This was our first experience eating here. We were blown away by the wonderful customer service & the delicious entrees that were served. We didn't have to wait long for drinks or food. Our young waiter was very attentive from the prompt order taking to the fast service of the food. The atmosphere was cheerful from the colorful artwork and the happy buzz of the other families & couples around. It was an enjoyable experience and would definitely return. They have several different salsas and dips for their chips and wow, just wow. The ones we tried were great. We had the Baja Fish Tacos, highly recommend. We had a hankering for mexican last night so we headed to the blue tolock. Arrived just after 6:00. Place wasn't to busy and there were several open tables and booths. The hostess asked us to wait for a minute and disappeared into the back. She came back and explained she had no booths available and she could take my phone number and call me when one came available. Since we're out of state she seemed to have a problem with my area code not being 864. There's no place to wait inside or out so we stood outside. I should add that during the time we waited there must have been at least a dozen people leave. After waiting outside for about 2 minutes, a car pulled up with a family of 4. Our party was 3. They went in and as I watched through the doors they were seated almost immediately. Blood pressure rising I entered to confront the hostess. After waiting 2 minutes I decided enough is enough and we left. Karma is sometimes a great thing as we ended up at another Mexican place called el arriero just outside downtown. Basically blue Tolok is a fast food soup kitchen run by complete idiots. I can verify this because we have eaten there several times. But hey it's close and they do have cold beer. Well then for any of you readers here you have to tryst arriero. It's a little farther if coming from the east but it's a real Mexican restaurant run by, wait for it, real Mexicans. I was so excited to visit here based upon the other reviews. I was disappointed to find out this place didn't seem to be anything special. While this may be more authentic than most American style Mexican places, I find it to be far from authentic (the place beside the gas station on Brown Road is the most authentic one I have found in Anderson). Food was so-so and service was poorer than I have received at other Mexican restaurants in the area. I would be willing to give this place another shot. If I return and have a better experience I will update my review, but I won't be driving out of my way to get there. read more

This little place is hard to miss. A colorful exterior and outside dining area gives way to an even more colorful interior, tastefully decorated with frescoes and artwork. Excellent value and nice lunch menu. Many choices on the menu overall. Food is freshly prepared and the nacho bar has several different dips and salsas to suit any taste. Excellent bar selection and good service. Service was prompt and the food arrived quickly despite a lunch rush. Definitely on par if not better than the competition. Excellent portions, not too spicy or hot, steak and chicken were cooked very well, very juicy. The owner was present and made sure our experience was top notch. Excellently blended and great tasting margaritas and not stingy or strong with the alcohol, either. Authentic Mexican with some hints of Tex-Mex. Also has a small kids menu and a limited selection of non-Mexican dishes. My husband and I were not pleased with Blue Tolok. It was not authentic Mexican and it was over priced. I ordered a salad that was supposed to have avocado slices in it. When it appeared, it had les than a quarter of an avocado on top of mostly iceberg lettuce. I asked for additional avocado - I received another 1/4 for a charge of $1.75. While the food tasted good, the Anglo atmosphere and ridiculously skimpy portions convinced us that we will not eat there again. read more

Waitress seemed scattered and the guy at the front desk continued his conversation with another employee about something they were planning outside of work-as I stood there check and cash in hand and waited for them to get to a stopping point so we could pay and leave. We had actually planned to speak to with someone in the front before we left-maybe it was just an off night. But this guy never even made eye contact, didn't ask about food/service, didn't even acknowledge us besides finally reaching his hand out to take the cash And ticket I've been standing there with. Took almost 15mins to just get drinks, tried to order appetizers but couldn't even get a word out before the waitress spun around and left the table. Waited quite awhile again to order food. Food came out relatively quick compared to the rest of our visit but half of it was cold and once again waitress was no where to be found. We've been to this location before and service was fair but tonight was just awful. I think this sealed the deal on us not coming back and I wouldn't recommend it. The drinks are huge and inexpensive. The food is some of the best tex mex that I can remember having. Had no problem with service. I absolutely love Blue Tolok (or, as my 4 year old says, "Blue Tacos"). We eat here at least once a week, either dining in or carrying out. The food is consistently fresh and really good. We love the ranch salsa and the chunky mild salsa as well. The salsa bar itself is fantastic and the chips are always fresh and perfectly cooked, warm and thin with a hint of salt. It's easy to customize orders as well. My significant other has a food allergy and also follows a very strict eating plan - Blue Tolok is always happy to accommodate. read more

The food here is great! I conveniently get to order lunch from here because it is .05 miles from my job. So far, I always order pollo fundido with rice and beans and love it every time. My food is always prepared in a timely manner and quick check out service. The only negative (and the reason for giving 4 instead of 5 stars) is the lack of taste in the chips and the salsa. The chips are literally just fried tortillas with no salt or anything else. The salsa is a taste I can't really explain. This is my second review on this restaurant I won't get into the review of the first you'll have to read it I know I said I wasn't going to go back there but I had to go visit and see a friend as I was receiving the change from my 20 the owner asked me if I was the lady that wrote the review and said she would never be back and did I also sit at the back bar I said yes I could tell she was mad she must have read my review it's not like I didn't tell her I was going to write one from the past bad visit I had I just don't understand why she cannot take constructive criticism good reviews and bad reviews are all constructive criticism good criticism and bad criticism but are useful I being the intelligent customer that I am if I owned a business I would take the good criticism along with the bad and when I did get bad criticism and it was pretty much the same thing that customers are saying over and over again I would fix it I would not ban my customer from my restaurant just because it was a bad review I would take that constructive criticism and I would put it to good use especially when there's more than one customer complaining about the same exact thing that way I could still keep my customers coming in and cash flow going in also but I definitely would not banned my customers from my restaurant it's not like I was going to go back in there anyway but I did get a chuckle out of what she said I would invite my customer back and I would show by giving good service quick service and food hot also notice when my customers drinks are getting low and before they have to ask ask them if they need a nother drink read more
