Arrived late in Clemson/Anderson, SC area and we discovered El Jimador Elegante was close to where we were staying, so we went for a late dinner. We were met promptly by the hostess and she took us directly to our table. Atmosphere here is upbeat, we're close to the bar area which was occupied and the group was having a great time for a Friday night. We ordered a large queso dip to go with the complimentary chips and salsa, and it all tasted great. For our entrees we ordered: Carne Asada dinner, Enchilada Supreme and Single Tamale with Extra Cheese. I was very impressed with the efficiency of the kitchen we received our entrees quickly. Excellent service and a good spot and vibe. Actually wanted to try the wood-fired brick oven gluten free pizza a few doors down. But they were closed. So here we go! Mexican for dinner. Margaritas looked phenomenal. Gotta give em that. I had the 5-burritos plate. Mediocre I must say. All in all, one star for a great service. One star for location within short walking distance of the closed pizza joint. And a third star for the vibe and the salsa bar. The burritos you ask? No star for that. Half a star? No! No star! Was visiting in Anderson and this place caught us by surprise. There was this fun Grinched themed Christmas tree when you first walk in, then a beautiful and vibrant space to dine in. I loved the menus because they were so colorful and had pictures which is always helpful. They had a lunch menu available and a lot of options to pick from. I was very happy with my choice of the pork plate with rice and I also got the Mexican chicken soup. Hubby got 3 taco plate and MIL got the taco salad. They give you a big chips and salsa to start and also had an amazing salsa bar. Our server was so nice and attentive to our needs. We were pleasantly surprised by this experience and really enjoyed the food. It was also only $55 for the 3 of us for lunch so you can't beat that! Can't wait to come back! read more

This place was amazing! Great service, great food, and such a nice ambiance. It's gorgeous inside and the outdoor area is nice and clean. My husband got ACP with ribeye and the steak melts in your mouth. I got fish tacos, and it was delicious. Both sauces that came were excellent. New Mexican restaurant. This is not TexMex. This is Mexican food elevated. New takes on old cuisine. We were first served with a warm loaf of bread with a garlicky avacado spread and a salsa spread. I had the salmon perejil and my husband had El Jimador grill special which was a combo of shrimp, chicken and steak in stacked layers with cheese and a buttery sauce. It was a fantastic combination with onion rings that were crispy and fresh. The salmon had fried, chopped herbs on top of the salmon. The salmon laid on a bed of mushroom, truffle risotto. The risotto was so creamy I could have had that all by itself. It came with two sides. I had the truffle, Parmesan cheese and it had a very light citrusy flavor served with a butter/cheesy and citrus sauce. If I new adding a slight citrus to mashed potatoes, I would be cooking it at home from now on. The flavors are so deliciously unexpected, but so delicious it could be my new addiction . The Brussels sprouts were sweet not bitter. We ordered sopapillas for dessert. Fried, puffed pillows of dough with cinnamon, sugar and drizzled with honey butter served with vanilla ice cream. Nice ending to a very elegant meal! The ambiance is casual and upscale. Indoor, outdoor and upstairs dining. The waiters we very pleasant and informed on the menu. They have a full bar. This restaurant is a nice change from the typical Mexican restaurant. The menu ranges in competitive prices to pricey, depending on what you order! Great apps and some traditional affordable Mexican dishes. Try the no traditional menu items. You will not be disappointed. read more

It was horrible. The only chimichanchca I've ever had was crispy. Supposed to be deep fried. It was soggy and overrated and the shrimp was overcooked. I ordered an avocado salad which was lettuce a a little scoop of avocado. I was supposed to get rice AND black beans. No black beans. So disappointed. $30.00 wasted!!! read more

My boyfriend and I come here all the time, the service is always TOP notch. The food has been beyond incredible every single time without fail. We've had Johnny as our server for the past couple of times and he is amazing! Super kind, very attentive. This past time we were able to meet Louis, one of the managers. He was so great!! Very friendly and keeps the ambiance of this restaurant amazing. We've also had Briggs as our server as well and we love him. The staff here make you feel like family and that's a very rare thing nowadays in restaurants. I would give El Jim Elegante 12 out of 5 stars if I could. SIDE NOTE: get a strawberry basil margarita and the quesa birria and you will not regret it, also definitely save room for the flan. I mean look at that plating are you serious?! read more

A fairly new restaurant, upscale Mexican plus steaks. Quesadillas were delish and served on a lazy Susan type plate. Nice atmosphere and lighting. Place was good! Wait staff was very kind and attentive. Margaritas were awesome. Thought it was unusual they bring bread to table instead of chips and salsa but we ordered chips and salsa anyways. More upscale than your typical Mexican restaurant, but the prices honestly weren't bad. You can see in the pics the food presentation is incredible. Knowing this is a relatively-new restaurant, our experience was less-than satisfactory! Our food was brought out piecemeal, pretty much most of it was cold or less than room temperature. Our server, Carson, was very friendly and helpful, but they must need more help. This is a "pricey" restaurant, very nice ambience but the chef is really lacking in simple cooking! The chicken (thin pattie) and the skirt steak were overcooked or left in a warmer too long. The quesadillas were hard and dry, the ribeye "pieces" were tough.....I could go on, but..... won't be back. read more
