I've lived here almost all my life and had never been here, only driven by it. Came here to take fall pictures and it was packed with lots of people taking photos at around golden hour. The upper parking lot is very small! So be aware. I had to park in the adjacent neighborhood. There are lots of signs that say stay on the trail as they are trying to regrow the meadow. I definitely want to come back and explore more of the park. Looking at a map the trail is actually very long!! read more

Beautiful park off of Rockrimmon in Colorado Springs. There are two access points, which is confusing, but I usually go to the Vindicator road parking lot. There are lots of wonderful trails here with different terrain that are great for walks, runs or mountain biking! Beautiful views of Pikes Peak with wild sunflowers in the summer. There are clean Porta potties at the parking lot and benches throughout the trails. read more

Trail Series, Part 11 "No pain, no gain." That's what they say, right? Well if this is true, then by all accounts we had a GREAT day today!!! Our Review Team set out upon Ute Valley Park with 1/3 of us choosing to hike it while 2/3 of us choose to experience it via mountain bike. Located about 3 miles West of the 25 Freeway in North East Colorado Springs, Colorado, it offers numerous trails for your enjoyment. While we encountered only hikers, runners, and mountain bikers, it also welcomes equestrians. Many of the trails offer nice views of Blodgett Peak to the North and Pikes Peak to the South, and all of them are unpaved. Our mountain bikers covered more than 7 1/2 miles within the park, rarely covered the same ground on more than one occasion, and left numerous trail sections undiscovered. Important note: the required mountain bike skill and fitness levels are of an intermediate level. Uphill climbing is involved, downhill speeds can become significant (with at least one Black Diamond rated trail), and many course sections are of a pretty technical nature. Unfortunately, one of our Review Team Members took a pretty nasty spill near the end of our ride. Thankfully after receiving a medical evaluation he seems to have avoided any broken bones or a concussion. Whew! While there is typically at least a little risk in most things that we try, we hope that won't dissuade you from getting out into the open and experiencing this park through whatever means you feel most comfortable. I've lived here for a year but for whatever reason, didn't make it here sooner. The views are awesome from many spots. It is perfect for hiking and also mountain biking. I wouldn't recommend any beginners try to mountain bike here. There are a lot of rocks and some technical stretches. There would definitely be some hike a bike, if you ended up on the wrong path. We did see a rattlesnake the other evening (6/12/21 at ~8pm) on one of the trails down near the beginning of the trails closer to the lot. Beautiful sunsets. A good amount of foot and bike traffic. So listen for bikers bells. read more

I love Ute Valley! There are SO MANY trails so make sure to remember where you're coming from. It's a great getaway to walk or run and it's right next to neighborhoods so you're not too far out there. It's more walk than hike in most places so it's perfect for beginners. Highly recommend bringing a buddy or pets. They'll love it! read more

One of the first things I did when I became a Colorado native was refinance my Subie to buy a Colorado blue mountain bike. I wanted to shred the gnar. And what better place to shred than legendary Ute Valley? There's an old saying among Coloradans: "If it's not Ute Valley, it's poop alley." I'll never forget my first time at Ute Valley. It was a beautiful day and the stoke was at maximum. My buddy T-Dawg hucked off a massive booter at full speed and lost control! Thankfully an unsupervised off-leash dog just happened to be at the right spot to cushion his fall. Don't worry, both the dog and The Dawg were fine. read more

As you can tell, the dogs love this park!! Ute Valley is easily accessible and always great for a quick or long walk. Since there's so many little trails and loops you can take, this can turn into a half-day journey if you wanted! You can climb up onto the rocks, but the trails are also well maintained and easy to follow. Great views all around and reasonable for all ages to explore and enjoy. I do wish there were more trashcans so it would be easier to pick up after the dogs. I'm not sure about parking directly at the park because I have always walked from a nearby house since it is so close to neighborhoods familiar to me. read more

You can't really tell much about this park driving by. But once you hike a short way in, you find multiple trails to pick from. Upper trails provide a lot of sun. Lower trails are lined with trees. The further you hike in, you're descending into an unexpected retreat where you're surrounded by nothing but trees, trails and mountains. So pretty you'd never guess it's in the middle of a residential area. Be prepared to share trails with lots of cyclists and friendly dogs. Nearly everyone greets one another. Parking lot is tiny. I wish cyclists would park at the nearby school and preserve the limited parking lot spaces for hikers and families. read more

