Came here to run and hike. I parked not at the head of the trail because I don't have a 4WD, but I didn't have to walk too far. The path was mostly in the trees so there wasn't a very good view most of the time, but when there was a view, it was pretty great. The trail was also quite snowy although packed, so running on it wasn't too bad although I almost slipped a few times. Hiking was alright though. I ran one way and then hiked back, was on the trail for about 2 hours 40 minutes total.

Amazing spot to come bbq, paddle board, hike, mountain bike, or just explore and take photos at. Twin Lakes is such a jaw-dropping landscape to come do anything at. I rode my mountain bike around a side of the lake and it was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

From Denver, last Sunday June 08 2008 we took a drive all the way to Twin Lakes, Colorado. I cant deny it was indeed a long long drive for us. But its all worth the trip! Its 213 miles Southwest of Denver on Colorado 82. Twin Lakes is located near Leadville. A serene place to be I cant deny. With the majestic mountains and views that awaits you, indeed its breathtaking. Among other reasons, why I want to explore Twin Lakes, coz right in front of Twin Lakes, stood the HIGHEST MOUNTAIN in Colorado named Mount Elbert. Mount Elbert which stood tall @ 14 400ft. Twin Lakes, no matter how far you are situated, definitely I shall return. To explore further its beauty of flora and fauna. To experience God's creation of you... A definite paradise for backpackers, hikers and anglers alike. To add glory about Twin Lakes, it was added in the Colorado Scenic Byways named as Top Of The Rockies. The links you can find about Twin Lakes are here: http://www.coloradobyways.org http://www.byways.org/ If you happen to drive along this area or to be near this premises please do share your views... Just a little reminder, take as many photographs you can, leave footprints.... likewise what Leave No Trace upholds... "Take Only Photos, Leave Only Foot Prints"....

Near Leadville, Twin Lakes is a gorgeous area....which I will always associate with the Colorado essence: its aspens, crystal clear waters, and beautiful mountain vistas (Sorry Colorado, but you need to work on your cities). The Twin Lakes area itself has a few sanctioned campgrounds, but let me tell you from experience that off-roading it is by far the best way to get the prime spots. Naturally, if you are really into backpacking, this is an even better option. There are hidden waterfalls up here, as well as trails that are almost always deserted. That said, the lakes themselves can be boated on, but even in July the water at this altitude is damn cold. Leadville is near-by for services, as is the modest ski are Ski Cooper. Not the hardest peak in Colorado by any means, this still is one of the least crowded (except maybe for Cuchara). Great Colorado area that is not that far from Boulder, Denver, or even the Beach.

One of the great turns to Aspen. Nice place to stay for a while and enjoy the sight of water in this splendid land-locked state.

We had such an amazing time white water rafting with Liquid Descent! Our guide, Kayla, was…read morefantastic. She made us feel safe and comfortable from the very beginning, and gave clear instructions so we always knew what to do. She tailored our ride to how "spicy" we wanted to make it, so since it was our first time rafting, that made us feel great. The trip was the perfect level of excitement for us as beginners. It was fun, thrilling, and adventurous without ever feeling overwhelming. My sons, ages 10 and 13, had an absolute blast and want to plan another trip back. We even got to see a bald eagle along the river, it was phenomenal. The weather was perfect, and the whole experience was incredibly well organized. It's also just under two hours from Denver, making it a great day trip. We really appreciated the free parking, and they kept our car keys safely in the office while we were out on the river. We felt completely comfortable leaving everything else locked in our car. We couldn't have asked for a better first rafting experience. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone, especially families and first-time rafters. Definitely opt for the photo package too - the pictures we received were stunning and memorable. Huge thanks to Kayla and the Liquid Descent team!
