Whenever I find myself in Union County, more often than not you will find me at Paragon Tap + Table! I called in for a big party, and they did an excellent job with the table-setting & location. Secondly, the food: Their apps are absolute winners. Our table got the Bavarian Soft Pretzel ($12) and the 12-piece wings ($22). Both came out hot and full-of-flavor! Both were excellent with a cold beer. For my main, I actually got a special which was not on their main menu. It was a Fajita Burger served with (you guessed it...) fajita fries. I added jalapenos for an extra kick. It was very good, but the buns are quite thick, so I actually just ate it with the bottom bun intact. The burger patty itself is quite thick which I enjoyed in this current smash-burger phase our world is currently in. Don't sleep on a pub burger. For dessert, it was one of our friends birthday, and as you can see --- they decorated it nicely! Not "they", sorry, Sara - our waitress - did! Never been here but decided to come out of curiosity. Venue is spacious and provides a nice bar area and family style seating. Also there was a private room available too. We ordered a few things for the evening Brisket Fries - delicious smoke flavor on the thinly sliced cuts of meat over top cheese fries. SO DAMN DELICIOUS! Nacho - I don't think I gave this a fair chance because the brisket fries were good and hearty lol. But the nachos offered a nice light crunch texture which is needed. Wings - ordered 12 wings with split sauce. Whiskey Chipotle & Nashville Hot Dry Rub. Absolutely delicious perfect coating of sauce and the seasoning does not overpower anything. **Also I always give big props when restaurants give regular sized wings and not those smaller pieces. ** Surf And Turf Tacos- also very delicious and came with side of rice. Perfectly balanced and they didn't just fall apart. Beer Flight- I don't recall all of the names but they were great especially that seasonal beer that had warm notes of spice. Our hostess Zizi was also great and attentive. Paragon Tap & Table Review Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. The food was extremely basic and lacked the flavor you'd expect from a gastropub. The wedge salad arrived with wilted lettuce, which immediately raised concerns about freshness. Even small details felt overlooked, including being offered individual bottled water for the table instead of standard table service. The service itself was forgettable, with little attention to the overall dining experience. There are too many great restaurants in the area to justify another visit. One of my favorite spots to eat, both for dining and just cocktails. The restaurant is divided into two rooms, I prefer the bar side which also offers high top booths. But the other side is nice, and personal. Drinks are top notch, literally anything on the cocktail list is fire. Food is too good, the spicy duck quesadilla is insane, the tuna tartar is fabulous, short rib grilled cheese is alway a go to, and get the crispy Brussels sprouts for sure. Visited some friends recently who took us to eat dinner at Paragon Tap & Grill. Before going, they claimed Paragon was a great place to get food. From the outside, it didn't look like anything special or a place to rave about but I quickly learned why it was all the talk with them. Since it was a Saturday night, they had a nice crowd and the place itself had a feel of both a sports bar and a brew pub. The one side was more of a sports bar type of feel (or setup) and the other half had more of a brew pub type of feel. After looking at the menu, I decided to go with the healthier choice so I ordered the Drunken Parm Sandwich. I wish I took a picture of the sandwich when it came out because it looked very good and like it was made fresh. Almost immediately, the server came over to me to let me know that they made me real chicken rather than the vegetarian chicken and said she would take it back for the vegetarian chicken. I opted to keep it since I knew there was a chance it would probably get thrown out. I took one bite of the sandwich and I have to say, it was one of the BEST chicken parm sandwiches I've ever had. It was piping hot and tasted fresh. From the chicken, to the sauce, to the bun, it all tasted fresh and practically melted in my mouth. It was a little on the salty side but aside from that, it was made to perfection. To top the night, as we were paying the bill, our server Maya (who was very friendly and tentative during our visit) handed me a take out container with the veggie chicken parm sandwich in it AND the general manager Greg came over to me to apologize for the mistake and