After dining for several years our experience was so disappointing. Waited 45 minutes for our Open Table resy; although waitress was lovely. Suggested the basil lemon chicken for two -claimed they had to bring back on menu by popular demand. Unfortunately, chicken was unpalatable. Waitress asked if we wanted it boxed we said "no we did not care for it." She then commented "some people in the past didn't care for it either. It has a certain flavor." Being a store owner of 12 retail chicago locations, I did not feel it was handled properly. I always appreciates customer calling me direct with an issue. The dessert brownie tasted more like a dried piece of chocolate cake, which we did not eat after 1bite. I called the next day to share with the manager. The hostess from the night before , actually remembered us, said the manager would get back to us, she would relay our experience. Never heard back. We especially loved the bread service. What stood out most was how gracious the staff were as even though we were seated at 9:45 pm, we never felt rushed. They let us enjoy our meal at our own pace. We stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The vibe inside is lovely--they have an outdoor patio, but we opted to sit indoors by the bar. They even have an indoor atrium with fake windows, which was a pretty cool touch! I started with their tropical unsweetened iced tea, which was incredibly refreshing and delicious. As someone who eats gluten-free, I was thrilled to see how accommodating they are. They offer GF pizza and pasta, and other GF items are clearly marked on the menu. I asked our server about their cross-contamination protocols for the pizza, and she was super reassuring: they use a fresh pan and change their gloves, even though it goes into the same oven. I built my own pie with red sauce, cheese, and hot honey, and it was absolutely fantastic. My husband ordered a regular Detroit-style pizza and said it was delicious. Love the updated reno at Brewsters! The ambiance is much brighter in the atrium and the new furniture is comfy. The food is always delicious and the homemade sauces, dressings and baked goods are greatly appreciated! Although we noticed the portion sizes are slightly smaller, our meals were outstanding and the service was great. Parking can be challenging; however, they do have a small parking lot and there is street parking in the neighborhood. A beautiful outdoor patio with vines and flowers is a perfect spot for lovely weather days and Brewster's is great for families, lunch/dinner with friends or date night! read more

We had a large party and service was friendly but a little slow. It took longer to bring out two matcha drinks than it did to bring f out appetizers. The individual pizza and salad is the perfect portion. Beware of the fish sticks, they're presented in a pool of tartar sauce. Went with my siblings on our summer vacation. Deeply unimpressed. Nothing I despise more than a restaurant portraying a luxury dining experience and having an elevated price point while not providing the service to match it. Outside hostess was nice, but her comment that she was a server doing a hostess job showed severe understaffing. That being said, I appreciate her finding a table for us. Additionally, restaurant charged a kitchen tip in addition to the usual tip. Obviously, we still left this. However, it means they're not paying their kitchen workers enough. Our server was nowhere to be found, we had to flag her down multiple times and our section did not seem unusually busy. Very disappointed. Food was subpar had some chicken alfredo and bruschetta. Brewster's is a locally owned gem. We went for a late Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful. The atrium bar is bright and area with large windows and skylights and the hanging plants makes you feel as if you are sitting outside. There are family photos on the walls adding to the homey feeling. Service was very good and attentive even though the restauraunt was packed. We started with complimentary house bread with olive oil and parmesan, amazing. Their lunch menus offers salads, pizza, sandwiches and pastas. I had the half chopped salad and soup. The salad was a chopped margherita salad. It was very good. the basil was fresh and the pine nuts were buttery and sweet. My husband had the shrimp alfredo with a side salad. There were 12 of us- 4 kids between 4 and 8 yrs old, and 8 adults. We were seated right away upon arrival. The waitress came soon after and started taking our orders for drinks, appetizers and meals. There was plenty to eat and we were truly full. After returning home, I looked at the bill more carefully - and that's when I was shocked My wife and I ordered two for one meal that included pizza with cheese and two toppings of one' s choice. We asked for mushroom and basil. At no time we were told that there would be extra charge for the basil! This was the first disappointment. The other disappointment was the charge for a bottle of wine some of us drank. We ordered pino noir but were never told there were two options - $48 vs $64 bottles. This was just about as perfect an experience as it gets. We were in town for a Paul McCartney concert in Chicago and had opted to stay in new Buffalo to have a slightly less expensive room for the night as well as avoiding