I need to caveat this review. I have not eaten at Papagallos in about 7 years. I did however spend 5 years eating there about two times a week. Papagallos was contracted to provide the meals for the Army Reserve Unit I commanded. The service was always excellent and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. The food was excellent even the mundane dishes they were forced to serve us through the contract (IE Spaghetti and Sauce). My review is if you are traveling through the Keene area as I was today, and looking for a restaurant Papagallos is a save bet. read more

We had dinner this Sunday. Service was excellent, but the food quality was lacking, nothing like we are used to getting. We have eaten here many times. The bread we were served was either not fresh or over baked maybe. It was not soft and fresh feeling like normal. I had the broiled scallops which were fine. My partner had the seafood special which was shrimp, scallops, mussels and calamari in a spicy tomato sauce. We have never seen scallops as small as these were. They were no larger than an eraser on a pencil. Maybe the description should have expressed better, rather than "includes a pound of seafood". Service is good but the food is mediocre. I've eaten here a few times over the past seven years or so (always with a group of people who want to come here for some reason) and every single food item I've eaten here has left me unsatisfied. The pizza is pretty bad - too little sauce, tons of cheese, and an uninspired crust - I'm pretty certain I'll end up throwing out my leftovers because I just find the food so unappetizing. Italian food has the potential to be so good and this restaurant is just a let down. On the positive side, I do like that they give Andes chocolate mints with your check and the servers and staff are attentive. Serving sizes are also generous. There are just so many restaurants with better food at similar price points in the area, I can't figure out why people return to this restaurant when the food leaves so much to be desired. read more

Been going to this restaurant for over twenty years. Food is good but service is questionable. They sat us at a table next to the waitress station when there were plenty of open tables in the main floor. Our waitress made us feel very rushed. She kept asking if we wanted dessert when I hadn't finished my meal. When we complained there was very little response. Not happy with our latest experience. read more

My husband and I went on a busy Friday night and we were immediately seated. We ordered Potato Skins for our appetizer and Roast Prime Rib of Beef and Tortellini Alfredo for the main course. Good service! The server was polite and didn't keep us waiting all night even though they were super busy! The food was really good, well seasoned and cooked pasta. All the entrees come with a salad and bread, you don't even need to get a appetizer cuz there is so much good food! We did get one tho, cuz we didn't realize how much food we were getting. Great pasta and great service for great prices . Their appetizers (especially the gondola bread) are delicious. The pasta is well cooked. Great Italian food. The atmosphere is fun! I was in my way to Burlington Vermont for business and just happened to drive by around dinner time. I noticed that the place was packed, so I pulled over and read the Yelp reviews. Seeing how it got good ratings, I decided to give it a try. Let me just say, staff was fantastic! My server was Hannah, and she did everything correctly. Very accommodating, attentive, helpful, and just a great attitude. I would hire her in a heartbeat for my own restaurant. I ordered the chicken and shrimp scampi with salad and bread. The entree was a little under seasoned, but good. It could've used more garlic. The herb and oil mixture that they serve you lacked flavor. It was quite blah. Again, more garlic and crushed red pepper would've really made it yummy. The service more than made up for mediocre seasoned food. Try it out! read more

