I don't throw this around lightly, but that was one of the most delicious sandwiches I have eaten in my life. Having spent 25 years in the military, I lived all over the country and had some genuinely exceptional barbecue along the way. Places that locals swear by. Regional legends. All of it. Which brings me to the point that I really disliked the fish fry. We started with an order of cheese curds because a friend said they were her favorite in the area. Good, gooey white cheese but I actually did not love the breading. It felt like the same breading used on the fish and I thought it was greasy and without flavor. Definitely not a fan, but obviously many others are. The fish was very large, and two pieces was enough for leftovers (usually I need 3 pieces for leftovers). But again, I thought the beer batter/breading was greasy and not very flavorful. The fish fry also comes with the saddest excuse of a lemon wedge. It was so small I had to jam my finger into the flesh of the lemon just to try and get some juice to fall. So that was another blow to the fish flavor.
