Great trainers. Kool atmosphere & they have a lot of equipment for you to work out on. Small but friendly if you're not into those big gyms this is the place to go to get your training done. Surround by stores & the bus stops across the street on both sides. Good location as well. I had a trainer there named Mac & he was the best for Me. Honestly, out of all the (Non YMCA) gyms I've been to in NJ, this is probably my favorite. I've been to A LOT of gyms in Union County and the atmosphere here is perfect. I mean, I did a one week trial and experienced enough to make this claim. I like the YMCA though because of the no commitment contracts they have. If this gym had that, I probably would have joined. This gym is perfect for you if you wanna walk in and grab a machine without ZERO wait. The music is on point and I usually always blast my headphones when I go to a gym. Not here. You have to like dubstep and alternative/indie rock music though to share my stance on the matter. The treadmills have DVD players, so if you're like me, you can pop in (500) Days of Summer while you do a 5k or watch a skate video while you rock a 13.0 incline at 5mph. There's a billion channels if you'd rather watch NHL or Buck Wild instead. They have a juice bar with a ton of options and a studio for classes. It's also worth mentioning that you can tell whoever sits at the front desk works out, no matter whose on duty. Which is pretty cool...it's not some dude whose never lifted up a weight before. But yeah folks, if you wanna go to a nice and quiet spot to workout at any hour of the day and not be surrounded by meat heads, this is it. read more

So I signed up for 16 week bootcamp. The classes were good except certain instructors would play explicit music. So occasionally while working out I'd here "You're a F*king hoe, I love it" by the amazing Kanye West. Best music to play during a class full of women (very sarcastic). Also, after the classes, they never cleaned the mats after each session so you get a sweaty mat. They also don't have disinfective wipes so you can do it yourself. Anyways I was not able to continue to do the classes due to certain circumstances and we'll the gym doesn't charge you for the boot camp, it's a third party account so to cancel you have to have 100% met the requirements of attendance, if not you get locked into a 1yr contract at $69 a month. Crazy thing is no one ever called to check up on or follow up with me. But they sure called me a lot to sign up. When you sign the contract, READ IT because they won't tell you that if you don't meet the attendance requirement that you can't get out of the contract unless you buy it out which is about $200! Unfortunately they choose to work with this 3rd party host but don't mention everything up front. And since unfortunately they hype you so much, you just sign away with out realizing all the details. The person that signed me was motivational until you sign after that, so anti-social wouldn't even say hi. One of the teachers and the lady at the desk was nice but that whole fitcamp thing to me is a scam. And I will not be coming back read more

This place is outdated and overpriced. If you want a real gym Powerhouse linden is not far from this place and it's a brand new gym with much more equipment and cheaper plans. They claim to be customer oriented but offered little help when I asked for it. read more

This gym suits my needs perfectly. It's very convent for me, the people who workout at this gym are all very honest, friendly and helpful. The staff is great, the owner is almost always on premises. Even when the gym is busy you can still get on the equipment you want to use. This is not a posh gym like "Life time fitness" which I was a member but frankly I like Paragon better in a lot of ways. Naturally Paragon doesn't offer the amenities you would get at an Equinox or Lifetime but as far as a solid local gym to get in your workout in then get out Paragon is the gym for me. If price is a primary consideration you can't beat the rates, they charge about 1/5 the price of Lifetime per month. read more

Whenever I can handle going to a gym again, this will be my first choice. It's small compared to newer places, but I felt way more comfortable here when I was working out off and on, than I did the five seconds I tried out somewhere else. Front desk staff was helpful, accommodating, and real! I miss them. Bigger and newer.. does not necessarily mean better, when it comes to comfort and customer loyalty (And Anywho...this gym is actually plenty big enough, they have an upstairs and downstairs area options for working out, downstairs has classes and things like that, from what I remember). read more

I joined this gym because they offered the Boot Camp. I was initially so excited and signed right up. They stated they were looking for 45 people for the Boot Camp. They eventually had 100's. When you could not get a spot in the class the receptionist told me do not worry, they will all drop out in about a week. Sadly, she was correct. But they most certainly continued to receive their money. This gym Boot Camp was one big scam in my opinion. 1. The gym is indeed filthy, the weights are black from dirt I had to bring in workout gloves and Clorox wipes to touch them. 2. You join by the national recovery center which makes it almost impossible to quit even if you're injured like I was due to the fact that you do not get a warm up before the weights. I have provided Doctors records as required to cancel and they are still trying to bill me nearly nine months later. 3. The Zumba classes are good and you can participate without joining the gym for $5.00 although, they were packed to beyond capacity. Many people were rude and jumped in front of you and some even brought their children. 6. No warm up before weight training which is how I was injured. My knees have never returned to normal, physical therapy for three months and still they hurt. 7. The boot camp is advertised for 45 people but they get hundreds. They collect so much money during this time period and not one repair or clean-up was performed. Not one wipe but they still collect their money. It is very expensive for such a low quality dirty gym. 8. I attempted to write my opinion on the Facebook post advertising the Boot Camp but it keeps being deleted and now I have been blocked. I even attempted to write to the Better Business Bureau and I cannot because the company has to state that you are a member and apparently, they are aware of my dismay and have not verified me as a member. This is a great place all the other gyms around have become a waste for instance powerhouse is always packed and over priced so I left that and tried planet fitness which at first was great price was great but then it just got over populated jaja and plus they would have pizza day and bagel day I don't even think they should even call it a gym if your going to be stuffing your mouth while your on the treadmill jaja that why I love the paragon great staff and the right price ..... read more

I unfortunately joined the Paragon Athletic Club because of an advertisement that was offered. The memberships are more costly than Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, and a host of other gyms that offer more services. The hours of operation are limited and the cost for a yearly membership is $500+. Never again will I sign up for a membership here and I would recommend family and friends to explore your options with other gyms that will offer more. I would definitely travel a further distance to work out in a gym that has flexibility with their hours and a bigger space for their equipment. read more

Paragon has been the best thing since i moved to Linden. Yeah they are not the cheapest gym around but you get what you pay for. It is always clean and no waiting for any machines or treadmills. The staff is super freindly and always willing to help. read more
