We tried this for the first time last night. Exceptionally friendly staff makes you feel welcome. And the service was perfect. Being a vegetarian, I opted for Eggplant Parmesan and my husband had manicotti. All dishes appear to be homemade and the gravy (sauce) is very tasty. I also enjoyed a cannoli for dessert. My husband had the cheesecake but it was a small slice. The restaurant interior gives a homey feel and is able to accommodate large families. Great value for the price. We will be back. read more

Capozio's has been a solid carryout option for us during our Covid travels in the area. We usually get pizzas, which are always great. I really enjoyed the spinach lasagna recently. It proved a good call to add a meatball and sausage. They do a good job making carryout easy and safe. read more

We have been coming here for YEARS, and today this place has completely changed and been not helpful for our food allergies. The server was literally yelling to the kitchen to stop asking for her while she was taking our drink order. She refused to give us an ingredient list for the meatballs for a family member that has severe allergies. The shrimp Alfredo was sour, it tasted like it was sitting out for a SIGNIFICANT amount of time. The temperature reading on the thermostat in our room was 83 degrees. Coming from Chicago, I wouldn't call this place anything but average. Tasty, but average. There aren't a lot of pizza choices up in this neck of the woods however, and if you are craving it, Capozio's is probably one of the better ones. Just don't go in with large expectations and you will be happy. I'll order from them again in the future when i'm on vacation, but frankly i'd rather do some grilling and save myself for a really good pizza when i get home. Came here during a family vacation to Lake Michigan because extended family says this is the spot to get a great Italian dinner. What a place! I saw the adjacent table's service before we ordered, and the broiler dishes looked like the right way to go. I ordered the manicotti, mom had the cannelloni, my sister had the lasagna, and my wife had the the bolognese. Our server made a great accommodation for our fifth diner: my five-year-old niece who wanted spaghetti with two meatballs and a kids' fizzy water. Our server brought the niece's water with a plastic top (great move) and a kids' spaghetti alongside the adults' salads (as we asked). Once the adults' entrees came, WOW WOW WOW. You can taste Capozio's attention to perfecting the combination of simple ingredients in each bite. Nothing was over the top. It was Sicilian recipes written in 1914 (as the menu says). I cleared my plate, cleared the remnants of my wife's plate, and then cleared the end of my niece's spaghetti. I've had dinner in Milan, Florence, Rome, and plenty of the Olive Garden at home. Capozio's tastes like the local spot in Italy that tourists don't know about, and locals don't want tourists to know about. I hope Capozio's is still on Red Arrow Highway when I'm old and gray. Other places claim that when you're there, you're family... and that's an easy thing to write. Hadn't been here in over 15 years but my return visit did not disappoint. We were in late in the night but that didn't affect the service. Our waiter was a young man and he was very nice and attentive. I got the spinach lasagna and it was so good. Our table got the eggplant parm and the third got the cannelloni. We had their Combo Pizza and enjoyed it. The sausage is excellent and they do not skimp on the toppings. The crust was okay although we prefer the cracker crust style which is impossible to find on this side of Lake Michigan. Good service, very clean restrooms and adequate parking. My friends and I stopped at Capozio's about 40 minutes before their closing time and sat at the bar. The young man who waited on us was very pleasant and the rest of the staff never once complained, or acted annoyed, since it was close to their closing time. The food was delicious. Terrible experience just TRYING to order a couple pizzas carry out. We called for over an hour and nobody would answer the phone. I originally gave them the benefit of the doubt; maybe the phone was muted, maybe they were really busy. So I drove over to place my order. The restaurant was far from full and some employees were standing around. I was directed to the bar to place my order and waited for 10 minutes and the phone was ringing the whole time. Nobody came by to take my order. There wasn't anyone behind the bar, and there was a woman who had been waiting for her pizza for 45 minutes. The food at Capozio's tasted pretty average, but the price was fine. I spent $18 on a large anchovy, black olive pizza and antipasto split with two friends, a Corona, and a 20% tip. Although the meats and cheeses on the antipasto didn't knock me out (granted, I have really high standards because I work at a superb deli), the presentation was lovely. The pizza was okay - nothing bad about it but not particularly memorable either. The beer was cold and very reasonably priced. The service and atmosphere were wonderful. This part of Michigan is mainly a vacation spot for rich Chicago folks, and the proprietors are obviously accustomed to catering to that crowd. Both the host and our server were attentive, polite and quite friendly. We were driving to Chicago and searching a dark and lonely road for a solid meal, which is exactly what we found. During the tourist season, you can probably find a great deal more outstanding food along that stretch of the Red Arrow Highway, but on a chilly October night, this will do just fine. read more

