From what I read in the local paper, Geoff Wysong was charged with theft of services. I don't know exactly what that entails but just read the other reviews and after my experience with him I have an idea. His guys were pretty cool and even tried to warn me. He seems like the kind of guy who would tell you one thing and come back later to drop the bad news that you owe him double the amount because of some nonsense reason he did not mention in the previous agreement. read more

I've had two moves with Abbey in the last 7 months and they're good people working hard and they care about your things and your move.

Wow, watch out for these guys. They moved my furniture as promised. I made sure to have drinks and snacks available to them while they moved my furniture into my home. No problems at all, that is until they were done and Geoff tried to price gouge me, telling me that I had to pay him an additional $400 (!!!) for him to travel 1 hour to my home and back. Although I had no record of him ever saying that (I would never had hired him in the first place had he ever said that!) and refused to pay. There was also another $200 on top of that he wanted to charge me, without any explanation. When I refused, he said he wanted to talk to my husband about it! I have never encountered anyone like Geoff before and hope that I never do again. Ave yourself some aggravation and DO NOT USE THEM! read more

Gave them a call, asked them if they have movers available within the hour, he just laughed and said " well it's the middle of the night" but yet it's barely 5:43pm, their help says they are open 24/7. My criteria: Prompt, courteous service. Considerate and careful. These guys are non stop. Abbey Movers is all of this and more. I have used their services 4 times now and feel confident that when I get to my destination everything will arrive safely with nothing broken. I cannot say enough good things about them. We just did a big move with Geoffery and Mike of Abbey Movers, and I have to say they couldn't have been better. Full disclosure. We're not easy people. My mom is 86 and she was moving out of a farmhouse near Walton NY she purchased with her late husband as he was dying. There's a lot of emotion tied up in this place. Her late husband (my step father) was buried there. And my mom held onto the place way too long because it was so meaningful to her as was everything in it. I was supposed to be "the man" helping her through this, flew in from LA to help the move. But I threw my back out and was immobilized in NYC. Geoffery of Abbey Movers and his crew came to her farm and packed the house, treating my nearly blind, often demanding mother with such kindness and deference it was truly like they were heaven sent. Today they worked a 12 hour day or more moving everything into the apartment in NYC, even though there were all manner of difficulties and improvisations along the way, which they dealt with without complaint. By the time it was over, we had gone so far over our budget - not by any fault of theirs - that we were unable to tip them very much, but they remained cheerful to the end. This move was a big deal for us, and we got slammed with unexpected difficulties. They were amazing from start to finish. Total pros. Recommend highly. Don't know what the deal is with the negative review. Geoffery has lots of letters from customers that all agree with my experience. Awesome. Ask for those. read more

In August 2013 I just moved across town. They were kind, helpful, and excellent to work with.

