Eh, not impressed, really. I mean wow they really do strive to keep it clean, but any campsite with a partial hookup has the freeway for a backyard. Not so good when U have a tent trailer. Now if U wanna ruff it more than we are able to, deeper in, there are a lot of great looking, large and beautiful camping spots. This makes me feel like it's a better campground for young families and younger groups who don't have anyone with mobility issues. Speaking of mobility issues, we usually camp at the ADA sites and we're kind of apalled by theirs! Quite far from the facilities, which the only path to is the semi rough roadway you drive on. Dangerous for a walker or wheelchair to traverse the length of road to the restroom and showers...which ARE roll-in, btw. My only issue with them is the hooks for Ur towel etc., are on the wall that gets sprayed with the water, instead of the wall near the door handle, which stays dry. Hard to have a dry towel that way! Sadly, the trailer pad and picnic table pad at this 'ADA' site has a 2 foot gap of rough ground between them, again making it difficult for a walker/wheelchair to navigate! Wtheck?? Additionally, the trailer pad has ruts, cracks and gullies in it that make even walking DANGEROUS, and near impossible for a walker or w/chr user. In the end, we will not be back, and have the unfortunate job of reporting this campsite to the feds to have it brought up to ADA standards, as it certainly does not meet them. I can't say much for this place. I knew it was close to freeway so the noise from traffic was expected. What wasn't expected was the sad condition of this state park. We just came from a beautiful Oregon State park so I was excited to book this place for a full week. Had medical appts in Portland so why not camp in between. We got here and our site was so muddy that your boot would get pulled off stepping outside. I was unsure of safety. One site had garbage under their trailer was spilling out. Now mind you people have hard times and what a great way to camp out but when you start piling "Garbage/alcohol " bottles all over (not just a few) the campsite, someone (host) is not doing his/her job. There was broken dishes behind the tree at our site. We wanted to to exploring but didn't feel safe leaving our site. We left after one night. read more

As all the reviews state, the noise from I5 is constant. If you can tune out the jake breaks, it's a nice park. The yurt was clean and comfortable, but bring a camping pad to put over the futon mattress if you have a bad back. Single occupancy bathrooms with hand soap were a pleasant surprise. River looked pretty calm, would be a nice place to kayak or canoe with the family. read more

This review is solely from a walking/hiking standpoint as we did not camp or picnic there. Extensive trail that runs along the river with nice views. The trail is not paved so if it has rained recently it will be muddy. The trail has several steep inclines going up bluffs then down to the river again, and over tree roots, rocks, etc. so it would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. There was also no handrails/fences on some of the steep bluff trail sections so keep that in mind if you are taking small children as it could be very dangerous if you aren't watching your step in some spots. There was a toilet facility near the parking area along with some picnic tables. A few folks were there fishing when we were there passing through. It is near the highway so you could hear the road traffic/cars from time to time. read more

The staff here are decent but the park itself is a disaster. Every dumpster in the park has been over full for the the 3 days we have been here. The primitive outhouse is absolutely disgusting, but regular bathrooms are fine. There's a couple holes in the spot your supposed to put tent in. There is a burn ban in effect not but fire pit & picnic table were both clean. If you're not in decent physical shape, these primitive sites probably are not for you. Fairly steep trail with several roots. Great water pressure for showers. 2 tokens for 6 minutes to shower & tokens are 2 for $1 (have to get in token machine next to front office). read more

Of all the state parks we have camped at in the area, this is by far the noisiest. We had site 10 and the freeway traffic from I-5 is so loud. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is not your place. The campsites are easy to navigate bigger rigs and there is plenty of room at each site. The bathrooms are very clean and the park host/Rangers keep the place looking very nice. There are several trails through the woods that are nicely maintained as well. We will likely camp here again because sometimes camping isn't all about peace and quiet but more of a change of scenery and now that we know to expect a lot of noise we won't have that disappointment next time. read more

If you like living and playing right on I-5 this is the place for you. All of the hookup sites have a beautiful highway view. If you are tenting or have a small trailer there are some nice sites but if you have a larger rig, don't come here unless you want to spend your time at a casino. The river swimming area is nice but right under the I-5 bridge. We won't be coming back. read more

