Shrimp scampi- I didn't think to take a photo till I was done. This is the leftover sauce after eating the nododles

TLDR: The chef sucked today and doesn't rate $17.99 a plate. I am willing to come back later on to see if they improve/the main chef returns. To begin , the original Luigi's was amazing and I can to try their new location. It takes a lot for me to yelp a bad review... I ordered the ribeye ortalano. I was nervous ordering steak from a small town country Italian restaurant. The steak came to the table with nice grill marks on one side and no grill marks on the other side. It was almost a coyote brown color and cooked to well done about 85% through with some red (not pink) on the underside. No exaggeration whatsoever, it was the toughest piece of meat I've had in a long time. I suspect it's freezer burn or they cooked it partially still frozen. I had to send it back and the chef refused to re-cook it because "they said it was medium rare". Ordered the shrimp scampi in substitute. Had good taste but was drowning in butter/oil. My wife ordered the tilapia geneovese and it was delicious. Flaky fish lightly fried and nice sauce. The server said the main chef was on vacation. The building is old but quaint. Hometown feel. The servers are disorganized but friendly. The servers also grab the bread for the bread basket with their bare hands (I find this gross as they're constantly touching customer's plates and then using the same hands to grab bread). Like bro... are tongs that expensive?

Every Italian place I have tried in Austin is a total ripoff - extremely overpriced and low quality. This place was the total opposite of every Italian restaurant I've been to in Austin - it was amazing! I immediately felt like I was back in NY. They were so friendly and gave us warm garlic butter rolls and water the second we sat down. It was the biggest menu - I wanted everything! It was so difficult to choose as I don't see even 1/4 of these options in Austin! I finally decided on the spaghetti and eggplant parm. But how I wish I could also get the baked ziti, the meat sauce, the lasagne, the subs, the calzones and the pizza too as everything looked amazing! The portions were massive - enough for 2-3 meals! Plus you get free salad and bread. And when we were done they offered us even more rolls to take home! Took 10 rolls home plus leftover salad and pasta. It was absolutely delicious, so satisfying. The best comfort food for a Sunday night meal. We paid $40 total for a massive meal that would have easily cost $75 in Austin and been 1/2 the size! Wish I could go back again and again if it wasn't 2 hours away!

The chicken is horrible. Inedible. It tastes like a boiled chicken breast. No flavor, texture like rubber. I've tried it several times. It is not good. My daughter likes to get the baked ziti... she really likes it, but often has to take off almost a pound of cheese before she can eat it. There is such a thing as too much cheese. I have heard the owner yell harshly at the weight staff and don't really understand why anybody would work for somebody that screams at them the way he does. Roma's has the potential to be amazing but I feel like the owner is holding himself back. Also, the prices are a little high. If I could sit down and have a frank conversation with the owner, I would suggest dropping the price by a few dollars and cutting the portions in half. I'd come more often if the prices were lower, even if I got less food.

We could not help but notice the gorgeous bar to the right as soon as we walked in as well as the beautiful woodwork. We were greeted immediately, and upon sitting, our drink order was taken. There is a full service bar, including beer on draft! My husband ordered the Lasagna Classico and I the Pomodoro with grilled chicken and angel hair pasta. Hot rolls and REAL butter were brought to the table almost as soon as we sat down followed by both entrees after about a fifteen minute wait. The entrees were steaming hot and fresh and after our first taste, declared delicious. The waitstaff was attentive and efficient. We ended the meal by sharing a piece of tiramisu, which was excellent as well. There is free parking in a four story city garage literally diagonal across from the restaurant which made the location perfect.

Everyone up front seemed very confused that I placed an order online, lost interest, and wandered off. FIFTEEN MINUTES later my order came out. I didn't check it. I live 45 minutes away and after I arrived home I discovered the pizza was topped with literally everything EXCEPT what I ordered. I couldn't even pick off the unwanted items due to a bell pepper allergy and the cook randomly chose to bake up the "Super Bell Pepper Fiesta" apparently. Not driving another 90 minutes round trip for you to try again. I contented myself to eat the slice of chocolate mousse cake..... which was impressively dried out and stale. YOU SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSED by that performance. Ridiculous.
