I went back inside to see if there was a mistake and the lady at the bar/take out station said that the manager made my order. I ordered a takeout salad for a family gathering on Christmas Eve and specifically requested that the bacon bits be placed on the side due to pork allergies in my family. Someone else picked up the order and drove about 30 minutes to the gathering location. Unfortunately, my request was overlooked and the bacon bits were mixed directly into the salad, making it unsafe to serve. I called the restaurant immediately and explained the situation. I was told I could come back to pick up a replacement, but that would have required a 60-minute round trip and delayed our holiday meal, which wasn't reasonable. Friendly, warm and knowledgeable front of house staff. I often get the bread when waiting for my to-go order at the bar (LOVE the garlic oil) and they give me extra to enjoy with my meal. When my family entered, the atmosphere was very inviting. It felt very warm and cozy to fit the nature of Italian food. When we were immediately sat upon entering we were greeted by our server, we ordered the cheesy garlic bread it's solid. It's not great but definitely not bad. My meal was a 7/10, I got the chicken parm with Lasagna. For a long day on family vacation full of activities, I would hope to expect than a cold piece of lasagna and spaghetti with a little dap of spaghetti. The chicken part of the chicken parm was solid, no complaints there. However I wouldn't say this place is a two star rating because of the the great service Belinda and the atmosphere. First of all, we had requested to be seated in the bar room and there was a family of three loud toddlers sitting right next to our booth so we asked to be moved into the main dining room. I don't have anything against children; I just don't expect kids in the bar room unless the restaurant is packed with customers and there is no where else to seat them. This was not the case. Secondly, a Papa's small salad is supposed to feed 2-3 people. Our waitress decided on her own to split the dish into individual portions and while I appreciated the convenience, there was a lot less salad in our dishes than ever before. It barely fed the two of us--they were skimpy. Our main entrees were very good and we brought a little of each home. I ordered the Tortellini Con Alfredo and substituted broccoli for the tomatoes and it was made perfectly. My husband ordered a Sausage & Chicken Sizzlelini and that was great also (the sausage is quite spicey), but he was very happy with it. The Lemon Tango cake used to be one of their best desserts, but the last two times left us so disappointed. The cake itself was dense and mushy--not light at all. Maybe they changed vendors, but do not order it. The tiramisu is so much better. Our bill was $75 with tip and that included two glasses of wine and included a $10 off coupon from being a member of their Anniversary Club. All in all, if an Olive Garden was located as close as this restaurant is to where I live, I would have preferred Olive Garden over Papa Vino's. read more

The salads were drenched in dressing that most of the salad was swimming in the dressing. Yuk! If we go back we will be getting their pasta dishes instead. No more salad! read more