Overall a nice camping spot, it has a river nearby that you can swim in and the bathrooms are fairly clean. The only downsides are the traffic noise since the freeway is nearby but it isn't bothersome for me. But there is a bridge that goes across the river which is quite loud. read more

Went camping here in mid July for two nights with my dad and godfather. Nice park, but our campsite was alongside the freeway so it was loud all night when trying to sleep, so I did not sleep very well at all. Close to a new Casino, Illiani, which was very nice and spacious. Close to Portland but never ventured down there. Also has a river that runs right by it. Fishing was tough as the ground was all muddy. Overall, just average. read more

It's the first time I've been camping since Memorial Weekend 2020. We wanted to find a state park with swimming that was within a reasonable distance to our home since it was the first time taking our 3 year old and 1 year old camping. I read the reviews and was a little concerned about the park being so close to the I-5 and it being very loud. I'm sure for the people that are at the campsites right next to the free at that's a problem. We were at campsite 57. It was on the backside of the park and the noise from the passing vehicles was minimal. I will say that this campsite specifically is on a serious slope. If you have young children (like we do) it isn't ideal, but it is doable. The river is great, and has lots of places where little humans can safely play in the water without it dropping off into deep water quickly. We will definitely come camping here again, will definitely not pick campsite 57 again. The last thing that I would like yo mention is how clean the campground and bathrooms are. Was searching for last-minute campsite for a Memorial Day weekend camping trip and Paradise Point came up. The state park is pretty neat. It's right on the Lewis River, and there are some decent, easy trails accessible from the camp sites. Also, the park is conveniently located just 15 minutes outside of Vancouver. My girlfriend and I left our tent (which was safe and untouched) and went into Portland and spent a day there. Sites are clean and include a picnic table and a fire pit. There are decent showers that cost 50 cents for 3 minutes of warm water (WATCH OUT they can get scalding hot!). The restrooms are average for any public park. The only complaint about the park would be its proximity to interstate 5. Half of the sites are pretty close to the freeway and while not deafening loud, it is certainly not quiet like most other campsite. Try to get one of the higher numbered sites farther from the freeway. We stayed in site 71, which was on the far side of the park away from the freeway and it wasn't too loud. Also, keep in mind there are plenty of families with children (who can get pretty noisy) at this park. read more

This park is like going to a homeless camp! We were there 3 nights and watched beat up trailers and cars move from space to space daily not sure if they were paying or not but definitely had a racket going. Parents & 3 Kids staying all day in a big yellow school bus with sheets on the windows. These trailers and cars were being used as full time homes living in a State Park! Dogs locked in trailers all day barking. I'm telling you this place is disgusting and felt unsafe! The beach is directly under I-5 bridge and while swimming it is so loud you cant even talk. We couldn't even hear each other around our campfire the traffic noise is so bad!! Shame on you Washington State for this park and the way you are letting anything go in it! read more

Honestly, this place should be shut down. We needed a place to stay as we had been evacuated due to fire potential at our house. We have a fifth wheel that we camp with frequently so we thought we'd go to a convenient location. This "campground " was horrendous. There was a person stumbling around (mind you, this was a Wednesday night at 9pm) clearly high. We found a site away from his tents and backed in. We saw car after car drive through the small campground. There was evidence of prostitution and drugs. We then packed up and decided to risk going back home rather than staying the night. We simply did not feel safe. read more

I live locally and hike the trail with the dog often. The trail is 1.7 miles and easy to do in an hour, but I've also taken it slow with kids and friends with stops along the way. The dirt trail is uneven and steep at times but not bad. I don't like to go after rain because it does get slippery in places. The variety of views along the trail is wonderful: River, trees, woods, and creek with water fall. The parking area is low elevation. The trail loop goes next to the East Fork of the Lewis River the goes up hill (about 350 feet of elevation climb total) past the waterfall and primitive tent camp sites to the top of the hill by the RV camping area. The last portion, about .5 mile, is walking down the road back to the parking area. I've also camped there during the summer and it was fine nothing spectacular, there are better state parks for a weekend of camping in my opinion. My kids love to swim under the bridge in the summer, but it gets crowded with city folks partying. Plus the I5 noise can be very distracting. There are better, more remote, places for floating and swimming on the Lewis River. In other reviews no one mentioned the disc golf course, which I personally haven't done, but have heard that's it's not a bad local course. read more

