As a very very long time user of Yelp this review is my first one of not so many sub-contractors that deliver beyond the norm for their industry....and most others as well, especially in the construction industry. Having used several fabricators in the past few years for other projects I was never completely satisfied with the outcomes for one reason or another and was refered by Arizona Stone. From my initial walk-in with no appointment to my sit down with Maria Papagno whose friendly warm hand holding and genuine project interest is absolutely genuine to her facility tour of their unique slab and material yard, amazing Italian waterjet tables, polishing/leathering machinery to the first of many on-site visits, by son and all around operations guy Leo P, who demonstrated the portable laser device that measures the cabinett, wall or floor areas (no more tape measuring or mistakes) to their project CAD system, this detailed & highly automated family run operation is like few other stone fabrication shops in the Valley. I had quotes from 4 other vendors ( most of whom were late for both site meetings and reasonable quote delivery!) whose pricing was similar or higher but all lacked Jessica P's well documented project specifics on this almost $40K job. This company did everything right from returning calls, attention to small details regarding fabrication & finish options....( as well as more than a few changes Jessica fortunately suggested; turns out she is a formally educated designer and I did not have one) to fabrication and final installation time lines (well small delay of a few days due to a large project they were completing for the Scotttsdale Four Seasons) I was impressed, pleased and have no doubt you will be as well! read more

We purchased our home in October, 2021. Papagno's did the bathroom marble installation sometime mid-2020 before we took ownership. The installation was the most unprofessional I have ever seen and was unsafe. Below are photos of the marble shelf which began detaching from the wall within 10 days of our move-in. My husband, who is handicapped, had a 40 pound piece of marble dangling from the shower wall. If it had fallen, it would have been a disaster. I contacted Papgano's and their response was to put blue tape on it and to let them know the name of the general contractor. I told them, they had installed it, sent the copy of the invoice provided by the prior owner, and sent photos. Called again, to make sure the received everything . . . no response. Called next day to see if they had received the info . . . no response. Called next day to say I had contacted our handyman to make repairs because it was a hazard and we were unable to use the shower and we would send them the repair bill. That night, during dinner, we got a call from Sasha, who seemed to be their enforcer, who told us -- this is the first she had hear about the problem -- they don't pay third parties to make repairs because I guess they stand by their sub-quality work, -- and the wait time for repairs by them would be 12 weeks. I told her waiting three months to repair the 40 pound piece of marble dangling from our shower was unacceptable and a hazard they should be concerned about. I would see them in small claims court. The cost to repair it by our handyman was $270. I hope this review costs the 10 times that amount in future business. read more

When we were buying our granite from Az tile and mentioned we were using Papagno's as our fabricator several of the sales associates told my wife and I they were the best. They kept us informed of the progress thru out the job and provided detailed drawings of what the granite will look like when installed. The installation crew were fantastic, very polite, professional, and cleaned up everything before they left. When I came home from work I was blown away, they exceeded my expectations my a mile. I own a large design company in North Scottsdale and have recommended Papagno's to my clients and they have always delivered excellent results. read more

I was going to give a one star, but due to the fact, their installers were pleasant and did a good job. I give them a two star.. when I first stopped in their warehouse, they informed me they were at least 2 1/2 months out and I understood and I had no problem with that. I chose my countertop slabs and paid the down payment. They called and scheduled for the tear out of the old countertops mid January and informed me the next day they would build the template and then 12 to 14 weeks later to do the installation of the new countertops. I told them that was not acceptable and they found a way to get it in February 2, 2023. Who would expect to go 3 to 4 months without countertops in your kitchen or bathroom? When I originally talked to my sales person, originally she informed me the install would be the second or third week of January. The biggest problem with this company is they don't communicate in their office very well with one another and they have a complete breakdown in failure to figure out how to schedule the work to be done. I have been in construction all my life and an entire home can be built in four months. If you use these guys, I would highly recommend that you require in writing a start and end date. read more

We entrusted Papagno's Marble and Granite, Inc. Scottsdale, AZ to store half of a granite slab we purchased from Arizona Tile. We used the first half in the renovation of our guest bathroom. (Papagno's was the fabricator.) The remaining slab was to be used for our Master Bathroom renovation. We were very particular and spent a lot of time choosing this beautiful piece of granite. When we started preparations for our Master Bathroom renovation, we alerted Papagno's that we would be needing our remaining half-slab. It took them OVER THREE MONTHS to determine that they could not locate the slab and, they had no explanation as to its disposition. THEY LOST THE SLAB! As they were responsible for our property, we requested a reimbursement for our loss. Papagno's refused. Instead, they offered us a credit towards another half-slab which of course could not match the first as we had planned. Throughout our experience with Papagno's, communication was atrocious. They were unresponsive to many phone calls and we were forced to send them certified letters objecting to their offer and demanding reimbursement. Repeatedly, we asked to speak directly with George Papagno or any other principal of the company. We were always sluffed off to underlings. As a consumer in search of customer service excellence, Papagno's instead demonstrated sloppiness, inattention and lack of courtesy. We were never reimbursed! If we could send a message chiseled in stone to Papagno's and to whomever is reading this review, it would read: NEVER, EVER, GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO PAPAGNO'S MARBLE AND GRANITE! read more

