This has been my go to for a while in the Marina area. I hadn't been back for several years, and they moved within the same shopping complex. Apparently they had just re opened that day. The service was outstanding, and they accommodated us moving tables due to temperature changes and our children making a lot of noise. (We requested the moves and they accommodated us each time). The food was fire, I had the burger medium, it was cooked perfectly to order and had fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomato, onion). Actually, my AI assistant helped me find this place. We are on our way back from our anniversary in Carmel and we found this cute little location. We were greeted warmly and got our coffees and food very quickly. The servings are so generous. And everything was just so delicious. We will definitely be back. We stopped at Tico's for breakfast on the way from Monterey back to Fresno and what a delightful surprise. Tucked away in a little center in Marina, we found a place with a friendly, welcoming staff and delicious food. The portions in my wife's bacon and eggs were so generous that she couldn't finish -- a job I was glad to take on for her. The eggs were light and the bacon perfectly crisp. The pancake on the side was a delicious. Every bite of my smoked turkey Eggs Benedict was filled with freshly roasted turkey, avocado, egg, and hollandaise sauce. The potatoes were just the right balance of crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, and the Tico's hot pepper sauce complemented them perfectly, smoky and earthy without burning all the way down. I recently visited Tico's Breakfast & Lunch and had a really nice experience. The place is small and cute, which gives it a cozy, welcoming vibe. I ordered the Mexican omelette, it was good, but honestly, I think I enjoyed the guacamole even more. It was fresh and really stood out. I also tried the country potatoes, which I had heard great things about, but there was nothing in particular about the taste of them. still good though. For my drink, I got an orange juice. Fabulous find off the beaten path. Buried in the back of a of a strip mall it is a little bastion of hominess. The decor is kind of like Granny's and the staff are warm, efficient, and friendly, too. Went for breakfast with my wife. She ordered the apple fritter breakfast which I was super close to ordering myself. I was glad she chose it. I went with Tico' breakfast with eggs over easy sausage and sourdough toast. Every single thing was cooked to perfection. Sausage was high quality and an area where many breakfast spots will skimp on quality. The patties were hand-formed and had great spice. The potatoes had great flavor and were evenly sliced to guarantee an even cook and crispness with each bite. The over easy eggs were cooked on both sides but had a runny yolk for my crispy sourdough toast. Breakfast may seem easy. But you can easily eff it up. Also, I stole one of wife's apple fritters. Yikes, were they good! First thing I'm checking is the apple cooked through. Im not trying to have a chunky apple in my fritter. They were sweet an matched the gooey inside. As a local who has been patronizing Tico's for a number of years, I was again and indeed impressed with its overall service that I received yesterday--August 2, 2026. The establishment was operating from an entirely new building after opening on the preceding day. Because of the expansion, I think the kitchen (cook) was able to prepare meals for more than one patron at the same time; thus we received our meals far quicker than in the past (Although by most of the previous patrons being considerate, there was never a problem with the wait.). Yesterday was a god send; I ordered and the waitperson (a young lady) provided superb service, and the end result was my being pleased as well as her receiving a wonderful gratuity. Folks (locals and visitors alike)--when you desire superb food and service, I highly recommend your going to Tico's, my "go to" restaurant when I desire to dine in Marina, the city where I dwell. We had an amazingly delicious breakfast at Tico's, which opened in 2004, and realized we had forgotten just how terrific it is! I ordered the Garden Omelet filled with a wonderful variety of vegetables including zucchini, served with crispy potatoes and sourdough toast, while my husband loved his flavorful Seafood Omelet with hollandaise sauce, and his fresh fruit had scalloped edges and were so tasty. Also, my large, excellent Caffè Mocha was the perfect finishing touch. He has his own hot sauce, marmalade and strawberry jam, too. Tico himself brings an impressive background from top local kitchens, including Casanova and Michael's Catering, and that experience really shines through in every dish; we're already planning to return to try dinner, which is offered Friday and Saturday evenings--well worth a visit. read more

The family took us here on our visit to Monterey. I can clearly see why it is a favorite for all the locals. The wait staff were very knowledgeable about items on the menu. Lots of interesting things on the walls. I tried the mushroom omlette. It had lots of mushrooms inside the fluffy egg. It was soo good! The country potatoes were cooked just right. My grsnd daughters had the smiley face pancakes. The cleaned their plate so I must say they truly enjoyed them. The daughter in law had the Mexicsn omlette. She really enjoyed that. Tico's never disappoints! I've tried many dishes here, one of my faves is the eggs Benedict I like my eggs poached hard instead of the traditional runny and they cook it to perfection every time. Everyone of the options of pancakes and waffles are another fave, they are all delicious. The inside is quaint and homey, on a nice day the outdoor dining is a nice option. Tico's is the hidden gem of Marina. It is small and quaint and has the ambiance of a mom & pop cafe. The food is so GOOD!! Worth every single minute waiting for it. We enjoyed the specials of smoked turkey eggs Benedict and banana chocolate chip pancakes to go. (We were staying at a local resort) Not very often does breakfast food travel this well. We will definitely go back before we head home. It came highly recommended by the hotel we are staying at. They weren't wrong!! Is it fancy? My friend and I came to this cute, simply decorated place for brunch. I decided to get my favorite brunch meal, which is Steak and Eggs ($17). This included country potatoes and toast. The steak was New York Steak, which was perfectly grilled, with actual grill marks. The exterior was slightly charred, making it satisfyingly crispy. The meat was wonderfully tender, juicy, succulent, with plenty of great flavor. I asked for the eggs to be fried completely and they were quite tasty. The potatoes still had the skin on, were sautéed and oh so well seasoned. My friend and I shared the Apple Fritters, which were huge! They were sprinkled with powdered sugar, and the plate had slices of green pears sticking up to form the shape of a flower. I really enjoyed the Apple Fritters, which were delightfully crunchy, as well as warm and moist on the inside with actual pieces of apple. Service was great with a really nice waiter and the prices are super reasonable. I would return for dinner when I'm back in the area, to get either Fresh Salmon or Prime Rib. read more

We stopped in Marina on our way home to Oakland from The Monterey Bay Aquarium. We're incredibly happy to have found this gem! There are 3 people running this tiny, hole-in-the-wall, breakfast/brunch spot. We came in around 9am and my husband ordered Chicken Alfredo and I had the French Toast on Sourdough bread (my father-in-law ordered the Mexican Omelet). I had a question about the ingredients in the syrup as I have a severe allergy to artificial sweeteners. They went and took a photo of the ingredients and let me read them and were so respectful and accommodating about it! The coffee was fabulous and our waiter kept bringing coffee and fresh half & half to our table. My French Toast came out with a beautiful side of fresh-cut fruit -- including fresh mango slices! My father's omelet was loaded with veggies and nicely cooked potatoes -- a very hearty breakfast. He ordered Rye toast and we were able to try the homemade marmalade jam that's worth stopping in for! We also had fresh made sausage patties that were crisp on the outside and a little spicy on the inside -- definitely not your average diner sausage. This is a very nice hole in the wall place. They provide outdoor and indoor sitting. When you walk in, you are treated like a guest and not just a customer. Which really makes the dining experience quite lovely. The coffee was freshly made. I know this coz we had to wait a bit for our coffee to served as they were brewing a fresh batch. My sister ordered the French toast and she said it was nice and crunchy. My order of eggs Benedict was luscious! The eggs were perfectly cooked topped with rich and creamy Hollandaise sauce. I rarely eat breakfast this rich so when I do I expect something well made and this meal exceeded my expectations.
