Considering its in the middle of a busy city and literally right next to a highway, this is a…read morepretty peaceful little "beach." A bit of sand, a splashy river, a couple baby trees providing a liiiittle bit of shade, a hot dog stand a short trot away, plenty of room for picnics... It's a tiny piece of the great outdoors -- and you can see Starbucks across the street. This space was pretty crowded on a Saturday. Lots of kiddos and dogs swimming in the river (which feels sooooo good). More families line the tiny shore than couples or river sports-doers. We brought a nice little picnic, towels, bad magazines so we could celebrity-stalk, and a portable speaker for some beachy weekend tunes. I get real lazy on any beach; kayaking and rafting aren't really for me, but you can totally get athletic if you want. The beach is very clean and small, the sand a bit rocky, and the water cold and shallow. I can see myself spending many a summer day here.. sunbathing (wear sunscreen!), picnicking, and people watching. The best!!

Like everywhere else in the surrounding areas your furry friend must be on leash. Usually the area is empty though so on hot days my dogs will swim a bit. I've seen city park employees at nearby Tennyson Knolls but never here. 1.4/5 miles around the reservoir depending on which sign you read. A few benches are available but shade is lacking depending on the time of year you visit. The only frequent visitors are Geese. Think Sloan's lake amounts of poop but in a more dense area. Yay nature! Other than that it's a fairly quiet area. Lowell and Tennyson are testing RTD trains so on occasion the crossing gates will go down and a train horn will sound.

This park is easily accessible by car or by the Clear Creek bike trail. At the time of my visit the park and all of the surrounding were immaculately maintained. There are many displays of art including two carved statues and intricate gravel designs by the front entrance. There is also a small playground and a paved path that encompasses the lake.

Maybe if Adams County could provide poop bag stations/more trash cans people would take better care. All of that dog poop eventually ends up going into the ponds and nearby creek...super gross to think about when I see people fishing in the ponds. :( please pick up after your dogs neighbors!

We had such an amazing time white water rafting with Liquid Descent! Our guide, Kayla, was…read morefantastic. She made us feel safe and comfortable from the very beginning, and gave clear instructions so we always knew what to do. She tailored our ride to how "spicy" we wanted to make it, so since it was our first time rafting, that made us feel great. The trip was the perfect level of excitement for us as beginners. It was fun, thrilling, and adventurous without ever feeling overwhelming. My sons, ages 10 and 13, had an absolute blast and want to plan another trip back. We even got to see a bald eagle along the river, it was phenomenal. The weather was perfect, and the whole experience was incredibly well organized. It's also just under two hours from Denver, making it a great day trip. We really appreciated the free parking, and they kept our car keys safely in the office while we were out on the river. We felt completely comfortable leaving everything else locked in our car. We couldn't have asked for a better first rafting experience. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone, especially families and first-time rafters. Definitely opt for the photo package too - the pictures we received were stunning and memorable.