Median priced meals with above average quality is what you can expect consistently. The At-A-Boys. Diverse menu with a trendy bistro style leaning towards Italian. It's a big place so there is room for all. A weekend buffet that is killer for the price. Entree items priced $15 to $25. Handmade brick oven pizza with traditional and nontraditional toppings. Lounge area great for private parties. Bread and seasoned oil starts the meal. All good in this Hood. The Toe Stubs. During our dinning we had a few discrepancies, our round of beverages were served without carbonation (can't really blame the server for this, the machine ran out). We were first seated at a both for 4 when we were 5. We had to request a bigger table and they complied without any problem. Wait time for our entrees was 35 minutes. This might not have been a problem except our soup and salad took 30 so there was a lag time. It wasn't busy so a better score would have happened if they was a little more thought in bridging the gap. On our menu tonight. Seafood Fra Diavolo . Nice seafood selection over linguine and a spicy red tomato marinara. Baked stuff scallops with red bliss oven baked potatoes. No surprises here. Chicken Marsala. Thick well seasoned sauce with tons of shrooms. Chicken Luciana with sausage. Nice light creaming tomato gravy. Recommended. Steak Tuscano. 12oz NY olive oil, garlic and rosemary. Mixed veg and fries. Overall Papagallos consistently over performs in value, quality and venue. This place was great. Went there for the first time last Saturday night for my boyfriend's birthday. First off it was packed and on a wait at 6:30 at night. Not something seen too often in restaurants these days, especially one that seats 300! We waited at the bar where we received prompt and courteous service. I think it may have been one of the owners that came to bring us to our table. He carried our drinks over in a tray for us...very nice. that really stood out to me. We ordered an eggplant and shrimp appetizer, eggplant rolentini, manicotti with alfredo sauce and a side of meatballs. Everything was wonderful. Two other things stood out that brought this review to 5 stars. 1. The appetizer took a really long time, but without us needing to complain, the server already had it taken off our bill and came over to apologize. Not many restaurants will automatically do that(possibly explaining why they aren't on a wait at 630?...I don't know. Just sayin'). 2. The server. Charissa was fantastic. She knows her stuff as far as service goes and she was entertaining to talk to as well. It's not often I have a server that sends me into a full on fit of belly laughter and she did. Nice atmosphere, lots of tables. Expansive menu. Portions are large. Everyone should find something they can get into. I went for the tortellini but requested it in a marinara versus the creamy options that are standard. It was cooked properly and the marinara had a good balance of sweetness and tomato. Why has nobody said anything about the annoying LOUD birthday song that gets played whenever the waitstaff has to stop what they are doing to march around and wish people a happy birthday? One Friday evening we had to sit, sorry cringe, through that 5 times in an hour. If you haven't heard it, you wouldn't understand the torture. The food is OK... nothing spectacular. Haven't tried the pizza, just the pasta. It is a bit pricey for what it is though as I could cook a ziti bake/fettuccine Alfredo/spaghetti & meatballs/etc for 5-6 people for $20 total and thats the average price of ONE dish here. Haven't had a horrible customer service experience yet. We have never had to wait for a table and we always go on a Friday or Saturday evening. I think the place needs a do-over and some updating all around and PLEASE get rid of the birthday song... or at least turn the volume down. read more

A real mixed experience. Starting off the no Italian bread served. The dinner rolls are just so out of place! Eggplant parmigiana was decent. A bit too much sauce. Made the mistake of trying the baklava sundae. Since the owners are Greek, I gambled on the baklava. It just does not work with ice cream and chocolate sauce. A soggy mess. The atmosphere is odd. My daughter graduated from keene State today...she's been there 4 years and because she had to budget money never went out to eat....just used her meal plan. So last night after receiving her national honor society award she said she'd like to go. I had one of the best nights out eating I've had in a long time..Carissa (sp?) was our waitress. The 4 of us had different entrees: chicken fettuccini Alfredo w/broccoli, tortellini Alfredo with chicken and broccoli, chicken parmesan and chicken florentine. We all loved our meals. We went for a family bday celebration. The prices were right and the food was good, but ... Our table was in the function room and it was snowing like crazy that day. Every time some one opened the door it felt like we were all turning to ice! They definitely need some kind of curtain or partition or something to help with airflow there. My family and I are new in town and were looking for some good Italian food. We called in an order for pickup. We got a chicken Cesar salad and a spaghetti bolognese. The service was good and fast. The food was ready by the time we got there to pick it up. I didn't personally go to get it but I was told that the interior of the restaurant was lovely. The salad was excellent and the pasta was pretty good. Not the best I ever had but certainly not the worst. Will definitely go back and try some other things on their menu. read more

I love their GF shrimp pesto pizza; however, I was disappointed after driving up to NH for the day to be told by the hostesses that their kitchen was too busy on a Saturday night and to try calling back in an hour. In an area where the standard for what is considered "good" sets the bar lower than in large metro areas, this place is great! We ordered pizza, fish-n-chips and veal. Each item was better than anything similar we had at any other restaurant in this region. Reading through some of the reviews posted on this place, I wonder if they even went there. Some people give reviews based on unusual peculiarities in their personal preferences- so I'll try to avoid that. The ambiance was great, the kids loved the interesting interior of the place- it doesn't look as if it would be all that nice from the outside, but it's really very nice inside. The wait staff was excellent, not a single thing done wrong. In a region where most restaurants are truly awful, this one stands out and we'll be driving over an hour to go here again. read more

on Saturday February 11, 2023, me and boyfriend decided to go out for date night, after calling all around every where was booked, I called papagallos, and they were first come first serve. We pulled into the parking lot around 6:30 and it was packed! we went in asked for a table for 2, they said it would be about 25 minutes but we were welcome to sit at the bar if there was a spot and wait for a table. with in 10 minutes our table was ready! this place is huge too! Our waitress Waynee was great! from the moment we walked in every wait staff was very professional, the food came in a timely manner despite being packed! and great portions and was delicious! my only regret was not ordering a pizza to go! I highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back, the wait, Is worth it!!! I would give 10 stars! I don't know why I haven't been been before!!