Chicagoland traffic in the morning. We had not counted on finding such a wonderful restaurant as part of the experience. To begin with the restaurant space is gorgeous. We arrived to find beautiful lighting, and various rooms dressed up with Christmas trees. This space was clearly something else in its former life, perhaps a home? Our waitress Melissa was an absolute sweetheart. She made a point of checking with us several times throughout the meal, and was Delightful to talk to. Our meal was magnificent. I went with their signature Bolognese, and it was absolutely perfect. Heaping amounts of sauce with generous amounts of meat, and perfectly cooked pasta. I was so pleased I almost licked the bowl. Dessert was a must and I went with their sticky toffee pudding. This was another triumph, wonderful toffee bits and soft finish. Frankly I'm a little sad that this place is so far away from where I live, or I would be inclined to come back just to have dinner. read more

Our favorite place to eat when visiting New Buffalo. Our 3 year old liked it so much, he asked to eat here twice on this trip. Their house salad is fresh, big portion size and has a really tasty dressing. We loved the New Yorker pizza. The crust was perfect. Great fresh flavor on the tomato sauce and nice cheese pull. My son asked for "noodles" both times and we ordered him the kids pasta with Alfredo sauce. It was piping hot, and again big portion size. The pasta tasted fresh and had a really nice buttery parm flavor. He kept urging us to try it and commented several times that it so delicious. Big compliments coming from a 3 year old. We got dessert one of these times and it was really good too. Ask for the bread too if you eat here, they have a nice bread with oil and shredded parm. Everything about our meal last night was first rate, food was excellent firstly! Place was hopping on a busy Saturday night but the staff were all on point and we were sat at our table of 7 with a baby in a nice square table that made it easy to converse with each other. Would be fun to come back and sit outside as it looked lovely but weather wasn't cooperating as had been the case for a lot of this '26 summer. We absolutely love this place! We were in New Buffalo for a couple days & we ate there for lunch on Thursday & back for breakfast Friday. Beautiful seating area with windows & skylights by the bar. Also, outdoor covered patio. The bread to start with olive oil & Parmesan was so good. I had the ceasar salad & it was delish. The crutons & dressing were delish. I had the Betty white pizza. Amazing. The crust was chewy & crispy. For breakfast I had the hippie hash. Veggies done to perfection. Toast & jam was great too. I came with a large group. Which they accommodated happily. Also, a woman at the next table was enjoying a birthday lunch with her boyfriend. Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Our waiter split our bill between our party which was appreciated. Make sure to make a reservation on open table as this is a busy area. We had dinner at 9pm on a Saturday with a reservation. We didn't end up getting seated until 9:20 because it was so busy. Bread is available if you request it. Only the first round is free. We had bruschetta as an appetizer (6 pieces). There was the perfect amount of toppings and the right size bread to go with it. I would order this again! It was so tasty! I had chicken Alfredo for my dinner. The portion sizes on the pasta is ginormous. It is easily two meals. I liked the sauce and the pasta. The chicken in it was just average. Following up on a previous review. The owner pretends in her response to my review to have followed up on my complaint and researched that I had used the card. However, one additional detail she doesn't mention. When I asked her what phone number was given for the customer who used my gift card in October 2025, she said "I won't give you my customer information". Ok, but she is accusing me of being that specific customer using the gift card and does no research to determine who actually used the gift card. We had a very kind waitress, who brought us a pizza and complimentary bread (I think you have to ask for this) for appetizers. Despite not having a woodfired pizza oven the pizzas came out great here. The pastas were also all very good. The Specialty (salmon) salad was also excellent. The lemon chicken pasta was a bit of a miss as there was basically no lemon flavor, and the Tikka masala (which is interesting they even have this on the menu) was also not the best as they don't stew the chicken in the sauce as is traditional. The people were friendly and the food seemed really fresh. But the real star of the show was a Detroit style pizza that we ordered. So I'm a kid from the south side of Chicago Tavern style or deep dish is what I've been brought up with and what I know. when I tell you the second, I took a bite out of this damn pizza I started questioning my whole pizza experience throughout my whole life. This is my first time trying Detroit style Pizza and oh my goodness I was very very happy I did. I already went back twice with my girlfriend and a buddy of mine. We made a reservation in advance, and when we arrived for our dinner it was pouring rain. They led us out onto the patio and tried to seat us outside in a downpour. The table