I love that Papa Vino's is in our community. It has a large menu with something for everyone and has a family atmosphere. If you're looking for a classic Americana Italian night- this will absolutely hit the spot! I'm not expecting authentic Italian by any means, but I did grow up on the east coast and wish some of their dishes were closer to their Jersey Diner origins (looking at your eggplant parm! You're so close!) Their house salad has blue cheese and bacon, so immediately eliminates a whole bunch of folks who would otherwise like a salad. The complimentary bread is excellent. My husband got me obsessed with doordash which has been helpful. It's helpful because it means when I'm home while he is at work I can get food because I currently have no car and I only have to pay for me, making once expensive restaurants seem not so bad. I decided to get Papa Vinos on January 2nd. I got the Manicotti and garlic bread, which came out to under $20 (only went over because of a tip). My delivery came and I was ready to dig in as soon as I opened my door to the smell of tomato sauce and cheese. Something I thought was nice is that they give you complimentary bread with an oil based dip when you come in to sit down, and they included it in my take out order. I get it's free, but often in take out orders restaurants don't include what they give you for free when you eat in. It was a nice added bonus because I haven't been to the restaurant in years and remember loving it. The garlic bread and complimentary bread were both delicious and was glad I bought the garlic bread even though I ended up getting the other free bread. I'll be bloated later, but at least I got to happily carbo load. I don't normally order Manicotti because spaghetti is my favorite food with ravioli coming in a close second but on that day I decided to change it up a little. It was good, but I probably will go back to my favorite next time. I am glad I went with trying something new though because it was good and it allows to me to give better recommendations if I dont stick to only 1 or 2 menu items. I didn't hate it or love it, which was sad but it was good enough to encourage me to be willing to come back and try something different. It also didn't photograph well. Having not eaten Papa Vinos food in over a decade, I was kicking myself for not coming back sooner. I will be coming back soon with my husband because he has been talking about wanting to try it. Had reservations here and arrived a few minutes early and were seated promptly. Server was friendly and quick with bringing out bread/oil and taking drink orders. The bread was fresh, soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. The garlic infused oil had roasted garlic in it and was a delicious dipping sauce for the entire loaf of bread we were given. We ordered the 2 for $16 meal which came with a drink, salad and an entree. Drinks arrived quickly along with 2 huge salads. Fountain cherry coke and coke were both the right combo of carbonation and syrup! The lettuce was fresh, the bleu cheese and bacon was plentiful, covered by a light sweet and tangy vinaigrette dressing. Hubby and I could have shared a salad and had I eaten all of mine, I couldn't have eaten dinner. Entrees came in a timely manner and hubby's pasta carbonara was hot and fresh and loaded with peas, roasted/diced tomatoes, bacon, mushrooms in a cream sauce. My ravioli was a spinach/ricotta filled ravioli in a combination of a cheesy/cream sauce & marinara all covered in what felt like a pound of baked mozzarella cheese. Dare I say, it was actually too much cheese. And I love cheese. If I order it again, I would opt for skipping either the cream cheese sauce and just stick with marinara or skip the baked on mozzarella. It was good, but a bit too heavy. The entire meal was $32 and well worth it, with the huge portions we received on everything. We had no room to partake of their extensive dessert menu. They also had a decent drink menu. read more

I was very impressed with the level of service I received from this restaurant. I held a memorial dinner for 20 in the small group event room. There was no charge for the room, and I was able to customize the menu. Service was phenomenal, and the food was a crowd pleaser. Not authentic! The food was very bland, not flavorful at all. We ordered the four seasons pizza which was decent. The spaghetti with clams- absolutely flavorless!!!! We had to add salt and pepper to eat it. Tortellini con Alfredo - even worst then the above. Again, absolutely no flavor. My husband couldn't eat it. A very nice spot for a big family dinner or heck even a date! I sat at the bar area and had a drink before a wedding rehearsal dinner in the back room. Which was spacious and decked out nicely! The service was great, the place was clean, and the bread went down easy! Typically this is a lunch go-to but tonight we had dinner. Service was excellent and they were very busy. Soft, hot bread complimented by the dried garlic and oil. Husband enjoyed chicken Parmesan although it needed more sauce. And frankly that ask is the only time I couldn't flag down the server. I enjoyed the Shrimp penne carbonara, just wish there would have been more veggies. Overall a solid meal. I'm 62 and this is the first review I've ever written. This was probably not my worst dining experience ever, but it was pretty bad. Maybe I'm just getting to be a grumpy old man, lol. So my wife and I decided to stop for lunch and chose Papa Vinos, as my wife has always liked their food. I think it is mainly a dinner place, so we weren't too surprised that there were only a couple of other customers inside. So even though we were just the second of two tables in the whole place, it took 20 minutes for the waiter to show up and take our drink order. Then it was another 20 before he took our food order, and finally, 30 minutes more to get our food. I ordered a meatball panini. What I got was two tiny sliders, each containing one bland meatball on a really hard slider bun. How do they call that a panini? Anyway, I hope at least the service is better at dinner time, but I wouldn't bet on it. read more