Moved from Oneonta to NC. Abbey movers was a terrible experience. Unprofessional is the best adjective to describe it. They were careless with our belongings, increased the price by $2000 after the truck was packed stating they were losing money on the move and left our new home in complete disarray. This tactic is illegal. After being advised by the DOT and my attorney to pay up then go after them, my belongings arrived on time. By the end of the day they were only interested in leaving, so left us with beds to put together, etc. I did threaten litigation and did receive a reimbursement for the amount overcharged as per the DOT. If you use them get a contract with a fixed price and an inventory, we were missing quite a few things. Good luck. p.s. in response to Abbey's denial - they were well aware that the driveway might be a problem and told us they would be able to work with that. When they told me of the price increase it was never related to the driveway issue, just that he was going to lose money on the move. The bottom line is Abbey should not have increased the price arbitrarily after the shipment was loaded and the increase amount was well over DOT rules. I asked for and received a reimbursement for $800, not because I threatened Abbey but because Abbey did not want to be reported to the DOT. In keeping with our experience of Mr. Wysong, he blames everyone else for the issue instead of being an adult and taking personal responsibility for his error. Just moved with Geoff and his son from Brooklyn to Upstate NYS. As I was rushed to find someone, I didn't know how it would go. They came recommended by way of my storage unit owner, as a family run, fully insured and professional. I caught them en route to NY from GA on their way back from a big move and they jumped in. At first Geoff's quirky and easy going style made me nervous, as I'm a type A person who likes contracts etc, but I made an excellent choice in hiring them. Thieves! Stole items from me, Packed items so that everything was scratched and broken. Threw my items all over the place before packing it! Made me cry on a stressful day for no reason whatsoever. I asked the day before if I needed to buy packing supplies and was ASSured by Asshole Geoff Wysong that they would be providing All Packing Supplies needed and that I didn't need to get Anything. Mind you, I was at the store to purchase any supplies that would have been needed for my move so that's why I called Geoff Wysong of Abbey Movers to ask about the supplies. Well the next day I inquired about his fees (he gets Pissed at me for inquiring about how much this was going to cost me and NEVER Answered me about his fees!) I asked him about "aren't we going to wrap the furniture before we put it on the truck" as he HAD No Intention of Protecting my furniture whatsoever. Then he proceeds to YELL At Me About the wrapping furniture supplies - "Well you have a car don't you? GO TO THE STORE AND GET THEM!!" Then he starts THREATENING ME (after he has some of my items on his Garbage, dirty truck!!) "I'll Just Leave Then" Of course, at this point with me working on no sleep because he threatened me the night before with "you know we get paid by the hour, right?" Well, being a broke widow and can't afford any more outlay of funds, I stayed up all night trying to pack as much as I could because I didn't have any more money to pay him (and he still didn't even tell me How Much He Charges per hour), I started BALLING MY EYES OUT. I don't need this treatment from anyone!! He didn't even have any helpers with him so I had to be the "helper". I'm not paying you so that I have to be your "helper". I'm too old for that! He broke up my furniture and left wood chips and garbage on the floor and didn't even clean it up. Asshole Geoff Wysong made the Mess and He Should Clean it up. I didn't make YOUR Mess you Friggin' PIG!! He just gave me an Extremely Difficult Time at a time when I didn't need it. Then the next day because I was in a bind I had to call him back to do more. Well his son, Simon and helper weren't very nice either - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. They were throwing my items all over the place, packed my items so poorly that they were all scratched and broken by the time they reached me. Some items of mine were also Stolen By Them as I have looked all over and Cannot Find Several of my items that were supposedly packed! Don't Trust Abbey Movers One Bit as They are THIEVES AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT PEOPLE. They just want their money and will REFUSE to Give You a Refund if you have ANY Issues with their so-called professionalism! I don't call making an old women cry very professional! Update: Now AssHole is Calling me via a Private Number (real mature), Texting Me and Threatening Me due to my Honest Review of their Garbage that they call work - Just Proving My Point that You are NOT a Professional, but a BIG BULLY!! Don't you have anything better to do - like work!!?? than picking on a defenseless little old lady - SHAME ON YOU!! I gather they don't have any Real Customers as Geoffrey Wysong was trying to use his son, Simon G. to Post a fraudulent positive review of their company - LOL - sad state of affairs over there what no real customers? First of all, if you're not a Person of a Preferred Color don't expect to get a Clean Truck to get your items transported as they used a Filthy truck to throw my Brand New Items UNWRAPPED in to which were totally destroyed. All of my other furniture and new items which were UNWRAPPED were also Destroyed and Broken by Geoffrey Wysong, his son and helper. Geoffrey Wysong got very defensive, nasty and I feared for my safety when I mentioned it to him as to Why he wasn't wrapping my items - "My truck isn't filthy." Well I guess Geoffrey Wysong needs glasses because that truck was Truly A Filthy Mess and My new Furniture and new items Paid the Ultimate Price = DEATH!! Not that Geoffrey Wysong even tried to remedy the situation whatsoever. All Geffrey Wysong and his son, Simon G. tried to do was Post Fraudulent Pictures of a clean truck (which was never used for my move), pictures of Geoffrey Wysong himself in a red shirt rolling up carpeting pretending to be a customer (that was too funny, thanks for the laugh!) and also Pretending that they do door to door service with that picture of a truck backed up to someone's home (more than likely his own home, again thanks for the laugh!!). I won't offer any opinions here but I will relate my experience with Abbey Movers. I employed Abbey Movers to move my larger furniture pieces and bedroom items from NY to VA. Geoff the owner met me at my ex-home and I showed him what I wanted moved and we agreed on a price. He took no notes or marked anything. He agreed to pick the items up a few days later and deliver them the following Saturday in VA. I would be in VA and not there for the load up so I placed the items in separate piles from the items that were not being moved all of which were in boxes. In the barn I was only moving furniture which I showed him. All pieces were in plain sight and part of a matched set. As a precaution because he did not write anything down I made a list of each item being moved and its location and left it with my family to give to him when he arrived to load. Off to VA I went. A few days later and loading day arrived and I received a call from Geoff saying he did not have enough room in the truck and had to leave a few items behind. These items consisted of my mattress and my large wall unit for my A/V gear. He explained that he would be happy to deliver the missing items in another month. I was quite distressed at this development and after some thought I finally said to just put everything back where he found it and I would make alternate arrangements. He then stated that this was upsetting to him because he would have to load "all those heavy boxes of books and stuff back in the barn". I was surprised to hear this from him and I expressed that I only had five boxes in the entire inventory. I asked if he looked at the list I provided for him and he said he did not. At least that explained why he did not have enough room in the truck. After a few more discussions he said he would put the unwanted boxes back and bring the bed and other items as he now would have room for them. I agreed to let him continue. As a side note, my mom also complained to me that Geoff showed up with his dog and brought it into the house uninvited. She has a cat. The next day was loading day number two and I received another call asking if I knew what was in the boxes I wanted him to bring because the boxes were now all mixed together and he could not tell which was which. As I had packed these boxes in California almost 10 months ago I could not remember exactly what was in each one so he opened them and we decided based on what was visible on the top. Everything was now loaded and I would just hope for the best. Later that evening I received an email stating that he would now arrive the day before I had requested late in the evening and would that be acceptable. He also asked if he could spend the night at my new residence as it would save him money on a hotel. I said no to both requests and stated he could stay at a nearby inexpensive hotel a couple of miles away and deliver my items the next morning as I requested. He agreed and apologized for asking. In the apology response email he stated that he would be coming by himself and asked if I would assist him in unloading the truck and bringing the items inside to my second floor residence. Again I declined and said if I wanted to do the work myself I could have gotten my own truck and assistance and not hired him in the first place. Again he apologized and said he would hire local help on his arrival. He arrived on the appointed day and time and another local gentleman showed up to assist him. The items were unloaded without incident. When I asked for a receipt he said he would send one to me and asked if he could email it. I said that would suffice. He had also asked to borrow a tape measure to measure a door opening which I provided. After he left I realized that my tape measure was gone as well as a moving blanket I had the wall unit wrapped in. There were also big scratches on a cherry chest where something had obviously been vibrating on its top during the long trip. He offered to ship me the tape measure and he did return the moving blanket back to the barn. It is now six days later and I do not have a receipt which I need to get reimbursement from my employer. He has informed me that his bookkeeper normally handles this function and she has quit. He wanted to fax it to me but I do not have a fax machine or even a land line. He assures me he will scan it and email it to me in the morning. I am again distressed as I paid $2500 out of pocket and I will have to wait another 30 days for reimbursement if I do not submit it by to my employer tomorrow morning.