This was my first visit to Capozio's and it was fantastic. We ordered a deep dish pizza with sausage, pepperoni and mushroom and it was sooo good - perhaps one of the best I've had. I was a little disappointed with the size of my side salad but it tasted great. We made a reservation so that we could be seated promptly when we arrived. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation only to find that there was no hostess to be found. Once she did arrive, she merely wrote our name down on a pad of paper and we had to wait in a queue to be seated. Please don't offer reservations if you don't plan to honor them. From the chaos at the front, one would believe that the restaurant was filled to capacity. However, we were seated in a room that was half empty. The waitress was friendly. The included salad was standard fare with all of the classic ingredients. The bread that came with the salad was very fresh and tasty. Our entrees arrived and we were not disappointed! I ordered spaghetti with meatballs and some garlic bread. Other people in our group ordered chicken parmigiana and spaghetti with sausage. The portions were very generous and the flavors were delicious! I was full halfway through the meal but I was not going to let this food get cold! I ate every bite!! We have been visiting the area for the past 5 years and Capozio's has been a place we have visited over this time. The service is really good, the decor a little old fashioned, but comfortable, and food is very, very good! We have had pizzas, appetizers, main courses all prepared with love and care that you can taste in every bite! The food is great, consistent in taste and preparation, and always served promptly and efficiently. When we return to visit again in June this will be one of our go-to places for sure! read more

Have frequented many Italian restaurants and a fan of them. Capozios delivers what it says it will deliver, good Italian food that anybody can go to that's reasonably priced. We had the whitefish, pan fried veal parmigiana, a small pizza and a few past kids meals and all came out quick and good. The place delivers two dining experiences; on one side is a sports bar experience and on the other side more of a sit down program. they share the same kitchen. Wow, if I could give Capozio's 0 stars I would for our overall experience there. First, they didn't want to didn't want to invest in lids for our child's water which led to 2 spills and plenty more money wasted in napkins. Then they brought us mozzarella sticks and apparently mentioning several times that we are vegetarians wasn't enough to have them bring us the sticks with red sauce and not the normal meat sauce. The last straw....our dinner with their version of pesto sauce was absolutely disgusting. When we asked them to return it they accepted it but since we didn't ask for a replacement, they still charged us anyway. The owner/manager insisted that the meal was fine. I guess the customer's opinion doesn't matter here, huh? We never send food back and we aren't picky but this place was awful. This is our favorite Italian Restaurant. I love the pizza and pasta and can't get enough of the bread. I live out of town now, but make my way back every time I'm visiting. It's a cozy little place. Will not accommodate for allergies. Our daughter has serious allergies & could order nothing but a salad because they would not make a pizza with no crust to accommodate her bread allergy. My wife asked for ingredients of meat balls because of an allergy - they would not check. The food is often good if you make no changes, but service & accommodation is a key factor to a good. As always, great Italian fare: homemade bread and sauces that you know the recipes haven't changed in years. Usually we just get takeout, but decided to dine in tonight. We had the veal parmesan and the veal and peppers - both outstanding! Pretty good salads accompany entrees - all a value overall. Service was pleasant and helpful. The decor is a bit unusual: standard Italian maps and such on some walls, football and baseball memorabilia on others. Not off-putting, but a bit out of the ordinary. If I was going to suggest an area for improvement, it would probably be the bar. They had a list of some more "modern" cocktails (e.g. "Italian margarita"), but the waitress had not heard of a negroni. Perhaps not a big deal, but the bartender hadn't heard of it either and said they didn't have the ingredients - although I had seen gin, vermouth, and Campari all behind the bar when we walked by. I was going to go for a Manhattan, but the waitress suggested that Jack Daniels was their normal "bourbon" that they used, so I passed. They probably know their clientele, so just don't go expecting anything besides a basic martini and you should be good. But do go for the food - great Italian and friendly service. read more