2-7-2021 My friend in our party had to go ask one of the employees if they could seat us as we waited over 5 minutes with no one in site. This is my first time here. I was very disappointed when I went to order All You Can Eat Soup & Salad only to find out they don't do this on Sunday. I usually go to the Mishawaka, Indiana location and can get this 7 days a week all day. I don't eat meat or pasta but I was able to get the soup and salad at double the price of what I would of paid for AYCE. The Minestrone soup bowl had an okay taste but it's not worth $5.50 a bowl. The soup needs some seasoning. At that price there should of been more substance and less liquid. I don't recall the papa salad price but it was more expensive than the soup. The salad was excellent and they did it the way I wanted. All spinach, diced tomatoes, raw broccoli, tri-pepper mix with onions, raspberries, zucchini and squash raw, blue cheese crumbles and balsamic vinaigrette The garlic crumble that was brought out was about a teaspoon portion size along with the stale hard dried out bread that must of been sitting for a long time. They must of made this bread a few hours ago. I asked for more as I love garlic and the waitress brought more to us. I got another loaf of bread but it was still hard and not hot like the ones you get in Mishawaka. The ones in Mishawaka are hot and the bread is soft in the middle. I don't eat hardly any bread so when I do I like it hot and soft. I may try this location again but never again on a Sunday. Our waitress was excellent and was tipped well. read more

Not Olive Garden Though the Bread was good and oil was OK, that's kind of where it stopped. My wife and I both were up in the middle of the night with upset stomachs after eating here. Service was slow. We had to ask for refills on our waters. Meal portion sizes were small for the amount paid. Salads were extra and not even offered by the waitress. When our dessert was brought, the waitress had dropped my credit card on the plate in the chocolate drizzle. Then she handed me the card, with chocolate sauce on it, and apologized. Had to use my napkin to clean it off. Never had a manager swing by the table and ask how the meal was. I will say the atmosphere was nice to have good conversation with my wife but unfortunately we will not be returning any time soon. read more

I gave this restaurant 5 stars because one of the definitions of quality is meeting expectations and this restaurant did. On this visit the food was very good and the service was outstanding. Ambiance was nice and on a par with this level of restaurant. Portions are fine for most people and more than adequate for many so a take home box might be needed. Have gotten the Monday takeout lasagne until recently. Feeds two with good amount of lasagne with good salad and small loaf of bread. So another couple visited, and being Monday, I suggested two orders of lasagne from papa vinos. Big mistake. Price is up a dollar. Salad has been removed. And I mentioned that a single order in the past had a small loaf of bread, just adequate for two? Well the last order contained a SINGLE loaf of bread for FOUR people. I almost think this was cashier girl (made herself up to look like a twelve year old boy -- think Peter Pan) that shortchanged the bread. There's something wrong and they need to fix it. read more

She didn't offer to deduct the price difference and copped a huge attitude. "It's not my fault you ordered the wrong thong.". I did not leave my normally substantial gratuity. When she saw what a was leaving she said, " I can't live on that ". Too late I thought, I should have said, "That's not my fault. Pasta was overcooked and not according to description on menu. Very disappointed today. Took our grandsons to lunch at the Papa Vino's in St. Joseph, MI. Little one had the kids ravioli. The pasta was quite hard, the sauce tasted like tomato paste. I had the penne bake. Description starts as "a hearty meat sauce." There wasn't any meat in the dish and it was tomato juice not sauce. No flavor. We use to eat there quite often but it was obvious today the quality of the food has gone down hill. Hope others have a better experience. read more

I used to frequent the one in Bloomfield when it opened and loved the place. I used to take my wife there before we got married, but got a surprising chance to go to this location. The food was great and still reasonably priced for the times. The service was underwhelming as the server continuously had to be asked to clear the table which is frustrating. Otherwise she was attentive but that is a bit of a pet peeve. The restaurant needs some updating though but the music was nice too. Great menu and food. read more
