First time I'd been there. My server was very attentive and friendly. I started with onion rings. They were good, but it may have been about time to change the grease. We ordered some dinner to-go from Papa's while visiting the brewery next door on a work trip. The interior was a large industrial type space that would be great for groups. Super convenient to just walk over and be able to bring food/pizza back to our beers as the brewery. Online ordering kept failing, so we called and placed separate orders and they were very accommodating. The pizza was good, and I loved that it wasn't caked in a solid layer of cheese like some places. It had a lovely ratio of everything. They do have non-pizza items on the menu as well. Their pizzas come in a bunch of sizes, which is so convenient. You can even get a mini pizza. The group also enjoyed the humorous / edgy decor and signage around the restaurant (pizza signage for the restrooms for example - see pictures). Since we were hungry when we arrived, we started with a couple of orders of Garlic Cheese Bread with marinara (see picture) and a beer. The cheese bread was good and just as we finished it up, the pizza arrived. We ordered a large Supper Pappa (thin - see picture) and a large Pepperoni (pan - see picture) and thought both of them were excellent. Lastly, I have a hard time leaving this place without having at least one of the Thelma's ice cream / cookie sandwiches from the cooler. Everyone was already very full, so I talked the kitchen into cutting it into quarters for us so that we could each have a bite for dessert. Great menu! Had a thin pepperoni with grazianos sausage which was the highlight. Crust was kinda chewy. Breadsticks were good. Loved the sauce for dipping. It had a little spice but delicious! Stopped by for some pizza after a bike ride. Got the BBQ pizza. I found the crust to be unique and tasteful. A little thicker crust with a very crisp bottom - win for the texture! Good flavor for a pretty classic BBQ pizza. We were able to order and play at the cute park in town square and bring it outside to eat and enjoy a beautiful day. After hearing very good reviews from locals in the area, my wife and I decided to take in lunch today at Papa's Pizzeria in Polk City. It was a great experience in a very clean nice little building. It's not much for atmosphere, but that doesn't matter all that much because when you walk in you get that great smell of a pizza kitchen and that sets the tone. For an appetizer we ordered the fried dill pickle spears, and they appeared to be fresh and battered in house. The pickles still had a nice crunch to them and great flavor with a nice Panko crust. We ordered a small Meatza pizza for lunch, and it was tremendous. Pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, and bacon all together on a nice thin crust. The crust had great snap and chew to it. Their sauce is straightforward and delicious and certainly not over done. It was a very nice pizza. As a bonus, the place also has a couple domestics on draft and also a nice selection of handles of local Iowa craft beer on draft as well. All in all I will definitely recommend to others and plan to return myself. read more

Best pizza in Polk City. I also like the fact that the Polk City high school kids are working here.

My dad and i decided on trying out this place while at fenders, so we walked over to the place and ordered the chicken ranch pizza. The staff was kind and patient with us and understanding when we had to come back to get a paper plate and some napkins. May have to try the other italian options besides the pizza there. read more

Ordered a pizza to go this weekend. Sausage and a veggie. Barely any sausage on it. One slice had zero another had two pieces (small). A few were better but still not more than one or two dollars worth of meat. Might as well been a cheese pizza. For over $24 dollars I expect more than sauce and cheese. read more

WOW most un-professional manager I have ever had an experience with. Let me start I was not happy with the speed of service , after 45 minutes of waiting for a pizza, I walked to the counter and asked nicely but firmly if our pizza was coming soon. I did statethat I was not willing to much longer, and if need be I could just settle up for our drinks. Instead of being met with kindness, understanding and empathy, I was met with rudeness. Very shortly after (about 5 minutes) our pizza arrived at our table. rather than being apologetic and trying to make things right with us, all I heard was excuses and how busty they were having a 2k hour.. she then left our table. Lucky for us an old friend walked in the door, glad to see them we made small talk, and I said to them if they were going to order pizza, they needed to be prepared to wait an hour... The ease dropping manager heard this and immediately came to my table and told me I couldnt talk to her customers that way.. and after her badgering me for a few minutes I asked her to leave my table as she was not being very professional... If you haven't tried Papa's Pizzeria, you are missing out on one of my favorite pizzas in the area. We frequent Papa's for carry out. While I have had the thin-crust pizza, my hands-down favorite is the thick-crust. It is hot and chewy like a good thick-crust should be, but also has a very crispy, crunchy crust that some thick-crusts don't have. There are many good choices among the Specialty Pizzas but my favorites are the Hawaiian, Meatball (w/local Graziano Italian sausage ), Chicken Alfrado, and Chicken Fajita (caution, a bit spices, but excellent). This place was really good! We biked here from Big Creek/ Salorville trail. The place is kind of a dive and when we went something must've burnt because the whole place smelled. It's an open layout- seems like it would be more of a delivery place with some added tables. But luckily the pizza was really good! We got the normal crust which is crunchy and almost like a Chicago pizza. The staff was friendly. I would definitely go again and bring my family. read more
