The service is always good, I have never waited more than 10 minutes and the portions and everything are amazing. One of the few places I have ordered a burrito no beans and they have always gotten it right. I get my taco fix at La Costa in Salinas which I think has one of the best tacos. If I'm ever in the Monterey/Salinas/Castroville or Seaside area, I'd drop by La Costa for tacos. Very informal and casual sitting area covered or uncovered. The location is pretty central in North Salinas on a N. Main Street corner with great parking in front and around the side. The lot does get full when its busy. Don't let the down-to-earth old school appearance fool you 'coz the delicious food at affordable prices is well worth your visit. Just place your order(s) from the overhead menu with the friendly staff behind the counter. They call your number, you grab your food, sit down and enjoy or take outside and eat outside in the parking lot. They are generous with their selection of hot sauces and I'm happy that they have the El Yucateco which I like to spice up my menudo, tacos and mariscos. They finally accept card and Apple Pay! I wish they would accept online or phone orders. That is the only thing keeping this place from a 5 star. The food is great and it's mainly a to go type place since these isn't a lot of seating. It's a small corner lot with about 12ish parking spots and like 12 tables I believe. The burritos are bomb. As I was on the hunt for some authentic Mexican food in the Salinas area, there were a ton of selections to choose from. But all of y'all know that when it comes to tacos, I'm a picky eater. So after researching and narrowing down a place for the wife and I to grab dinner, we finally agreed on checking out "La Costa Taqueria". Located directly on N. Main St. and in between E. Laurel Dr. & E. Alvin Dr., La Costa Taqueria is one of those traditional, old-school Mexican joints that has withstood the test of time. For those of you that wish to dine here, they have NO indoor seating. All of the tables are located outdoors so be sure to dress accordingly based on the weather conditions. The parking lot is convenient but it is very small so on busier days and evenings, you may need to park a little ways and walk to the restaurant. The ordering process is simple as you just go up to the front counter and order what you want. Many people take their food to go with the limited space. On the Saturday evening when my lady and I came, it was quite busy but we were able to order our food and grab a nearby table since the weather was cooperative. Since I wanted a diverse selection of their meats, I ended up ordering 3 different tacos, "Carna Asada", "Al Pastor", and "Carnitas". Prices were amazingly affordable at only $1.75/ea. She ordered 3 "Carne Asada" tacos and we split a large refreshing "Horchata" drink priced at $2.95. Both our meals are ready at the pick-up window in less than 10 minutes. I will say that this place gives you a TON of food for the price! Best of all, they did not skimp on their meat selection at all. I was thrilled with the flavors of all 3 meats as they were seasoned to perfection. In addition, this place must have at least 8 different hot sauces to choose from. Service was excellent and the overall atmosphere had that old, gritty, 50's feel to it which made it all the more unique. All in all, "La Costa Taqueria" was an excellent hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant that serves very hearty portions at rock bottom prices. So for those of you that happen to venture to the Salinas area, do yourself a favor and give them a try. Hours are 10am-9pm 7 days a week. My rating, a perfect five stars. read more

Friendly workers and delicious food, makes this spot a memorable one. Plenty of parking and seating is outside. Menu is pretty simple compared to other taqueria places, but simple makes for great focus on tasty food! I opted for the burrito de camaron, shrimp burrito, with everything except for beans. And omg, my burrito was stuffed with shrimp! Each bite had shrimp! Full sized shrimp too! The burrito itself was about 10inches long and thick. It was yummy and had a kick to it. The shrimp was a bit bland on its own, but was perfect inside the burrito. The wait for the burrito wasn't long even though there was always a new customer ordering. One of my favorite go to places when passing through Salinas on my way to the central coast. I have been going here for about 13 years. They are always friendly, quick, and decently priced. Their seafood is always on point. My go to is usually their shrimp cocktail but this time my husband and I ordered two shrimp ceviche tostadas, two carne asada tacos, an horchata and an Agua Fresca to go for $24. They have a nice little patio to eat there but it was too hot so we preferred to eat in our air conditioned car. They gave us a huge cup full of ceviche and four corn tostada shells which we couldn't even finish cus it was so much food. As always, the shrimp ceviche tostada was delicious. The carne asada was a little chewy hence only the four stars but still good flavor. If I'm the area, definitely drop by. read more

Hella good! La Costa is a cool little spot right, its simple. I see some low ratings but don't come here expecting a Michelin meal its a cheap CASH ONLY drive-in. On this visit I got a Horchata and an asada burrito minus the sour cream and that's exactly what I got. The rice, beans, asada and other topping all were great. The red and green salsas were so good and spicy, FIRE!!!! I will say this, the Horchata was horrible on this visit. I've honestly had better horchata from the powdered crap at the grocery store. A great hole in the wall for some authentic Mexican food! Was stopping by here on a road trip & no regrets. The food came quickly & was fresh. All outdoor seating as it is more like a shack than a restaurant. I recommend their burritos & their nachos. Kind of bummed that they did not have a salsa bar for salsas, radishes, & limes like most places but they did have a variety of hot sauce bottles so I guess that kind of compensated haha. This place was highly recommended. I'm always looking for a good spot that sells al pastor. Not everyone can make a perfect al pastor...with pineapples and the right seasonings. We Ordered 4 al pastor 4 carnita tacos. Came with grilled onions & chili. I was happy! This spot makes them just the way I like them. Good portion of meat. Carnitas were delicious too. The place was clean and it wasn't busy at the time. We got there around 4pm. I heard they have a long line for dinner. Satisfied!!!
