let me start off by saying we called and made reservations a week in advance. then we called day of to confirm and add two people to the reservation. they had no clue what we were talking about when we brought up the reservation. then had the wrong number of ppl for the reservation. then, the chips were stale, salsa is watery and flavorless and so is the bean dip they give with it. the drinks are ok and look pretty and is prob the only think i would get again. the taco salad was ok, just average and nothing special. the steak was quite chewy in it. overall, i would not come again. it is nice that it looks modern on the inside and is a cute spot if they would improve their food. the waitress was very sweet tho! also, they had a country band BLASTING. which, i like live music but not BLASTING in my ear i was basically screaming at my friends next to me. plus, a country band at a mexican restaurant is quite strange to me but ‍ read more

I love this place, the frozen Margaritas get you feeling pretty good for $5 and the New York Strip is always cooked to perfection. Love that the owner is always there and chats with you. Upstairs is an airb&b, brand new and beautifully decorated. The entire restaurant is clean and gorgeously decorated. This place was definitely hoppin' when we arrived. It didn't start well while we waited for the hostess to get off her mobile phone (she was giggling at the messages she was receiving and we saw her do this many times). However, once seated, things got better. Our server was prompt, courteous and attentive. The initial chips and salsa were delivered almost instantly. Our meals were very tasty and the portions were plentiful. We would definitely return when in the area, but next time I might politely ask the hostess to find mother time or place to use her phone. Margarita game is on point! Got fajitas for 2 which was more than enough, and delicious. Decor is kitschy and fun, has a full bar, but not a "bar" atmosphere. The tenders and fries were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The chimichangas were a little underwhelming. The beef seemed a bit overcooked and the sauce inside the chimi was extremely salty. Another great spot in Seneca and others seem to like it as well because it was packed at 530 on a Sunday. Service (Siena) was solid all around and everything came out correctly with good timing between drinks/apps/entrees. The margarita was deliciously oversized, the chips n salsa were better than expected. My daughter enjoyed her burrito/taco combo and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her soup. I had a sautéed shrimp dish (shrimp Tapatio?) with pineapple and the flavor was great. Again, given the limited options around Seneca, this place is something you would find in a major city and that definitely gives the rating a bump. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of Papa Julio's and wasn't impressed. I have been about 3 times now, each time hoping to have a better experience than the last. I absolutely love the décor, location and staff! It's nice that Seneca has such an awesome "vibe" restaurant, but the food is just MEH and the prices are HIGH. There's not really any entrée options to choose from. So bottom line - there is very limited food selection, I was not impressed with the food itself and certainly not happy with prices, especially for a meal that doesn't make me want to come back and try again. I will say that the Texas Margarita is one of the best I've had! So if you're looking for a place to have a drink and hangout with friends, then this would make a good spot. If you are with your family or just looking for a place to have a good meal.....not so much. read more

Papa Julio is a great addition to downtown Seneca. I was drawn in by the eclectic decor. I loved it! Greeted by a smiling hostess. Followed up with a wait staff who was cheerful and always busy .... never standing. Food we had chips and salsa no charge! Our table had a wide variety of food . All was good! We will all return. After reading and hearing reviews of this place over the last year, and staying away, we heard that there was new management and saw some decent reviews. We went at prime time on a Friday night, it was busy, but we got a high top near the bar. A really cool place with an Art Deco feel. The service was attentive and prompt. It was refreshing to see management helping the wait staff. House chips and salsa, tasty. I had the ADP, pork carnitas over fried rice, with a cheese sauce; simple and amazing. Visited with a few friends even after reading poor reviews in this place. Well the poor reviews are valid. You have to ask for chips and salsa. Salsa is canned not home made. One of us had the 3 variety taco. Poor, and terrible. Chicken queso dry and couldn't eat . Steak burrito 3 nothing but grizzle pieces of meat. Van camp's pork and beans for re fried beans. Beer on tap was flat. Premium Margareta watered down. No alcohol in it at all. So 3 basic meals, 3 adult beverages, all of us did not finish their meal as was so gross. The bill was over $75 and you are charged extra for using a charge card. That came out of no where and not told of the up charge for cards. This guy who owns and runs the place has no clue as to what he is doing and how to run a restaurant. I'm guessing this place will be gone at the end of the month. read more

So the atmosphere is amazing but the food was not so great. The meat is way over seasoned. I got simple tacos and the asada was so seasoned and salty I could not eat it. I absolutely love mexican food and I'm not that picky. The thing that really made this a horrible experience was that my husband asked the server for a Texas margarita. (Tequila and grand Marnier). The server pointed out the millionaire margarita and it mentioned tequila and grand marnier so he ordered it. When it came out, it was in a very small glass. It was very sour so he had to water it down. He ordered a 2nd one that came out in a much bigger glass. When we got the bill the millionaire margarita was $35 each for a total of $70. No where on the drink menu is there pricing so we had no idea a margarita even existed at that price. My much larger margarita was $12. The food total was $50! When he asked the server and manager they told him nothing could be done. We probably go to Mexican twice a week and have never paid that much for one drink ever!! They only get 1 Star because I can't leave 0. This place is terrible. Between the overpriced margaritas, that might as be served in a child's supply cup, to the salsa that tastes like they added cinnamon to it. The owner wouldn't come to our table, but made his rounds to everyone else. I think our nachos had, maybe, a tablespoon of meat that we paid almost 3 extra dollars for. Worst restaurant experience ever. Tiny potions and outrageous prices. everything is ala carte - even the substandard chips and salsa, rice and beans. Queso was watery, thin and tasteless. Taco salad was miniature in size. Incredibly limited menu - no enchiladas, burritos or fajitas. But they do have pork rinds and chicken fingers - wth??? service was awful as well. untrained staff. 6 oz margarita on the rocks was $8 with well liquor only. This was the third time I have been here since it reopened 2 weeks ago. All 3 times were excellent. The food is really good and the atmosphere is awesome.