This place is pretty cool. I just moved here from Arizona and it's a nice change seeing actual green stuff. I saw lots of bunnies and thankfully no snakes. The paths are easy to follow, nothing too steep or rocky. I'll defiantly be coming here every weekend. read more

Awesome park on the northwest side of town. There are a lot of trails to run, walk, or bike on. The trails go from easy to very challenging. So if you are mountain biking, make sure you have your protective gear and watch out for walkers and their dogs. There are also a lot of mule deer in the area so if you bring your dogs, putting them on lease would be the best option. The scenery is awesome and a great place to get a little lost while exercising. You can also get good photos of pikes peak and will see families doing that while there. There is a small parking lot with port a potty's but if you need extra parking, you can park at the local middle school. Check it out. read more

Ute Valley Park is adjacent to my neighborhood. Literally a 5 minute walk to get in to the park. While I did not intend to be so close to the park, it was a very fortunate coincidence that I find myself here. I walk my dogs a few times a week through the park. There are a variety of trails to take. The scenery is beautiful and it is an easy hike through most of the park. A few steps in to the park and you don't even realize you are surrounded by the city. It is quiet and peaceful. The park is full of wildlife though including the occasional bear (which has tipped over my trashcan before) and other four legged critters. In the warm months, there are rattlesnakes here, though I have never seen one. Just take care and keep your dogs on a short leash if you suspect snakes are out. read more

UVP has always been one of my COS favorites over the years- diverse terrain and eco-systems, spacious, and great views. Lots of neat rock formations. The trails go over a combination of flat areas, rolling hills, and steep, scrambling climbs; although they criss-cross through the trees in some areas, there's not much shade overall. After snow or rain, many areas within the park have the tendency to get muddy. Also, I always hike/walk, but the park is mountain bike friendly. My only complaint is the north end's small parking lot off Vindicator Dr (it even has a port-a-potty). On nice days, vehicles are crammed into it. Hint: on busy weekends, just park at the middle school 700 ft to the east. Please LEASH YOUR DOGS and PICK UP AFTER THEM (I am very grateful to the responsible and courteous pet owners who realize this park belongs to everyone AND the natural wildlife). read more

Pretty cool park! We went hiking here and really loved all of the different trails that you can explore. Parking is kind of tight so make sure you get there early or early evening for a parking spot. Parking is only one way in and one way out. There is only one portable potty at the beginning for those of you who need to know there. There are all kinds of systems that you can go on including bike trails, horse trails and walking/hiking trails specifically (clearly marked). This park is also good to bring the dogs out. Our dogs had a blast being able to go up on the rock formations and run through the grass! This park is so huge and has so many systems that you can get lost. We used the Nike+ and gps to get us back to the beginning and we didn't even come back the same way. Check this park out! You won't regret it... read more

Love this park! Great place for wildlife/bird watching. Nicest after big storms when the pond is at its fullest. Nice trails (from super easy to medium). Great views from the crest. Beautiful rocks formations. I love that we have this great park in the heart of Rockrimmon! This park brings nature into a very developed area. It is a green lung for our neighborhood and nourishes many species of wildlife, from deer to birds, from rattlesnakes to bears. Am a fan! read more

I just returned from a glorious walk through this park and feel so refreshed. My only complaint would be that the people riding bikes here can be a little rude but that's not the park's fault. There are many different types of terrain through here and some nice views. Bring your own water, no agua options here so come prepared. read more

We love this hiking trail, it's close by and never really overcrowded. The trail is pretty easy and there is a little pond that always has a variety of birds so if bird watching and ornithology are your thing this is definitely the place to go. Hikingwise it's super close, easy, nice scenery and a pretty mellow place to go hiking, walking or biking after work or in the morning before work and school. read more

Fantastic park that we are fortunate to have nestled in Rockrimmon. Rarely crowded (although parking can be tough if you can't ride/walk in). Trails are well maintained and most everyone is nice/respectful whether you're walking or biking. read more

I love this park! I always seem to find new trails, no matter how often I come here. Lots of streams throughout, rock formations, lookouts, and a few benches. It is so cool to feel like you're in the middle of the wilderness in the middle of a city. The only downfall is that some bikers go quite fast and don't adhere to the yield to pedestrians rule. Have nearly been run over on a couple of curves, so be careful. It's also smart to keep your eyes open for rattlesnakes, mountain lions, bears, and other wildlife, especially on the smaller trials. read more