Our realtor recommended Papagno's when we were thinking about putting in quartz counters in our kitchen and we wanted to make sure that we had the best fabricators. We ended up switching to granite but stuck with Papagno's and are we ever glad we did. Papagno's does something that no other fabricator does (that I'm aware of): they do miter cuts on the edges of their granite which allows the edges to continue the pattern all the way through the edge. It makes the edge virtually invisible and looks super nice. In addition, when they put on a backsplash, they do the same thing to carry the pattern of the marble through from the countertop to the backsplash. The effect is amazing. We also chose to have our the surface of our counters "leathered" which takes the polish off the slab and makes it have a texture. It really is a nice effect, and I'm not sure that many other fabricators have the machines to do this. The installers were amazing and really took care to protect everything as they were doing their install. I honestly couldn't be happier with the results. I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for new counters. read more

We highly recommend Papagno's. After we had a bad experience with another fabricator, we turned to Papagno's to fabricate and install countertops for our kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room. We were thoroughly impressed with Maria and everyone on their staff. Their knowledge and attention to detail is beyond any other fabricator we ever worked with. We made changes to our kitchen island based on their guidance as to seams and wear, and the edges they recommended turned out wonderfully well. They creatively laid out a quartzite backsplash that saved on material costs. Also, their water-jet equipment produces high-quality results. By far the worst experience of our kitchen remodel was working with Papagnos. Trying to receive quotes was like pulling teeth. We are reasonable people and never requested anything out of the ordinary but were treated like an annoyance by both the owners daughters Ari and Jessica Papagno. Papagnos no showed day of templating/measuring and had to rush out an hour later after I called. Total lack of communication and organization. Then the day of the install comes... We were told they would start at 8:00 a.m. Sharp. At 9:00 a.m. I called and spoke to Christina. I asked her when they would be arriving, and she responded "for what?" I said "the install... " several hours later they showed up with half the material. Totally unprepared. The next day behind schedule they installed the rest. This is where things start to go really down hill. The kid that was head of install was shaky and nervous, and drilled into our new cast iron sink. Yes, it came pre-drilled with large openings for the faucets. Yet, he couldn't manage drilling through the counters so they opened at the same spot for plumbing. He actually damaged our new $$$ sink by drilling into the pre-drilled holes. Glue from the island install oozed out onto our new hardwood and I have stains and spots where it landed that I cannot remove. The quartzite counters had heavy scratches all over the place. Totally neglectful in handling and delivery. We were told they would fix the scratches and it would be buffed out and polished. Several days later we have someone come out and buff out the scratches. Totally neglecting to cover our newly installed hardwood floors. So we had to call and complain, the guy was instructed to cover the floors better. But were left with hours of scrubbing our floors to get the dried sediment from the counters off the floor. Now my counters don't have scratches, but they are completely uneven and are hazy in spots. The perimeter is dull and no longer polished like the island. So again, I contact Papagnos and weeks pass without being contacted to fix the counters. So finally after trying to get a hold of Christina to schedule us, someone comes out again. Improved, but there are still several dull spots that look like hazed etch marks. So at this point I'm beyond exhausted and frustrated dealing with these incompetent dolts. I pay the remainder of my balance due. I have many, many, many more projects to do. I will NEVER work with Papagnos again and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Total disaster, terrible customer service, and horrendous craftsmanship and execution. read more

These folks did an outstanding job of fabrication and installation of our new counter tops. They have a great showroom, lots of selection, and the staff there is just the best. Its important to point at that when the fabricator matches the grain of the granite counter top through the edges and back splashes then you know extra time and care was taken to get it right. Of course this is not always possible but when it is these folks will do it. Another important point about workmanship is that our job included a counter joining a curved wall with a back splash. The installation required smaller pieces of backsplash cut to fit and follow the curve while still adhering to the pattern. The installer did it this way and it looks outstanding. We will always call Maria at Papagnos when in need of marble or granite...period. read more

Very happy with the team at Papagno's Marble and Granite. We recently completed a remodel in Scottsdale and they fabricated and installed all the counter-tops in our home with a mixture of Natural Stone and Engineered Quartz products. I have to say that the 10' x 6' Quartzite Island counter-top is one of the highlights of the entire project. Other fabricators insisted that we needed two pieces with a seam, but Papagno's not only said otherwise, but personally had the largest, most beautiful piece of quartzite I'd seen and was able to make our island a statement piece for our home. The staff was kind and gave us the personal attention that you only get from a family run business. Would recommend them to anyone! read more

