My wife and I didn't spend long here, and we certainly won't go back. We chose this salon specifically for its high reviews and spa-type setting, and we were looking for a place as local as possible so we could make a habit of regularly visiting for manis, pedis, and facial treatments. When we first visited the address on a Wednesday at 11am, they were closed. We were disappointed with the very-limited hours of operation (the schedule posted on Yelp is inaccurate), but coordinated to come back as soon as we could anyway, trying to be optimistic. Today we visited at noon, two hours before closing (which is 2pm on a Saturday). Nobody was present in what we assume was the reception area and nobody greeted us, even when the door chimed, so we walked into the back (the business is out of an older house,) and found two ladies with clients receiving manicures, who immediately greeted us with cold, annoyed stares, not saying a word. My wife immediately apologized, feeling like she wasn't welcome because of the awkward and intense glare from the employees. She explained that this was our first visit, and asked if clients were seen by appointment only. One lady hesitantly responded in a deadpan voice that they take walk-ins sometimes. When my wife asked if she could get a manicure, the ladies looked at each other simultaneously and said, "No, don't have time," then continued their work, pretending not to notice us still standing there like idiots. Nobody offered to schedule a future appointment or even offered an apology. It's hard to put into words the overwhelming feeling of snotty judgement we both received. We walked ourselves out of the dark residence, feeling icky. My wife and I enjoy bicycling around our little town, especially lately in the springtime, and were dressed in active attire when we visited. Based on the "greeting" we'd received, we questioned whether we were being judged based on our appearance. We were not treated with dignity and respect whatever the case was, and we feel far too unwelcome to return. read more

Ive been coming to Par Excellence since moving to Havre de Grace 15 years ago. Always courteous and friendly with great personal services. I've had manicures, pedicures, facials and massages and have been happy with them all. I recommend this place to friends when they are looking for spa services. read more

My husband introduced the spa to me as a surprise birthday gift last year. I had multiple services (e.g. manicure, pedicure, massage) done by two different people. The level of service was great! All of the staff is extremely professional, friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. I have since returned to the salon for multiple massages, facials, and teeth whitening. They continue to meet my expectations. As a result, I have recommended them to friends and family alike. If there was one suggestion I could make, it would be to extend business hours/days. read more

Love love par excellence. My daughter goes for facials for her acne. She just loves the treatments. Rosemary keeps working with her until results are achieved. I have gotten several massages there with Patricia. She is awesome. She will get all your extra tough spots and works with you according to how much or little pressure you need. It's very quaint. I have been going here for 15+ years and had almost every service they have to offer. I have never had a problem scheduling, paying or having any procedure done. I cannot say enough good things about here. The facials are amazing and my skin has never felt better or smoother. The massages are awesome and I cannot wait until birthday time to get them. I wish I could give this spa negative stars. Worst experience I've ever had. We went for a bachelorette party that we had to pay for beforehand with checks so it wouldn't cost the owner any money using a credit card (not a big deal right?) so we get there and right away the bride gets taken separately upstairs away from her bridal party for almost 3 hours...3 HOURS. They had one person working this party so 6 pedicures took an additional 3 hours. Mind you, this was 4 days ago now and they are already chipping. She didn't even use a nail file on mine. That was $36 down the drain. So I paid for a few other things as well because the owner told us she would give each a 10% discount if we purchased three services. Considering we were there for about 5 hours already I decided to not do my other two services because I wanted to spend time with the bride. Well let me tell you. The owner threw a hissy fit that she gave me a discount and blah blah blah so I said I would come back another day for the two services but to hell if it was that easy! She said if I came back another day then I'd have to pay full price for them...so I told her to give me my money back because I was never coming back again. Get this. She already cashed my check before I even had the services done!!! So she had to give me a gift certificate for over $200. Worst customer service I've ever experienced but also the most unorganized business I've ever had to deal with. I would never recommend this to anyone and am extremely pissed that we spent over $600 and it was all a waste of money and time. Do. Not. Go. Here. read more

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! I received the body polish today. I've never had a body scrubbing before, so while it was painful at first (I have a low pain tolerance and sensitive skin), it was so worth it. My skin feels like a baby's bottom! My skin was burned so bad that I couldn't go into the sun for a week! I had to go to a dermatologist. When I called to ask what exactly was put on my face during the facial, I never got a straight answer. Avoid this situation here. There are other places where you won't walk out burned!!! read more

Horrible. While the lady's were nice they did a awful job. I paid for a pedi and all I got was a 5 min soak, nail trim and polish. That is absolutely it. I've never received only that when I have gotten pedicures before. Then they seated my friend in a office chair with wheels and gave her the same service. I could have saved my money and done all that myself at home. I would not recommend this place for what they consider a "pedicure" read more
