We went here thinking it'd be a simple, easy drive thru taco place but we've never been back and I wouldn't recommend this place because the prices are outrageous and the food was just ok. We were charged over $8 per taco for simple chicken street tacos !!!!! I've never seen anything like it, the prices were absolutely outrageous. Those prices weren't listed on the menu, but what happened is we ordered 3 chicken street tacos, the speaker guy said "and did you want lettuce cheese and salsa on that?" And we were like yeah sure, then when we get to the window we realized we were charged extra for saying yes to that- even though those are usually just things that come on tacos?? This area can be expensive, but there are certainly plenty of other places you could get better Mexican food at wayy more reasonable prices, even late at night. I have been getting the relino burrito... always good .. last night at 6:00 pm to three on chicken ... other two were chilirelino burrito. First time the tostada was grilled so much it was flaking off. The relino was not cooked ... then the smallest amount of rice ... no pincodegato .it was wrapped around several times with it flaking ... had to search for the rice ... gust a few grains that I had to look for... I understand cook do there way in making them their way but grilling the wrap to a crispy flaking .. burritos are not fried and no rice Never again .. bent time time I'll try Seasides walking in ..sit down at the table ... if they get it wrong you can take it back to the counter.. when others are in line to order .. that quality checking.. it hard to to the when you are driving to salinas .... read more

DO NOT EAT HERE. SERIOUS WARNING. My mom was possibly drugged after eating at Papa Chevo's in Marina, CA. Within a short time of eating her meal, she became extremely drowsy, disoriented, and felt "drunk" -- even though she hadn't had a single drop of alcohol. She could barely keep her eyes open, slurred her speech, and felt dizzy and confused. We had to make sure she got home safely, and it was absolutely terrifying. Something is very wrong here. Whether it was a contamination issue, a spiked item, or some other kind of tampering, no one should ever experience symptoms like that from a restaurant meal. We have since filed a police report and are pursuing answers, because no customer should leave a restaurant feeling drugged or incapacitated. I'm writing this because I don't want anyone else to go through what my mom did. Be careful and stay alert -- I strongly recommend avoiding this location until there are answers and accountability. I've been going here for years! I went to college in the area and i this was that hole in the wall restaurant that the local college students love! You definitely have to try the carne asada fries which are loaded with toppings and extra salsa on the side! Keep in mind there is no indoor seating and the outdoor seating isn't too great. I had another bad experience here on Saturday. I called in an order 30 minutes before arriving at the restaurant. They didn't start my order until I arrived. Dude, I LOVED this place. I think it's Drive-Thru only, but there may be a walk-up window, too. (We didn't see anyone at it when we visited). The line takes a bit because it's all fresh made stuff, so bring a podcast. :-) The breakfast burrito was KILLER and I recommend it. Nachos were great. The salsas were good as well. I've brought friends from San Diego who claim they have the best Mexican food and burritos in SD and they vouch for papa chevos and say it competes with SD. The girl taking our order was very patient when I stumbled on some Spanish words and then we had a great Spanglish conversation lol she was very nice! Drive thru, hello! The amount of wait time this place has is ridiculous. You would think they got the cheese from milking the cow and then preparing it lol. We came around 9:30pm on a Sunday. Food was fresh, 1 car ahead of us in the drive-thru. The drive-thru was a nice option. Although, there is a walk-up window to order from as well and 2 tables for outdoor seating. They are also open pretty late, so it was a great stop for late night driving. We ordered: Carnitas Taco - this was good! Soft taco shell, crunchy carnitas, fresh pico de gallo, and guacamole. I think my exact words to my husband were, "this taco is pretty" Al Pastor Fries- came out piping hot. Lots of melty cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. The al pastor had an interesting smoky flavor. Big enough for 2 people to share. Pineapple Agua fresca- refreshing and they let me order it with "light ice". They are open late and are right off the freeway IN FRONT of the Valero gas station. Don't turn into the gas station as there is a fence separating the two businesses. The driveway may be easy to miss, so be wary of this. The guy at the window was friendly and efficient. Charges are sketchy. I was charged $32 for carnes asada fries and a carnitas burrito. The fries were soggy and some not cooked through. The amount of carne asada is not even close to being worth $12. The carnitas burrito had a humongous flour tortilla with nothing but the meat inside and too much tortilla with inadequate amount of meat. No beans or rice for $8.50. Again, check your order before getting turning your cards or money over. According to the menu on the website, the total should've been $20.50 plus tax. The tax wouldn't have amounted to $32! I'll be contacting the chain and keep you updated. I will not be coming back. read more