I had granite installed in my bathroom. The folks at Papagno's seemed helpful enough, but after this experience, I would not use them again. I called them initially and they gave me a quote to add granite for my bathroom. The quote seemed O.K. so I went to their store to work out the details. Basically I wanted a 2cm granite in a fairly common color. It should be pretty simple. We talked about what we wanted to Maria, and she told us instead of 2cm granite, she would "upgrade" us to 3cm for no charge. I wasn't really in favor, but I agreed if the backsplash was made to look correct. She said "We'd never want you to have something that didn't look good." My guess was that they had a scrap of 3cm that they wanted to use. We pay a deposit and leave. A few days later we get a call from them, saying that since we have 3cm granite, we need to pay additional money to have the backsplash shaved down. I told them the 3cm granite was not my choice and I wasn't paying any more. A few days go by and they call back. They "found" some 2cm granite and we needed to go in to approve it. O.K. we go in and the granite looks fine, and we pick an edge. Also, we asked them if they could give use the scrapes of granite from the sink cutouts, and they say fine. They call a few days later to give us the install date. They can't give us a time, but say they will call the night before with the time. Never get a call, but at 8am the installers arrive. The installers seem to do a good job, but we notice the edge was not the one we asked for. Also, we ask about the scrap pieces, and the installers know nothing about either problem. We call the store and they explain the edge was the edge talked about initially but they never apologized for their mistake. We asked about the scrap pieces, and they said they had them, would "polish" them, and they would call us when they were ready. They have never called and it was two weeks ago. Every other granite company we have ever used always had the sink(s) installed before the granite was delivered. Papagno's installed it on-site. Now I know why the others DON'T install on-site. The smell of the glue was horrible, and it took days for it to go away. The granite looks good, but with the hassles and deceptions we experienced, I would NEVER use them again. The fit, finish, craftsmanship and attention to detail was out of this world and can not compare to anything else I have experienced in the many custom homes I have built over the years. I have worked with Papagno's Marble and Granite on two separate occasions and was thrilled both times. The first project was a granite coffee table completed from their boneyard. I worked with Maria to find an appropriately sized remnant, and determine other components of the coffee table as well such as edge type and how the legs would be completed. Being from the boneyard this coffee table was an amazing price and looked better than I had expected. During this project the thought of doing my kitchen counters in granite came up and roughly four months after I returned and received a quote for completing my kitchen. Papagnos came through even better on this project, Maria worked very hard to help me pick out a proper slab, backsplash, faucet, and undermount sink. Although the installation date was a bit further out than wanted I understand why, Papagnos is always busy helping a surprisingly large number of clients both designers and individuals. When it came time for the installation they were phenomenal as well. Three well trained employees of Papagno's (not subcontractors) came and were both fast and clean with the installation. My house was constructed in the early 70s so they ran into only minor issues with how the old counter was constructed, but figured everything out, and cleaned up better than when they started. After the installation Maria ensured I was completely satisfied, and ensured I understood proper care for my new granite countertop. I would highly recommend Papagno's to anyone considering granite or other stone alternatives, they are a family run local business done the right way. Everything is in house unlike most granite installers in phoenix that send you away to find a slab and play games with pricing. Maria was very straight forward, and made sure I understood everything as well as offered a very competitive price with great service. They are a family ran business and they all work together to get the job done and to make their customers happy. I went in with a cabinet door and a picture and they all worked with me to find the right piece and style. Their selection is across the board and I have seen some of the most gorgeous and unique slabs and remnants (petrified wood, quartzite, marble). I have also seen the most superb edges and finishes on counter tops that were finished and ready for installation. Seamless and stunning. You find a piece in their warehouse, they come to your house and measure, they fabricate, and then they install. It is all inclusive. That makes it easy and hassle-free. We are filled with gratitude for what they did for us and the quality of their work. (They deliver top quality which we have had such a hard time finding.) This was by far one of the best recommendations we have ever received. Popagno's far exceeded any expectations that we had. Their designer, Jessica, was so helpful throughout the entire process. I showed her a picture of our new laminate floors and dark cabinets and she suggested the granite and backsplash that coordinated with them perfectly. She also was nice enough to help me select an interior paint color that would tie everything together beautifully. My wife and I were changing the granite in our kitchen and drove to Papagnos after we had done some research on other companies. It is a family owned and operated company and we felt completely confident given the way we were treated by Maria, Ariadna and Leo. We have worked with three other granite companies in two homes and while the others were very good, Papagno's was exceptional. The selection was very good, but the measuring, fabrication and the installation were all impeccable. There was absolutely no need to touch up anything and they had some difficult angles and curves to accommodate. The installers were extremely skilled. Papagnos was recommended by my designer, but she has vowed never to recommend them on any future jobs based on their unprofessional behavior. This is a family-owned business where no one is afraid they will be fired for not doing their job. Christina let our paperwork sit on her desk and never attempted to contact us for two weeks while we were under the impression that our countertops were in the process of being fabricated. They have adversely affected our project so much that all other subs have had to reschedule. Even worse, there is not a single Papagno employee who has either taken responsibility or apologized. Although their material and installation is quality, I absolutely would advise you to go elsewhere. It's just not worth the headache of dealing with a bunch of Papagno brats when you can get the same material and workmanship elsewhere.