Some great photos of the river upstream from main picnic area on this site. Walking or kayaking upstream points you to an awesome swimming hole we call "the Rock" where you can climb and jump into a deep pool and lounge in the sun in the opposite bank on the East side of the river. It is public access on the East side of the river at PPSP from the bridge all the way to Jenny Creek. Ignore the keep out signs on the property across from the Rock. The new property owner is in denial that there is deeded public access all the way to the back of the floodplain and put these up a few months back. Someone should set them straight as public access means just that and it is a joy for swimmers and kayakers alike to stop and soak in some rays. Enjoy this great park and the access to the East Fork all the way up past LaCenter to down to the Columbia or further as this is part of what is called the County's Water Trail for Kayakers that goes all the way from LaCenter to Vancouver Lake for those who are up for it. Frisbee course is nice. Fishing not so much unless you go down to the mouth where the East Fork meets the North Fork of the Lewis. This is one of the only Washington west side rivers that has no dam, so the river is warm and low in the summer and runs backward when the tide is coming in. Wildlife is amazing on the river and this place has it's share of bears along with the other critters, waterfowl and birds of prey that utilize the proximity and natural connection of the East fork of the Lewis to the Ridgefield and Sauie Island Wildlife refuges. read more

We were in the rv portion, closest to the highway but it was just background noise at night and not much worse during the day. The tenting area and walk in areas are both quieter. Lovely walks to the river, big open areas for badminton or frisbee or ??? (bring your own gear). read more

It's a cool small State Park in the LC. Clean bathrooms and showers. Nice staff. We had a one day with full hook ups but had to move to a dry camp. Noticed three reserved full hook up sites where folks didn't show so that kind of was upsetting. I like electricity. Shower heads should be replaced. They're like decontamination showers. I think I left some skin behind. Better than a lot of state parks we have stayed at. read more

I have been going to Paradise Point state park for many years now. As a local resident, I can't speak to the camping, but the paths, scenery, and swimming are really incredible. In the summer, the beaches are full of people, and families enjoying the water. But it's the many paths through the forests, fields, and river bed that I always go for. It's a great way to spend an afternoon! read more

The reviews on this park are rough. However, I think it's a nice place. It's close to the interstate, so yes you can hear cars go by. However, it is a very clean park. There is a lot of room on the camp sites. We stayed in a yurt and it was super nice. The staff kept the camp much cleaner than other state parks I have been too. The bathrooms were clean. The walk to the river is along walk but you can also drive there. The park also has disc golf. It was a nice little get away. The staff was friendly and the park was clean. If you don't mind walking around and being close to the interstate than its not a bad place to camp. We stayed Memorial Day weekend and it wasn't loud or out of control. I didn't have the experience of the people below. read more

Booked a last minute Saturday reservation online (on Friday) before what was predicted to be a cold, rainy weekend. I managed to get the very last open site, bad weather predictions and all! Sooo first off, while the website is easy to navigate and pretty user friendly, there is an $8.00 charge for booking online. The only way to avoid this is to take a chance and try to snag an open spot upon arrival. Here is where I will add that the camp host who helped me check in, made it painfully clear that no one ever gets in on a weekend. Ever ever never. So pay the 8 bucks and suck it up. I think I'm gonna try for a weekday camp next time, save a few dollars... I ended up with site #33. It looked like a pretty lame spot on the map, I expected a flat, open area right beside the freeway, with horns honking and traffic whizzing by...but it was not like that at all. I have only ever camped up in the beautiful mountains of WA (Cougar, Stevenson, etc.) so I came in pretty jaded to begin with but in all honesty, the site was kinda cool. We had plenty of trees to rig up our tarps and lay out our tents. The kids had room to run and play, swing in trees, get stung by yellow jackets (yes, it really happened btw), y'know, all the fun stuff. Lots of families were there, our kids made friends with our neighbors so that was really cool. No crazy loud music or fighting, not a lot of partying going on period. I felt safe... Oh, and our site was directly across the way from the bathroom. Again a very nice surprise. It was clean which is all that matters to me. I noticed there is a shower for which you could pay 50 cents per 2 mins of hot water. We did not use them tho so Im not sure how well they function. We liked it, will probably go back in the off season or on a weekday to avoid what we consider a higher priced camping rate. read more

