I didn't think a review on Paper Source was needed. But clearly I need to balance out the star ratio with my love for this place. Paper Source is for a certain type of customer, I'll concede to that. Guess I fit the bill... Though both are the exact amount of miles from my home I patronize the Studio City location over Beverly Hills for the very reason most people seem bot to like it: customer service! Each time I go there's just me and maybe one other patron and three sales associates. I get CONSTANT offerings to help from every person in there. Recently one of my brides' (in an event planner) stationery pulled a disappearing act and we needed her invitations Stat! Each person working, including the manager, helped design an invite, pulled together all elements, trained us on 1 DIY aspect and recommended a kick-ass printer in walking distance. Custim-quality fancy invitations done in 2 days(over the holiday weekend) due to the Paper Source team! I always get my personal system stationary here. And find the cutest distinctive, high end things you will NOT find at run of the mill megastores like Michaels. I'm trying one of their craft classes for Bastille Night this week. I really do love coming here. They have crafts for days and have great gifts and even better boxes and wrapping paper to put them in. From the outside this place looks pretty and inviting... I just wish it was like that on the inside! In the many times I have come here and purchased things, I have been approached by an employee just once. I find that unwelcoming, considering the store has a feel that would make you think otherwise. The staff will stand at the register and talk amongst themselves before they will even talk to a customer (and there have been times that I have been the only one in the store). She and another employee stayed after closing to help us out. It was really thoughtful of them since they knew my cousin came all the way from Temecula. The store is fun and attractive but I ordered Wedding invites here and the amount of time they said it would take to deliver them was very misleading. They also told me the liners and other accessories would come in a separate package so I could get started on assembling them. Wrong! And they said the proof would arrive in 2-3 days and it took 5. They also did not inform me the would come Fed Ex and someone would need to actually sign for the package. Don't they realize some people work? Would have arranged for them to be shipped to a work address if I had known. Just make sure if you order printed invites to allow yourself at least 6 weeks to receive them. Order it imprinted with your name/contact info or DIY with the aid of your trusty printer. Hubby insisted his letterhead was in proper ratio to envelope so nixed an upgrade to a slate blue, the color of his eyes. Alrighty. Turns out a week later he found he was completely out of envelopes. Love the people, love the store love the product. Really there isn't much else to say other then this place is play Candyland for people who like decoupage and crafts and fancy letterhead. There is nowhere else I would rather go to get a funny card, a poignant card or a card it all... than The Paper Source in Studio City. As one of the biggest fans of Paper Source, I often come here. The second I walk into this magical place, it's hard to leave. I have been to many of their locations however, the Studio City location has an extra special touch. Her name is Sarah A. She is the Head Key Holder and a complete rockstar!She really adds that special touch customizing your experience while shopping here. It's very obvious that she loves her job, and puts her heart and soul into each person that comes through those doors. Her smile, positive energy and passion lights up the room. I continue to search around for the perfect 'thank you' cards and other bits of stationary, like I always do. No one helped me, nope, not one. I did, however, snag a few things in the discount pile located in the very back of the store. Cashier lady said to me "yknow this paper has a hole in it?" uh yeah, you cut around it. Ok! I LOVE Paper Source but the service at this location is awful. I've gone a couple of times because I was in need of a unique, nice quality card/wrap but I leave each time terribly disappointed. There always seems to be plenty of associates working but they are either too involved in their own projects or conversations to be bothered to help. I continue to go back because I love the idea of this store and I'm in love with stationary but I think I will just wait until I'm in Pasadena to visit the location there, which is always a pleasant and helpful visit. One visit to the Studio City location, I thought the manager may be in the back but found her at checkout and not once did she even smile or welcome me to her store. The people that work here are awesome! Incredibly nice, helpful and creative. Came here looking for some kraft paper and rubber stamps, but was a bit shocked and turned off by the price. The lady that was helping us could tell. A minute later, she came back and told us a cheaper option would be to get stencils and instead, reverse the process. Brillant, creative and cheap! Why hadn't I thought of that?! After paying, we weren't exactly sure how to use the stamp pad on the stencil. Not to fear, they have a little creative workstation set-up to show us. One of the other store employees gave us a really thorough demonstration using different ink pads and stencils. She even gave us some advice on how to prevent the stencil from moving and also showed us another option of using a blending brush instead of just the ink pad (we didn't end up getting this). I was really impressed though by how helpful everyone was! We tried it the next day at home and it was perfect! Made us amateurs look, oh so professional. The gals here are so great and helpful. I've been to other Paper Source locations (like the one in Costa Mesa) and they seem a little snooty, but this place rocks. Price is definitely on the higher side and quantities for certain items seemed a bit limited, but I had a really great experience. Let me just say I came in to the store completely stressed out to the nines when I found out that the invitations I wanted to print at a local shop where going to cost me $6.5 per piece plus shipping, postage, blah blah whatever. After everything was said and done I would have had to pay for the envelope printing and 1 piece of invitation card upwards of $400 for a mere 60pieces!! LYNDA greeted me right away when I walked into PaperSource. She felt my anxiety and immediately went to work to lay out all my options and feel/vibe of the wedding. After listening thoroughly to my vision she brought me back