had an umbrella but two seats were completely uncovered and the rest were soaking wet from drips from the edge of the umbrella. When we asked if we could move inside, we were told there was no space but they might be able to move us in in 90 minutes if something opened up. There was no indication that we would be seated outside when we made our reservation. Or when we checked in. There was absolutely no apology and they seemingly fully expected us to eat our meal outside in the pouring rain with no coverage. It is so ridiculous it is almost unbelievable. We went elsewhere and several other local restaurants were immediately able to accommodate our group and were not seating people outside even with umbrellas. Please take your business elsewhere- have never experienced a total lack of consideration for your customers quite like this. read more

I stopped in for some dessert. The texture of the pot de creme was good but the flavor was not quite for me. The tiramisu tasted good at first bite, but the middle and bottom are watery, unpleasant. That is a first. A glass is not a good idea for tiramisu. The hummingbird cake was ok. Frosting is pretty sweet and the cake is a little bland but ok, kinda tastes like banana bread. The server was friendly and everything came out quickly. The bar area is nice. There are no prices on the dessert menu. No reason for that. There is a kitchen tip as well as a server tip line on the receipt. There is a credit card fee but no one mentioned it. I don't think it is ok to just hope that people see the small print. Might be bias here, because Italian is top 3 favorite foods, but this place was recommend by a friend to try whenever we had a chance to visit the closer part of Michigan. First of all, our waitress, super sweet!! Customer service does matter and she was on it!! So sad her name didn't stay with me though. We got seated by the cute fireplace, which was perfect for the chilly day. We got a bottle of wine, some starters and the Betty white pizza. We've been here quite a few times in the past but this time was Breakfast. Wow, they really fixed up the place, looks like a few more outside tables. This time we sat in the atrium because we always like the atmosphere here. I ordered Mary's Mess, it's the Mess but with a Bloody Mary. My wife ordered the half order Biscuits and Gravy with a side of sausage patties and a Bloody Mary as well. Both were very good, as well as the Bloody Mary's. The Service was great, and food order was timely. My only issue was the ++Kitchen tip added in the bill. I'm not going to take any stars off for that. All tips are basically shared with staff anyway, and I did leave 25% (my sister used to be a waitress) We love the new decor, the food is always good, I don't think we've ever had a bad meal here. read more

Enjoyed a tasty and affordable ($16) lunch special, which was halibut, roasted carrots, and cauliflower puree. My friend had a very nice salad with delicious salmon. We did try the roasted squash app, which had a good flavor, but we didn't care for the "skin" left on. It was rubbery. Breakfast found us with embellished French toast and the old standby breakfast. 100 stars. This is the absolute, no doubt, the best restaurant in town. And just a wonderful restaurant in general! Every time I come into town from California (since I was a child, and demanded their pizza), I can't wait to come here. It just keeps getting better and better. The pizza is still amazing, but I have now also moved on to a larger variety of foods :). Last summer we sat on the beautiful patio and I had such a delicious salmon dish. My dad and sister loved what they ordered also. Ad we are harsh critics. Last month I was back in town and had to come two days in a row for lunch! I have never had better soup in my lifetime (I come from a family of chefs, and parents that owned two well known restaurants in Santa Monica, so I know what I'm talking about). The best potato leek soup I've ever had in my life! I would eat that soup everyday if I lived there! The next day I tried their white bean soup.. also so delicious! Of course we had pizzas and salads- all perfect! We brought a famous Michigan chef there for lunch and he loved everything too! The new remodel is gorgeous, and the staff is so lovely and friendly. I can't wait to come back into town in July... maybe you can have the potato leek soup available ;) I think our first server was named Caroline, and she was so lovely and helpful. This place has an amazing outdoor space. The inside is relatively small, reservations are highly recommended. I want to love this restaurant as I love the atmosphere and location. Their menu u is also very appealing and interesting. That said, the food is ok to good, but it's not the best around. I hate saying that, but after many meals that's where I'm at. Today we went for breakfast (first time) and got The Mess (great concept, but SALTY is an understatement). Comes with a biscuit, but if it was homemade I couldn't tell. It wasn't warm, buttery and soft, it was dry and a little hard. We also got the Banana Bourbon French Toast which was very good (albeit obviously all sugar). Service was excellent and it's a cute place. To be fair, our waitress recommended the Shrimp & Grits or the Eggs in Purgatory, but I went with The Mess so that's on me!