While the day use area is nice, the camping area looks more like a homeless camp. This state park is directly off I-5 which makes in convenient for 1 night stays when we travel up and down I-5. Unfortunately, lots of people have also figured out that they can stay with their broken down motorhomes for very little money. We pulled in prior to May 15, which means no reservations are possible; it's first come, first serve only. We arrived at noon, all but 3 of the sites with power and water were already occupied. The remaining 3 were blocked off with cones. There was no ranger around to tell us what that meant and we were unable to reach anyone by phone. We could have stayed in a site with no service, but between the prior reviews and what we were seeing, we decided to move on. Really too bad that our state parks have come to this. read more

This park has very well maintained campgrounds, there are shaded and sunny spots to choose from. Unfortunately it is right next to the highway and the river access is under the I-5 bridge. We couldn't hear any cars while we were sleeping but if you want to hangout by the river it is very noisy and you can not hear the person next to you talking.. read more

First thing you need to know about the park is that it is right off the freeway. We stayed there for a long weekend in February. If you're driving a motorhome or trailer setup that isn't very maneuverable this is great because it is so close to the freeway. The downside is the noise. We camped in our motorhome and we were able to hear the freeway inside the RV but it wasn't really bad. If you're looking for the quiet woods camping experience that's not here, at least not in the hookup loop. However it is clean and at least at that time of the year was quiet beyond the freeway noise. Pros: -Hook-ups are 50 - 30 - 20 for electrical, water is also at each site. -Picnic table and fire rings at site. -Part of the campground in on a slope but the parking pads at least in site 8 is -reasonably level. -Host is friendly and helpful. Neutral: -I had no interaction with the rangers so I can't comment. Cons: -Some of the sites in the flatter area were quite wet, to almost being swampy. -Freeway noise could be an issue. -Dump station is built at an odd angle so it is a little hard to get into with a large vehicle but it is doable. -The fresh water system for rinsing out your RV tank was leaking badly. The camp sites are nice, but placed a little close together. This time of year it was fine as there were only a handful of other folks there, but in the summer I would be a little closer to my neighbors than I would like. The day use area is right under the freeway, but has good access to the water, a nice large open grassy area and restroom. We had no problem driving the RV down to the day use area and turning it around, even with the car and tow dolly. All and all we very much enjoyed our time here and would definitely return in the future. We had no issues with the other campers, everyone seemed normal and friendly that we interacted with. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time we were there. Also for your information the park and campground were initially built before I-5 was built, so it's not the parks fault the freeway is there, and really in an RV we thought the noise wasn't all that bad. read more

Your experience may be different depending on where in the park you camp, but ours was not great. We took a tent campsite with water and electric, it was about $30. A little expensive but not unreasonable. I asked to be close to the bathroom. Our site was extremely small and close to neighbors, although the campsite was not full so we didn't mind. Bathrooms were ok, cold running water for free only, showers were $.50 for 3 minutes. The real issues I had were 1) the bathroom had a very bright light on all night pointing directly into our tent and at all of the campsites nearby and 2) we were not 100 feet from a major highway. The sounds of traffic all night coupled with the obnoxious light did not make for good sleeping in a tent. It is close to Portland, I'm not sure there's anything much closer but we chose to move to a different campsite farther from the city rather than stay here for the full three nights we were planning. I have no idea why anyone would allow a state park to be located here. Long story short: plan better, don't stay here. read more

We had a horrible experience at Paradise Point State Park. This is not a safe place to stay at. It has a homeless and drug problem that is rampant through the park. People living in vehicles, junk trailers everywhere, over flowing trash bin by the bathroom and Homeless people showering in the showers and Smoking in the restroom. it does not have a safe feel to it at all. We had to call the police at three in the morning due to our neighbors next to us who were drugged out and having a domestic dispute. We feared for our safety. Four police vehicles showed up to talk to the people who were still yelling and cussing at each other at three AM. Mind you these people had five cars and multiple tents in one site that overflowed into out site. Soon after the police talked to the people we packed our RV as quick as possible and left with nowhere to go, but a grocery store parking lot until we made other plans for the rest of the week. read more

