Italian spoken here, literally! A surprising gem, the owners of Paps are originally from Italy and it shows in the quality of the food. My hubby went there solo and happily reported. Fresh (pizza dough?) rolls were immediately tabled. Warm and buttery. Menu choices ranged from traditional to some interesting combinations. He settled on the salmon and shrimp with a mushroom paper sauce. Very nice dish, with just enough capers to give the sauce a salty little kick without being overwhelming. Newest place in town and it is AMAZING We come to town each year for work and they accommodated our party of 10 easily The food is exceptional, the staff are sweet and the owner is a great guy. We ordered 3 pizzas, 5 pastas and a ton of sides and appetizers. Everything is seriously authentic and delicious. Can't wait to come back next year. read more

Totally worth the drive from San Antonio, we will definitely be back! The stuffed mushrooms are delicious and my husband who doesn't care for mushrooms could have eaten the entire appetizer on his own. We ordered chicken picota, fettuccine Alfredo, tortellini, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza and chicken parmigiana. All our plates were delicious, you know it's good when we were willing to sample each other's plates! Their sauces are light, flavorful and the food reminded us of our time in little Italy in New York. Their desserts - lemon cake and tiramisu are the bomb! Overall, it was a nice experience. We went with a slightly larger party this time, so we were able to taste a larger portion of the dishes than usual. I got the Pap's trio, which had Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna, and Fettuccine Alfredo. On their own, none of those flavors really stood out to me, besides the Chicken Parmesan, but when you mixed them together it was like a scene out of Ratatouille. The Alfredo was a bit bland, so a bit more salt in that would be appreciated, and the Lasagna was pretty good. We got the Calamari as our appetizer, and it was easily one of the best calamaris I've ever had, with pops of flavor exploding in your mouth (Not literally.) The server was kind and efficient, and we got our food quickly after ordering. It was a small business, with a cozy feeling all throughout the building, and that seemed to match the flavors and attitudes around me. 9/10. read more

Best Italian restaurant ever! Very flavorful and authentic dishes. Cozy and under construction original historical building and staff is cordial, funny and amazing customer service and very accommodating. Picked up a large half cheese half pepperoni and sausage pizza from here, a side salad and dessert. First of all, the pizza was not half and half. The cheese side had 3 pieces that were just ok but still had sausage and pepperoni thrown in there! The pizza was barely cooked. The crust was still doughy and the cheese was just melted. It was very sloppy and soggy. I put it in the oven when I got home to try and cook it more. It did not have much flavor; the sauce was pretty plain. The flavor it did have was odd and tasted strange. We ended up throwing it away. The side salad was nothing but salad from a bag that looked days old. Most of the lettuce was white or looked like it had gone bad. The Italian cream cake was not good. The cake was dry and the icing had not much flavor. It was not the traditional cream cheese icing. My advice would be do not waste your money or time going here. Just not good. Not good at all. I'm not sure why it has 5 stars with 7 reviews. All I can think is that must be friends or family who were asked to do a review. read more

Ambience with Italian music at just right volume. Very clean. Owners take a family interest in customers. Fresh baked rolls are delicious. Menu is just right sized with all fresh made items. I had Pap's special with nice portions of lasagna, chicken Parmesan and fettuccine Alfredo. Alfredo pasta was fresh made and world class. Best I've ever had. Served piping hot. Wife had veal piccata with fettuccini instead of spaghetti. She loved it although I make her at home veal piccata that's a little thinner but flavor and seasoning was equal and superb. Dinner salad was about as fresh as one can get. Finishing off with Limoncello cake slices to take home and were great once we tackled them later. To go boxes required with a nice surprise of a couple fresh rolls tucked in. Restaurant run by a young Italian couple, friendly and obviously have kept family heritage alive. My husband and I found this place when we were out driving around last Sunday. It was everything the reviews said it was....friendly service, impeccably clean surroundings, quiet, nice atmosphere, and the food was the STAR! I had the Chicken Parm and my husband the Chicken and Shrimp Alfredo and both meals were hot, fresh, and delicious. Wonderful food at a good price.
