This place is pretty cute. I like that they offer a good variety of writing and calligraphy supplies. They also offer classes to learn. They have been open for quite some time (20+?) but they just moved to this location about 3-4 years ago. So come check them out if you're looking for writing supplies and want to support a local business.

I've been dying to try a calligraphy class for ages but never got around to it. For my birthday, my boyfriend surprised me with a calligraphy class at Paper and Ink Arts with Molly Margaret. I was thrilled! Paper and Ink Arts is pretty far away from where we live in Franklin, and after this experience, I definitely wish they were closer! Paper and Ink Arts offers several classes each month, so if you know nothing about calligraphy like me, you can learn! Molly Margaret isn't an employee, but she frequently offers classes here. She was knowledgeable, patient, and fun. I can't believe how approachable she made the class. Calligraphy isn't an easy skill to pick up, but I learned so much in 4 hours. My friends couldn't believe the pictures I sent them! I won't do a full review on the class since it's technically a separate entity from the store, but I definitely recommend classes here! When you need supplies for a class or you calligraphy skills, look no further than Paper and Ink Arts! They have tons of Ink, paper, nibs, markers, holders, instructional books, and all of the other supplies I'm slowly learning about. The staff was knowledgeable and approachable. I was able to pick up some fun pink and purple inks to continue to practice with at home. Now that I'm addicted, I'll have to make the trek across town again soon to stock up more! No worries if they're not close to you, you can order from them online! Do yourself a favor and book a class here or visit for your supplies. Support this awesome local business. You won't be disappointed you did.

Love thIs place! Stalked them online for a couple months then happened to be in Nashville fir a couple days so I scheduled in some dream time. Got to try out some neat Japanese markers and pens I've had my eye on...testing is fun! They've got testers for almost everything and if you don't see it just ask! The guy that assisted me was very helpful and made at least 3 trips to the back for me. Pricing is reasonable for a brick and mortar that has zero competition and a well curated collection. I had no room for calligraphy/lettering books but their range was the best I've seen. Books were all traditionally priced...even the 30 year old books. I guess if it ain't broke....

Not only do I go for my framing, I also go to a monthly painting class called Create It. Each month, the resident artist comes up with some fun painting and I sign up to go and paint along. Bring a friend or two, the beverage of your choice and your imagination and have a great evening out for mere $30. The classes are always an absolute blast and it is quite entertaining to see how so many people interpret the painting differently and make it their own. Aside from Create It, framing, paintings and prints, Robin's also has a wonderful assortment of jewelry and gifts. Since I am easily distracted by shiny things, this delights me to no end. Plus, buying from local artists and artisans is a great way to support community and I am all about that! Speaking of supporting all things local, David and Jessica, the owners of Robin's Gallery, are really into that as well. They are very active in both Hip Donelson and Hip Hermitage. They are local business owners who support their local communities not just by word, but with action and actively participating in events within their neighborhood. You really need to swing by and check out all this place has to offer. You won't be disappointed.

Childish UPDATE: Soon after posting reviews, a refund was provided. Along with a message on Facebook full of attitude blaming ME for not calling during business hours. Which I did, and even waited 15 minutes after opening time. And I left a message. She also ranted about how she hasn't had issues with other people rescheduling. So, you know, it's all my fault even though I emailed her broken website (contact us function didn't work), messaged more than 3 separate times on Facebook AND called, leaving a message. It's really unfortunate, so many others seem to love this place. We would have loved that experience too. Our homeschool group scheduled classes, and we all prepaid. Totally fine. My kids were sick, and I will not expose others on purpose. I was told we could reschedule; my kids were really looking forward to that. Since then, I've done the "contact us" on her website which doesn't seem to be functioning. I've messaged her MULTIPLE times on Facebook, she responded the first time and hasn't since, but it shows the messages are read. I've left a voicemail asking again for the reschedule or a refund of the $45. She still has my money, and we didn't get the class nor the ornaments that came with it. My kids are disappointed, and I just want my money back.

Branded as a "makerspace", memberships start at $150/mo and cap at $500/mo. Open 24 hours a day (to members only), this is the perfect resource for artists looking to get their business of the ground without the commitment of purchasing studio-space. The shops include screen-printing, metal work, and wood. You can use your reserved space for pretty much any type of art if you don't want your livingroom overflowing with tools and clutter. You are responsible for providing all material supplies, the equipment is the responsibility of the establishment. While some might have a hard time justifying the cost of a membership, I personally don't have the funds to purchase the equipment they allow members to use for free. For me, this is the key selling point. There is a gallery on site and a cafe which features some of the artists work on its walls. During off-hours the space can be used an event space. Scheduling and availability is all done online. All in all, it's a very straight forward agreement, and a fun space to collaborate with other artists.

Becca is an awesome instructor and allows the class to be free to create, but also helps to steer you in the right direction. I'll be taking the summer class here in May. I've been throwing on the wheel off and on for about 15 years now and the intermediate class offered here is perfect for shaking off the cobwebs. They do offer beginner ceramic classes if you're looking to just dip your toe into the ceramic slip. The classes are about $100 for 8- 12 weeks and the cost includes your clay.
