towards us, so we waited patiently for him to address us. He finally turned around and one of us asked him if someone was sitting at the bar where it looked like the customer was finished, the bartender said yeah there's somebody there. We prob waited another few minutes standing in front of the bar and the bartender never said "hello what can I offer you to drink" or anything to the effect of being welcoming to the bar. When we finally sat down he kept tending to "things" behind the bar before he even addressed us with a dismissive attitude while asking us "what do you want?" I finally asked if he's ok? He stated "yeah I'm ok" and then got defensive and replied with the same annoyed attitude he had while we were walking up to the bar. He replied with a sense of arrogance "are you ok?" His arrogant delivery was very crass and I asked why he was having an attitude with our party. And he just laughed under his breath. We rode motorcycles for over 4 days and we just wanted a beer in a nice atmosphere but did not receive any of the basic customer service from this place. I do not recommend this place unless you just want to be annoyed with bad customer service with a sense of arrogance from a bartender who should be more welcoming especially in a customer service venue. To the bartender: if you lack sensitivity and customer oriented dialog you probably should stop working in the hospitality industry. You are not good for your company image. At any rate terrible customer service, felt like the bartender was only worried about receiving a tip basing his judgements on customers appearance.

The hostess was nowhere to be found, finally I think a server started to sit people so I had her put our names down. 30 mins later, we sat. Ugh. Finally ordered that it took a while as well. Somewhat frustrated with our visit, to say the least.