said the veggie chicken parm was on the house. It's very rare for me that this happens. I wish I lived closer to Paragon so I can go back more often but believe me, I'll be back there for drinks and dinner next time I'm in the area. My fiancée and I went here with our dog . Place was super cute and inviting . Our waitress MAYA, was perfect with everything we asked for between ourselves and our dog . As well as CRAIG the manager, introduced himself and noticed that we were the ones that called and asked if they allow dogs. They had a doggie menu and for our picky one it was perfect , we just ordered APPS , definitely over ordered but what we got was great, garlic parm wings, hot honey pepperoni pizza, truffle fries, burrata and the pork lettuce wraps. A creative gastropub tucked at the back of a strip mall with ample parking - very close to the Garden State Parkway. Nice bar area with high top seating, next to a more intimate dining room area. Excellent appetizers (wings and Buffalo chicken dip our favorites), great sandwiches and entrees. Wide variety of craft beers, huge selection of spirits and creative cocktails. Service is always fast and friendly. They often have live music, which was the case on the Friday we were there. Paragon is a little gem located near a Target of all places. Didn't walk in with much expectations but everything from service to food was top notch. Filet was delicious and cooked perfectly. Went to Paragon Tap & Table for my birthday dinner. We requested a table outside and was asked if we wanted to sit at the only table available, right next to the live music. We really appreciated being asked. We opted for inside table. Service was quick. Our waitress was friendly and when asked, provided her favorite menu suggestions. We had the calamari appetizer, surf and turf taco (? - it was 2 tacos), pan seared chicken and shrimp, and an oatmeal cookie dessert with vanilla creme. Calamari was ok; a bit greasy. Pan seared dinner was tasty. Comes with Brussel sprouts which were shredded into the dish, not whole or half pieces. For the tacos, I had a choice of flour or corn, which was very nice. Came with rice and beans, which were flavorful, but barely warm. Dessert was nicely presented, yet the vanilla 'creme' was a wad of icing and the garnish of three tiny cookies which tasted stale. When our waitress checked on us and we advised of the rice, she said, "I'll tell the kitchen", but did not offer to heat up or replace. When the manager came by before dessert, we advised on the positives and about the rice. He apologized and said, "Wait right here. I have something for you guys." Then he never came back. For a $100 meal (including 1 drink), I would have liked a better experience. read more

We've been here just over a dozen times. Yes, it is a hidden gem behind the Marshall's. Great beer selection of local breweries and really good food options. On this visit we had the Truffle & Parm Fries, Steak Wedge Salad ($20) & Santa Fe Chicken Salad ($18), as well as a beer flight. The staff are really helpful in deciding what types of beers would match your tastes. Both waitresses we had tonight were excellent. Bathrooms are very clean as well. The only thing I would change is to label the beers on the beer flight (as other establishments do) because sometimes you have a really good beer, but you can't remember which one it was and maybe to turn off the music in the background when it's really busy because it can get really loud in there and hard to have a conversation with anyone else at your table. read more

Almost forgot to write this review. Went to Paragon by myself for lunch. Only ordered appetizers. The interior is your typical bar. It's a large two sided venue, with outdoor seating, live bands on certain days, & is in a large shopping complex, so plenty of free parking. My server was polite, & quick with taking my order. Her lack of attention to a specific detail I wasn't too fond of, but I actually opted not to mention it. I ordered the Street Corn Dip, Truffle & Parm Fries, & Bavarian Soft Pretzel. I enjoyed the dip A LOT, & the Fries were great too. The pretzel, which is actually (3) sticks, I just didn't care for. Not a big deal, but in spite of the fact that I ate 1/2 of only 1, my server never acknowledged it & didn't offer to take it off of my bill. I could have said something, but sometimes I just like to observe & give a true review. This was such a time. The busy level was low, so can't use that as an excuse. Still, a nice Woman, just missed that "gimme" of an adjustment. Anyway, I'd still go back.....just not for the pretzel. I also had a seasonal Asbury Park