While waiting for our entrees, we received a biscuit with butter and strawberry jam on a small plate. It took about 20 minutes for our food to come out. We did get plastic cups to self serve our drinks. The catfish had a pretty brown coating but could use more seasoning. The collards tasted like it came out of the can of Glory greens. The mashed potatoes need salt and pepper and butter. The fried pork chops needed salt as well. The Mac and cheese looked like Velveeta and the potatoes in the potatoe salad was firm but had a decent taste. There wasn't a designated server for any of the tables. There were at least six other tables with two or more people at each table. It seems to be a little disorganized with serving people. We had to ask for a to go box to a woman who was walking around with her hands in her pocket. We just assumed she worked there as well. There was a jazz band scheduled to perform in the other area of the building at 6pm tonight. I'll stick to my chicken gizzards and fried chicken if I return again. The food was mediocre as was the service. When we walked in we were greeted by a friendly dark-haired woman who quickly sat us at a table. She told us the bartender would be our server and then let the bartender know. We watched the bartender refill drinks, casually chat with the patrons seated at the bar, and head to the back, and other than a few glances in our direction she never acknowledged us. After waiting more than twenty minutes (I checked my watch), the woman who sat us said the bartender was "too busy" so she would wait on us. We ordered nachos with grilled chicken, and a combination of garlic parmesan and mild bone-in wings. After our server headed back to put in our order, a couple who were obviously regulars/family/friends of the bartender entered the building. The bartender acknowledged them immediately and had them sat at a table to the right of the door. She came over to their table right away and chatted with them at length several times. Ironically, they even received their food before we did. Our server was friendly and polite, but being ignored for twenty minutes was annoying. In hindsight, we should have just gotten up and left. As for the food, the nachos were not good. The cheese was ice cold and tasted like it came straight from a can. The grilled chicken had little to no flavor, and there were diced tomatoes on top rather than the salsa or pico de gallo that the menu said would be on them. The wings were decent but nothing spectacular. The garlic parmesan flavor was really tasty, but the wings were not consistently sized so some were cooked better than others. The bigger ones had fat that was not rendered out (a pet peeve of mine). Our server checked on us, and a few minutes later the bartender walked by our table with cleared dishes, asked if we were doing okay, and mumbled something about being sorry she didn't wait on us.