and around the store multiple times as we collected all the supplies. She coached me and my mom through the process and showed us a step by step instruction of how to create our invitations. After cheering us on and guiding us through...far past her lunch break she finally cashed us out. After well over an hour..but who's counting.. She is awesome! I can't get enough of Paper Source! But especially this location. I've been going here about once a week for almost a year (not joking) because I was planning my wedding. Beware!!! Do not use them for your save the date or wedding invitations. Here was my experience based on trying to order 30 save the date invites for my wedding: -I had to keep following up regarding status. I received excuses. -The local store told me to contact customer service. Isn't this a service they need to provide if they realize they are not delivering? -COVID hit, and they confirmed they would send everything to me. They sent it to the store and told me it was my issue to solve. This took multiple emails to customer service to resolve. -The proofs came back twice with errors. They made the same ones more than once. -I reached out to customer service at the end of this process multiple times and no one got back to me. -I constantly received excuses and it felt like it was my problem to deal with. Where is the ease and customer service in that? -I was told for my trouble I would received a custom mail stamp with our return address. Do you think o ever received that? -It took almost 2 months from the order I placed prior to COVID to arrive. -No apologies from Corporate. -My local contact initially tried to assist but after having g to follow-up with her on status, I felt very much on my own. For me to have to keep asking for status updates, for telling me I need to contact headquarters because she is getting nowhere and for the stream of excuses, it was and remains to be unprofessional. read more

I usually shop at Papyrus. However, I was in San Francisco recently, walked into the Paper Source there and thought: "I need to find a store closer to home!" This store is amazing with all its unique items and high quality paper goods. I normally do not purchase Christmas items in October, but the display was understated and not in my face and I found lovely tea towels I will use as gifts. The sales person Nicole was very helpful. One thing I wished was that a store like this existed when my daughter graduated from high school. I wanted to create invitations and I had to go to an office supply store and try and find purple paper. Here, there is a whole wall of stationary in all shapes sizes, colors and shades, including knowledgeable staff like Nicole to help with design ideas and implementation. I will be back to Paper Source as it gets closer to the holidays and I have more time to browse the inventory and options. read more

I was very excited when I heard the news that a Paper Source was opening up in the valley. People can spend a lot of money on paper. I was willing to do so.:) Unfortunately, the service at this location falls below average customer service expectations. Actually, it's definitely below par. The sales associates are more interested in speaking to each other about their day and their personal lives rather than helping out their customers. How about a welcome greeting? You'll be asking for too much. The manager seems to always be in a "snobby/too good to talk to anybody about their paper needs" attitude. I think due to her hiring, the same type of personnel are hired as well creating an unpleasant shopping experience. Talk about bad energy---you'll feel it as soon as you walk through the door. Bottom line...it's paper people, not rocket science. Do yourselves a favor sales workforce at this location: 1. Smile 2. Do your job and help out customers 3. Wow! What a treasure this place turned out to be. I found myself roaming from one end of the store to the other, smiling the whole way, and came across gems in every corner. I was looking for a nice journal, and I found just the one I wanted. If you're a fan of stationary and crafts, the Paper Source should really be at the top of your list. Wow! Just wow! I had planned to spend my weekend writing thank you notes for wedding gifts but realized that I had forgotten to buy the cards. Don't ask me how I forgot, these things just happen when you have honeymoon brain. So I tried Papyrus down the street but either couldn't find enough cards in the styles I liked or couldn't find cards that "fit" the look of our wedding. (It was a rustic "Pinterest Wedding," if you know what I mean.) I was really, really beginning to panic. Thank you Paper Source for saving me! I looked at their boxes of thank you cards and was still wasn't finding something quite right when one of the nicest sales associates I've ever met asked me if I needed help. I started to tell her about my problem and her face lit up when she asked me what my weddings was like and the type of thank you cards I had in mind. Before I new it she was walking with me around the store and showing me different possibilities for cards, colors, stamps... there was so much! And the associate was so helpful, it was like I had my own personal shopper! After helping me select kraft paper cards and coral color envelopes, she invited me to their demonstration table and showed me how to work with the stamps and ink I had picked out. She even showed me heat embossing and let me try it myself. So cool! I didn't pick up an embosser while I was there but I've been thinking about it ever since. I might just go back to the store on Friday and pick one up. :) :) :) One final note about the store, because I've read a lot of negative reviews about the customer service below. I know a bunch of the other reviews are one or two years old and maybe the staff has changed? Because I can't say enough good things about my customer service experience with them! Purchased one item at 6:46pm. 14 minutes before closing at 7:00pm. I asked if the cashier (Nicole) could wrap the newly purchased item. Mind you, it was the size of a small lunchbox, and there were two employees on duty. She pretended to look at the clock and then said no, sorry, that I'd have to purchase a gift bag. Now, had I not been the only customer in the store I would have understood her conundrum with perhaps there not being enough time to wrap a small item. But this employee was simply being lazy. They had a decent variety of cute arts & crafts stuff. Even if you go in here not looking for something you will come out with a few things because everything is so cute. It's a little on the pricey side but all the tools you need to put together a nice hand made card or anything hand made is here.