beer. Our party of 3 came towards the end of happy hour on a Friday. The bar was full so we took a high top across from the bar. Fortunately the staff allowed us to order happy hour food even though we weren't at the bar. For apps, we got the Parmesan truffle fries and the shrimp bao buns. I could've done without the shrimp bao buns, as they lacked flavor and had one shrimp in each bun, but I loved the Parmesan truffle fries! They paired well with the aioli. After a little time of not visiting, we came back tonight for a great dinner. There's a new manager (used to be bartender) and unfortunately I didn't get his name. He is a fantastic addition to the restaurant, extremely knowledgeable about the draft beers and menu. Not only do the ly have dog friendly seating, but an actual doggy menu with appetizers and dessert! $5 for a barkcuterie app and $5 for hot chicken. Our puppy licked the plates clean. We humans ordered the calamari for an app, and were blown away. Its rings only and doesn't come with the Boeing marinara, but rather a lemon garlic aioli type of sauce that made it even better. My lief and turf tacos were so incredible I lost track of where I was. My hubby got the turkey burger and said it was above "good", which trust me is a compliment. We ordered the peanut butter explosion for dessert and enjoyed it with the live music on the patio. I could not believe the dessert was gluten free! Other places you'll get a little cup. This is a pretty generous dish so you won't run out of cheese. Kids sliders and fries - the fries have a good coating, the burger is juicy, the buns are toasty Hawaiian roll taste. (Also has all the other typical kid options) Steak and ravioli - omg if you like mushrooms this is the dish for you! The ravioli were stuffed with mushrooms. The sauce was perfect. Under the steak was a bed of spinach with roasted red peppers. Very good. The table does not have salt and pepper...you don't need it. Everything is well seasoned. Filet - comes with rosemary potatoes and veggies. My husband got this. He was happy. I was too busy with my food to evaluate his but he liked it. Dessert - they bring out a tray. You pick the item. We opted for the chocolate mousse/dirt cup option. The other options were various cakes. The dirt cup was goooood. Light ----as in fluffy---good texture of crumbled cookie. WOW! Why have I not come back here for 7 years? It was again....excellent. We made reservations for a Saturday night and they were honored on time. We began again with the fried calamari which was again superbly seasoned, served hot and fresh, and very tasty. Portion was generous. My wife again ordered the Turkey burger with a side salad and was very pleased. I ordered the maple bourbon glazed salmon which came with Jasmine rice and topped with Brussel sprouts and small pieces of sweet potato. It was excellent. My wife and I both sent back clean plates. We had no room for dessert. I did not look at previous review before I went so I had no idea we had ordered some of the same items. The service was excellent and friendly. The prices were very reasonable and I would say cheaper than other establishments for what we ate. There is a huge parking lot so there is no need to worry about parking. We tried their cocktails -- NUTTY OAK (BARREL POUR) and SCOTLAND SMASH. Good strong drinks but a little on a sweeter side for our taste. Nonetheless loved the combination of pear and walnut liqueur in my drink! Food was good....nothing worth raving about. But definitely tasty and fresh. We ordered truffle fries, roasted asparagus, and margherita flatbread. Big shout out to Robin & Bill - 5 stars for them. Robin was our wait staff. She was helpful and attentive without being intrusive :) When i asked for the drink suggestion she worked with the bar tender - Bill - to suggest something. Went today. Got tacos and margaritas. Tacos should not be on the menu if the steak is going to be over cooked and the fish is undercooked. Pork taco was good. The menu had a number of appealing options and the service was friendly and accommodating given some of our requests. I just had the wings ($14) with their voodoo sauce. The voodoo sauce consisted of honey, sriracha, and soy. There were only about 8 wings, so the price was a little much. The voodoo sauce was great. I was a little concerned this would be too sweet, but that was not the case at all. All 3 blended nicely together and the chicken was of good quality. I also tried the mini ahi taco which consisted of avocado, cucumber, and spicy mayo. These were extremely small, which was my only complaint. I also tried their Oreo mousse and no complaints there.