I will start by saying if I could give zero stars, I would. You are right on the freeway. The sites are EXTREMELY close together. As in your neighbor's tent is less than 10 feet away. The bathrooms were hosed down around 1 and then are quickly destroyed by throngs of unaccompanied children. I literally witnessed a 3 year old rinsing her own bottle in a public bathroom with no adult anywhere in sight. The children run or ride bikes screaming through trails in between every campsite. I already mentioned how close the sites are. It felt like we paid $30/night to babysit while the parents of those children hid somewhere to escape their screaming rudeness. I use the term 'parent' loosely here. If that wasn't enough to drive my poor dogs insane then there was also the fun of having a drunk run around in his socks and underwear screaming at his wife to 'f off' at random intervals but obviously more explicitly. What fun. There is a man that rides around on an off road golf cart that I guess is supposed to keep an eye out but he clearly doesn't do anything except disturb the people with how obnoxiously loud his cart is. He drives by every couple of hours so just be prepared for absolutely NO PEACE. On our second night, an rv or the septic system was clearly over full as we were graced with the glorious smell of shit all night and all of the next day while we packed. All the while the children screamed around us and taunted our dogs. All in all, this place is disgraceful and should be shut down if they can't keep the feces or children in check. You are better off sleeping in your car in the walmart parking lot. This is NOT AT ALL to be considered camping or any kind of getaway. The pictures on this site must be a joke. read more

While the campground itself seemed decent upon driving in, my friend and I were very distraught when we woke to sounds of someone slowly walking around our yurt and peeking in. What was equally as disturbing, is that the 911 dispatcher nor my friend could get in contact with the park ranger. I felt that our safety was jeopardized at this campground. Maybe its proximity to interstate has something to do with the safety of this campground. We are definitely traumatized after our stay here. I'm thankful we were near a city and had cell service to get in touch with the police, who escorted us to our car before we headed to a safe hotel. read more

Bathrooms are single 1 toilet 1 sink. 2 on each side of building. Showers are single. Big roomed. 2 heads 1 high 1 low for children or handicapped. My son and I were able to shower together. Cost .50 per 3 minutes. Staff was friendly and accommodating constantly working on the grounds surrounding the park. read more

I don't understand why they would build a state park right next to I-5 . I could not sleep because of the noise from the freeway.

Very convenient location. I experienced the staff to be friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are dingy and there is no place to "put your stuff" while you are brushing your teeth or washing your face other than on the side of the wet sink. They need some shelves or hooks in the bathrooms for this. Traffic noise was loud. Earplugs worked for me to drown it out. I was tenting at site #57 which had a level spot for a 2-man tent. There were only two other parties camping nearby, so the site felt private. I'd recommend the site - it was large and comfortable and had a nice ray of sunlight coming through in the morning. It had easy access to the bathrooms. Sites 61 and 52 also seemed good choices if you are tenting with a small tent. All are completely under the trees. I also checked out the walk-in sites and site #79 seemed very private, not sure about a level tent pad. The water access area seems popular with small boaters, etc. It's not very romantic. There is some sand for kids if you can stand the noise of the freeway. read more

My wife and I reserved a water/electrical site for one night to camp with our grand kids this past weekend. We were very disappointed with the lack of quality and amenities for this park. It is located right next to I-5 and the hook-up sites are on the freeway side of the park. Needless to say it was very noisy from freeway traffic at all hours. This park is not child friendly as it is hilly and there are no play structures. The day-use area was located down by the Lewis River and was very primitive...primarily dirt and gravel, only two picnic tables, and no designated swimming/wading area. I have to think that the park in general and especially the day-use area primarily caters to fishermen and kayakers. And despite the lack quality of this park, we were charged the premium rate of $40/night. We have stayed in much, much nicer Washington State parks for less. read more
